Please turn off “Trending in Christmas” or at least make the red less BRIGHT!

The red is jarring!!

I’m not interested in what’s trending on the Christmas board.

It’s annoying.

It’s badly placed.

Please let us turn it off.

I had seen it, but had just scrolled past it as I thought it was an advert.

However, I totally understand it upsetting some people & it does seem insensitive if it's on 'sensitive' threads.

A few years ago when my Dad had died I threw a monumental strop on here about 'Christmas threads in fucking September' (before the Christmas board was set up) & continued requesting they had a separate board for everyone wanting to discuss Christmas in Sep/Oct/Nov... it was all so painful to me at the time. (& I had lost my Dad, not a child!)

I'm surprised MN have done this. I don't really see the point of it & the potential for upset is huge

Agree! It's November. Its just not necessary.

I agree it totally jars against everything else due to the colour, and the content, particularly when reading sensitive threads.

Surely the point in having a christmas board in the first place is so people can chose to engage if they want, or chose to ignore if they dont want to see it....

Agreed. I love a wander round the Xmas board but this bright red horror show needs to fuck right off.

Yeah it’s awful. Maybe one line would be acceptable but a whole screen full of red Xmas joy on every thread is a bit annoying!

I agree. Haven't actually looked at it properly till this thread. It's an annoying, giant ad in my way as I'm scrolling down and I keep trying not to accidentally click on it.

It's quite irritating having to scroll up and down past it.

I love Christmas and the do go on the threads on the Christmas board, but the big red trending box on every other bleeding topic is annoying me already and it only started today!

I don’t mind it but I think mumsnet should be more considerate of people who have bad associations with Christmas or people who don’t celebrate for religious reasons etc. They can choose to click on Christmas related content but can’t easily ignore this.

Agree with this, some will hide the topic but won't be able to avoid it?
