Things that annoy me on S&B because

yes I'm in that type of mood today . . .

The main one is the often commented 'oh you can only wear that if you're tall and thin'.

I mean if you have the figure of a model it goes without saying surely you can pretty much wear anything.

But what are the rest of us meant to wear.

It may look best on someone tall and slim but that doesn't mean if you're not those things that you still can't look good.

Oh and it is allowed for people to spend £££ on clothes - just because some people don't it doesn't make those who do bad people.

And relax . . .

and the reverse is also true, Nan. That I, as a relatively small-breasted woman, must never wear v-necks but cover up my scrawny chest with a polo neck.

I like "WOW you have TWO pairs of jeans. I have been wearing the same jeans since I was three and they are still perfectly good. Can't understand why anyone needs TWO pairs of jeans".

Or "what maternity clothes do I need" where people immediately talk about how they got through nine months with nothing more than a bobble through the buttonhole and "one of DH's shirts". Sure, you can do that, but the war is over! Buy nice things!

Although when credit card is maxed out I do have to avoid S&B for a bit
I always buy lovely things after reading a few threads

Darrell I know the V-neck thing is true. BUT I don't like being told that I cannot ever ever wear crew necks.

The only rules I obey are the ones that I have found work (or don't) for ME. Like, empire-line dresses make me look pregnant; smock-tops make me look pregnant; tight-fitting tees make my tummy look pregnant. Is anyone else sensing a theme here? Grin

Polo necks very good for me as have long goose neck and am very long waisted to look flattering. Also make me look 2 cup sizes bigger.

I laughed long and loudly at a S&B thread where they waxed lyrical about sthose Not Your Daughters Jeans. I don't understand the appeal. I want to wear my daughter's jeans (in fact, frequently do)

Actually there are only 2 real points to S&B threads

-the biannual pisstake of per una
-the annual point and laugh at scousers in their finery at aintree

I don't really go by rules however anyone who has even a semblance of hips should stay away from the bias cut.

Actually everyone should stay away from the bias cut, is a bit dated and mid 90s matthew williamsony. You would look like someone who buys theur clothes from designers at Debenhams.

Heh heh heh!

Had no idea Style & Beauty was such an angsty hotbed of hate.

I thought youze were all saying to one another "Oh but you look marvellous darling" and showing photos of your latest getups.

How wrong I was Grin. Must have a lurk sometime.

Oh god Not your daughters jeans are just the most awful item of clothing ever to be sold! They sell them in Marjories (a clothes shop for old laydies) in my town. I cannot believe that anyone who has ever seen them would actually buy them as they are so horrible and expensive!!!
