Please turn off “Trending in Christmas” or at least make the red less BRIGHT!

The red is jarring!!

I’m not interested in what’s trending on the Christmas board.

It’s annoying.

It’s badly placed.

Please let us turn it off.

Why are you mixing the Christmas threads in with the others in the Trending box? Stop manipulating the trending threads. If people want to see Christmas threads, they'll go to the Christmas board.

Do we have to have Christmas threads filling trending as well as the red box?

It’s bloody November. Your user base is giving you a very clear message and you’re telling them you don’t care because you got 10k page clicks.

I’ve clicked on several threads in trending today only to find out they’re Christmas threads and clicked straight out again without reading them. Is the click in all that matters to you or does user experience count for anything?

Another one clicking onto Christmas threads solely to hide them! Don’t count me in your dodgy user stats!

Additionally, if you’re telling us, your user base, that you only care about page clicks rather than what we experience, that quite the message to deliver.

If it’s the fourth most popular forum after AIBU, chat and relationships then where are the boxes for these forums at the bottom of our screens? I bet if you put a box for AIBU you would have more than 10k clicks but it doesn’t mean it’s needed or wanted.

Shades of the height of the pandemic when people were losing their jobs, income and loved ones and the begging bowl went out for "premium" . I'm once again disappointed that MNHQ still cannot read the room right.

It is all about the clicks, but MN claims 100 million page views a month, over 3 million a day, so 10 000 is pretty pitiful. 7 million unique users and only 10 000 click through an unmissable red box. It looks as though quite a few we’re not deliberate as well.

Another one here who finds it annoying. Please remove it as I'm not interested in Christmas drama even in December.

We can see that the clicks are leading to more dwell time on the Christmas threads so it's not only accidental clicks but fair enough, we'll move it to under the comment box so it's easier to ignore for those that want to!

Ah, I wondered what was going on. All the threads I see in my "trending" box have been Christmas threads all day.

I keep shouting "IT'S NOVEMBER" at the laptop.

I thought everyone had gone collectively insane and were all posting on nothing but festive threads.

Seems it's Mumsnet messing with the algorithm though.
