Big paragraphs appearing when I try to reply to threads

I'm using the browser on a Samsung phone and getting a weird thing - if it happens here I'll leave it so you can see what I mean! Big spaces are appearing at the bottom of posts, like when a cat stands on the enter key. And paragraphs are jumping apart

by themselves and the cursor skips around.

It's not happening on any other sites so definitely not my phone - just had to abandon a post entirely as it was "skipping" so much it became completely unresponsive!

I'm having the same issue. Cursor randomly moves to the middle of a word, big paragraphs, etc.

It's doing it now Also on a Sa

Please will you reply to all mumsnet threads like this, so it annoys the IT team into fixing it!

GimmeBiscuits · 04/02/2023 11:07

itsthefinalcountdown1 It's fine on my desktop, and fine on other sites on my phone. I just couldn't be bothered to try to tidy up the horrific random cursor one as it demonstrated the problem.
The next post I added was absolutely fine, so there seems to be no rhyme or reason. Particularly as I'm using a different browser to others.

I just made a thread with massive gaps . Thing is people won't wany to ready it. Or think we left all the information of

GeneratedRandomly · 05/02/2023 09:03

Several threads in the last couple of days or so have huge gaps where a paragraph should be.

This is the most recent one I found.

I am using Win 10, Edge, on laptop.

If this site gets any more glitchy it will disappear up it's own arse. It's not cookies, that is rarely the solution to anything on here.

blackpinkinyourarea · 05/02/2023 11:31

Omg this is happening to me, i thought i was somehow causing it! I have a samsung phone, using the default Internet browser. Doesnt sound like its going to be fixed any time soon then...

007DoubleOSeven · 05/02/2023 11:59

@LilyMumsnet have you gone to Samsung with this problem? I saw a post on a different site which suggested they were also having issues and it might be an issue with Samsung?

AnorLondo · 08/02/2023 19:54

Definitely getting worse. If I want to write a post longer than a few lines I have to write it in my notes app and paste it, and even then it doesn't always work.

GimmeBiscuits · 08/02/2023 22:10

Agree. Had to abandon several threads today.

Doesn't do this glitchy thing on any other SM site, only on MN.

Crunchymum · 09/02/2023 06:54

I can't believe this still hasn't been sorted? It was reported on 24th November. What is the issue? It's it a can't fix it or won't fix it problem?

Can MNHQ please update.

Can we ask where you saw this? Flowers

MichelleScarn · 09/02/2023 09:11

Still happening with my posts too!

MeganTheeScallion · 09/02/2023 10:33

It's getting worse and worse 😞 I've given up on a few really interesting threads because of it.

Now you're asking..!

I think I was looking up someone mentioned on a thread and found myself on tattlelife - I didn't stay long so cant be 100% but the only other forums I've looked at lately have been gardening ones and they've been quite dated.

BelleHathor · 09/02/2023 18:29

Samsung users: the problem may be due to Samsung integrating Grammarly into it's Keyboard, this app checks everything written for the correct grammar. Try disabling it as suggested in these threads:

forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s22-s22-plus-s22-ultra/1052889-phone-keeps-adding-extra-lines-while-posting-forums.html

I did it a few days ago and now can post without phantom spaces, which I was experiencing here and on xenforo powered forums.

MeganTheeScallion · 09/02/2023 18:47

Thank you @BelleHathor but I've checked and Grammerly has never been switched on for me & isn't now.

GimmeBiscuits · 09/02/2023 19:58

No Grammerly for me either

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 09/02/2023 20:21

Grammarly took me a while to find - the setting isn't actually called that, it's 'suggest text corrections' in the Samsung keyboard menu.

Have turned that off and it does seem to be behaving. Thanks @BelleHathor

Couldn't tag before, as well as the paragraphs and jumping cursor problem. So the only thing left to check is bold.

Yes, that's also successful.

Still doing a few little twitches, as if it's about to do the paragraphs thing, but it doesn't actually come.to anything.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 09/02/2023 20:24

Oh - links weren't working either.

Let's see ...

test link (to some marshmallows)

And final check:

Ah @BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn I've had another look and switched that setting off. It's in a different place to the other Grammarly thingumy. Thank you!

BelleHathor · 09/02/2023 21:52

👏 Yay! Glad to hear thar it helped, thanks to the bloke at android central who started that thread.
It seems the settings might be hidden. Will post pictures of the steps I took.
