Things that annoy me on S&B because

yes I'm in that type of mood today . . .

The main one is the often commented 'oh you can only wear that if you're tall and thin'.

I mean if you have the figure of a model it goes without saying surely you can pretty much wear anything.

But what are the rest of us meant to wear.

It may look best on someone tall and slim but that doesn't mean if you're not those things that you still can't look good.

Oh and it is allowed for people to spend £££ on clothes - just because some people don't it doesn't make those who do bad people.

And relax . . .

GetOrf Where can you buy it for £24? I have only seen it for £33!

Oh the 'you can only wear v necks if you've got boobs' or any of that trinny and susannah crap.

Oh yes and also the 'I prefer spending time with my children than blow drying my hair' - where as I put them in a cage and spend 8 hours applying my false eyelashes Wink

Space NK tragically - that's what it cost when I last bought it (last autnumn) Or was it £26? Anyway it was less than £30.

And I want a whole outfit including shoes for £25 - yeap that'll be easy then.

Oh I love a NAP link though. Fondly remember thread of some tall slim person looking for a special dress with a £££ budget.

Well it's gone up since you bought it! Shock

It lasts for AAAAGES though.

I wear make up every day and mine is 9 months and still going strong.

Getorf agree By Terry worth the money. And that concealer not much dearer than Touche Eclat, which produces panda look (though think they've just started doing a range of colours).

As with clothes, it annoys me when people automatically condemn buying pricy beauty products and imply that everyone who does so is an airhead/snob not just to buy everything in Boots/ Superdrug. Not that there's anything wrong with Boots - but nor is there something morally wrong with buying products from Space NK, if they work well and you can afford them.

When my current under eye concealer runs out I will buy one. I only wear make-up twice a week so it will probably last me 2 years!

Enjoy it!

polyhym I totally agree.

I am not a makeup snob - I do spend a fortune on foundation etc but get blusher from Tesco, and wear any old Collection 2000 mascara.

Threads that are clearly set up just to 'have a go' As others have said, the linen trousers one springs to mind. If you don't like them, don't wear them! But why waste time and energy on moaning about others wearing them?!

Ones that are thinly veiled snobbish attacks on others - there was a tattoo thread that I perceived to be like this. I didn't join mumsnet for a long time, believing it to be full of judgemental middle class mums - whilst I now enjoy mumsnet, these sort of threads remind me of what I don't like about it.

oh i LOVE Moaning about things and reeling in suckers who then question my parentage then rebutting people.
the linen trousers one is on its third incarnation and provokes such amazing ire its BRILLIANT.

mn generalyl is very traditional and conservative though isn tit.
i LOVE to hate those capsule wardrobe shiteola ones where someone says this

" a crisp whit shirt" adn they ALWAYS say "straight leg dark rins jeans and a fucking rainmac trnchy coat" thing

you want to look like inspector clouseau then go right ahead

one recently suggested a poloneck.

go and get a good cut and colour
i only HAD to get a colour this year ( or was it last...?!)
saying that to a 30 year old sounds nuts

You HAVE to get a good cut and colour if you have shit dishwater coloured mousy hair.

Capsule holiday wardrobe - pah. Take everything you own and make DP take a capsile wardrobe so you can take his baggage allowance.

Classic clothes - agree.

Who the fuck looks good in a classic trenchcoat then that is what I want to know. I look like Colombo.

I last wore a crips white shirt at school. I am not dressing like a recruitemnet consultant to look 'classic'

I agree about the being tall.

In that,I am so tall I feel self-conscious, so almost always wear jeans, a non-clingy top and a bag on my head so no-one knows it's me.

NanAstley · 05/06/2011 18:37

Actually a thread here inspired me to go out and buy a trench coat. Inspector Clouseau is right Blush. Well, at least I only got a Zara one which is now languishing in my wardrobe and didn't splurge on burberry.

GetOrf - love your "take everything you own and make DP take a capsule wardrobe" comment :o

Agree with Meggles about those threads which turn into an excuse to start making nasty comments. However, S&B posters cannot expect to ask the question "does my arse look big in this" and then be pandered to by a bunch of MNers not telling the truth because presumably we come on here to get the truth?

I really dislike the "am I too old at 30" threads. Probably because I have recently turned 40 :o

Any thread with rules is naffity naff. Especially the rules about big boobs. Never wear high necks, never wear crew necks, never wear blah-di-blah. So, effectively, because I have big boobs, I must reveal my cleavage to all and sundry. Bollocks to that. i can look stylish without emulating Dolly Parton flashing my tits.
