I’m not interested in what’s trending on the Christmas board.

It’s annoying.

Agreed. I keep clicking on it when scrolling through threads and being transported to either the thread it's discussing or the Christmas section, it's already driving me bonkers.

I also don't think it's appropriate for it to be appearing on every thread. Some of the topics being discussed are not in need of festive cheer and it's pretty insensitive for it to cropping up during serious discussions.

Totally agree. I hate Christmas, it’s a difficult time for me and brings up lots of unpleasant past memories and feelings of loneliness in the present. Not all of us have happy memories of Christmas or people we can share it with now. I don’t want to have to think about how I will be spending Christmas alone again every time I go on a thread about something unrelated.

I don’t understand why it’s suddenly appeared. I mean, I can’t believe an actual human being thought - do you know what every single thread needs, including the distressing ones where people are hurting and lonely and anxious and financially struggling? - a BRIGHT RED REMINDER OF CHRISTMAS!

I don’t mind it but I think mumsnet should be more considerate of people who have bad associations with Christmas or people who don’t celebrate for religious reasons etc. They can choose to click on Christmas related content but can’t easily ignore this.

I was just, "...wtf did I accidentally sign up for Christmas notifications accidentally, because surely nobody would be foisting this annoying intrusive shite on me without me ever having expressed an interest". I like Christmas fine, but I have zero need or interest to talk about it online and I certainly don't want it foisted on me in every single thread in GIANT! BRIGHT! RED!
