Sandals for schlepping for miles around city streets

Any recs? Tan, black or grey and as comfortable as humanly possible without looking like my gran would wear them. Absolutely no to Fitflops, Ecco, or anything that looks as if Millets might sell it. Not totally flat, and ideally with some nice squidginess in them. Not flip flops and no toe post. Must have straps and not just be slider things or mules.

No more than £60 and would prefer less, as they'll get wrecked quite quickly.

I may well be asking the impossible.

Maybe Startrite should consider branching out into the adult market Smile

ElizabethHoover · 19/04/2015 13:42

LOVE the Startrite - and I am a 4, or a 3 and a half. I'm going to try those on!

The Landsend would be good minus the bling.

ElizabethHoover · 19/04/2015 13:47

start rite do look perfect - the side profile shows a nice rocky type sole

tethersend · 19/04/2015 13:55

Let me know how you get on with the start rite Wink

tethersend · 19/04/2015 13:55

They are really lovely IRL too.

IsItMeOr · 19/04/2015 13:57

I usually find Josef Seibel pretty comfy. Have to be a bit picky on the style.

Would these suit?

You can sometimes find them a bit cheaper if you do a net search. They are stocked in our local independent department store.

accessorizequeen · 19/04/2015 13:57

El naturalista are very very comfy, some of the styles are very chunky but perhaps worth s look on Amazon?

Marlinspike · 19/04/2015 14:01

just come back from a weekend in Paris where much walking was done in something very similar to these that I picked up at a Clarks outlet store for £40. V comfortable, not completely flat (which I really can't wear) and with a bit of essential squidge.,

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2015 14:03

Those Clarks ones are the ones on my, 'To Consider' list. Grin

REALLY?
are like school dinner lady shoes imo

member · 19/04/2015 14:04

Timberland Sheafe
Van Dal(!)South in tan and don't dismiss Teva or of hand; yes they have "walking sandals" that I know you'll deplore, but they also have some that are less so on the Teva.co.uk site.

Sorry can't link at the moment

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/04/2015 14:10

I think I'd rather look like a school dinner lady than an astronaut tbh. I want to wear the shoes and not let them wear me. I am little, with narrow feet and skinny ankles - big clunky things look ridiculous on me.

I like the Timberlands, but they don't look very squishy.

You need to see them in real life, they are a padded footbed

Twitchcoco · 19/04/2015 14:14

Marlinspike thanks, just ordered those from Amazon for £30.. Perfect! Cheers for the thread Remus :)

Twitchcoco · 19/04/2015 14:15

I have really skinny ankles too Remus and size 4 feet. I'm also a natural classic style personality so these are perfect.

Petal02 · 19/04/2015 14:17

Another vote for Skechers. Sorry.

Josef Seibel similar to start rite but totally tan?
