Big paragraphs appearing when I try to reply to threads

I'm using the browser on a Samsung phone and getting a weird thing - if it happens here I'll leave it so you can see what I mean! Big spaces are appearing at the bottom of posts, like when a cat stands on the enter key. And paragraphs are jumping apart

by themselves and the cursor skips around.

It's not happening on any other sites so definitely not my phone - just had to abandon a post entirely as it was "skipping" so much it became completely unresponsive!

Thank you so much - we will update ASAP.

Phone: Samsung S21

Android : 13

Samsung Internet version: 19.0.1.2

Mine is the same as this

Still no issues elsewhere.

Saisong · 02/12/2022 17:43

I've been getting this too it is bloody annoying. Samsung S22 using Ecosia browser. I've taken to typing replies in a Samsung Notes then pasting it into the MN message box. TBH I have abandoned several replies because of this, or can't be bothered with the faff of responding.

Typing this on the laptop BTW so no issues there

Blister · 04/12/2022 08:41

Me too
Phone: Samsung s21
Android 13
Browser: Microsoft Edge

candycrush789 · 04/12/2022 21:48

Happens to me too and when I reply or quote someone it's always in bold

Morning, everyone. We're still looking at this but we think it might well be to do with certain browsers, particularly Samsung's own browser. Could anyone having this issue try using Chrome on their Samsung device instead and see how that goes?

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 05/12/2022 12:35

I've been using Chrome for several days (same phone) and it works fine.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 09/12/2022 10:03

There was a Samsung update today, so this is a test post to ese whether it's fixed the problem.

What happens if I add a couple of paragraphs?

Or tag someone such as @rubydoobydoo ?

Still getting the para and cursor jumps - bit not quite as much as before. Looks as if the tag problem may be sorted. Can't link though.

But can use the emoticons menu.😎

Back to Chrome for me, then.

JoMumsnet · 09/12/2022 10:49

@BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn - thanks for testing things out. We're glad you've got your emojis back at least, but we're sorry that the paragraph problem still exists on the Samsung browser.

@rubydoobydoo - are things still the same for you, too?

rubydoobydoo · 09/12/2022 10:55

Let me have a go and see - it always starts off OK before the bottom of the text box starts expanding!

No still the same 😥

Mine is the same re paragraphs, cursor jumping and page jumping around, but I also have the emojis back. But it's a faff to scroll to them with the jumping page.

JoMumsnet · 09/12/2022 11:03

Oh that's a pain. Thanks for checking, @rubydoobydoo - we'll see if there's anything else we can suggest.

VenusStarr · 09/12/2022 16:56

I'm using chrome now and still having issues. Can't easily tag people, cursor jumping round and massive gaps still.

rubydoobydoo · 12/12/2022 17:16

I just had to report my own post due to the pure size of the space it put between paragraphs somewhere between me finishing writing it and scrolling down to press "post" 😅

I started a new thread as I didn't see this. I have a a Samsung. Have been having these issues for a few days now. Same in Chrome or Samsung Browser.

I did do an update recently for my phone. It wasn't happening before that.

motleymop · 16/12/2022 14:27

It's still happening to me too. It's been going on for weeks.

Crunchymum · 17/12/2022 08:52

Any updates? The website is unusable for me as it is.

VenusStarr · 17/12/2022 10:15

It's still awful for me. Although, ironically, doesn't happen when I post on this thread. But on others it's terrible

itsthefinalcountdown1 · 19/12/2022 06:35

I can see someone reported this weeks ago, but the problem only started for me this weekend. Bloody annoying :(

HebeMumsnet · 19/12/2022 11:24

Thanks for your patience with this, everyone. We're still looking into it. In the meantime, if anyone arriving here with the same problem could let us know what device and browser (as well as which version) you're using. If you're able to get a video of what's happening, too, that would also be really helpful.

We'll be back with an update as soon as there's any more news.

Blister · 21/12/2022 05:51

I got some silly reply about resetting cookies after making a video of the problem which I couldn't send over because it was too big. Problem still happens. The debug process needs help...

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 21/12/2022 06:31

Happening here too. Galaxy s21, android 13, Samsung browser. Very annoying.

HebeMumsnet · 21/12/2022 11:28

No good news just yet, we're afraid. But a couple of suggestions for 'in the meantime'.

  1. If you've not yet tried using different browsers, that might be worth a go. It's looking like this is mostly (but not exclusively) happening on Samsung browsers so trying Chrome or Safari etc <might> make a difference.
  2. If you're not using the app, it's worth trying that rather than the mobile site or desktop site.

We'll update as soon as there's any more news.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 21/12/2022 13:23

Thanks for your persistence.

ChuggingtonMum · 21/12/2022 13:34

This is driving me crackers too, it started on Mon and comes and goes. Sort of pleased I am not the only one. Am using Chrome as a quick fix for now (although chrome crashes a lot on my phone which is why i generally use the Samsung browser).

Samsung A22, v13,Android browser is 19.0.3.12.
