We’d like your help testing a new release of the Mumsnet Talk App 3.0 (beta).

This app is for iPhones and iPads on iOS8 only at the moment.

We'd love it if you can give the app a good workout - using it as you normally do - to read and post in Talk. please do bear in mind that the app is still in beta version, so some things may not work perfectly. We have made a few changes since our last test release.

You can use any email address to sign up.
You need to be logged in to sign up. (If you can't see the sign up page, make sure you are logged in.)
It is LIVE. Any posts you make will be seen on the Mumsnet site for all to see. We'll send you an invitation to download the app (it will arrive via the TestFlight service).

Talk app users

This app will replace the current Talk app (2.1) on your phone if you have it.

Recent beta Talk app testers (Testflight 1.0)

If you have been involved in recent app testing, you will end up with two app icons (1.0 & 3.0) on your device. You can uninstall the previous beta app (it will stop working this week).
If you previously signed up for this - but didn't accept & download the app - you will need to sign up again.

Ever since the site was down and the "???" problem when pressing return was resolved, there's a new little glitch.

When I go to "threads I'm on" and open a white thread (showing there are new posts) it changes that thread to blue (to show no more new posts size I last read it).

When I then go to that same thread in "active" it has gone back to white as though I haven't caught up.

At first I assumed someone posted in that half-second, but when I opened the thread, the last post had been bookmarked, so there clearly were no new ones.

Only a little glitch but still worth reporting. **

Oh and I have no idea where those two cheeky ** came from! I didn't put them there as it is two clicks on my phone to get a star, so I'd have been aware of that.

Interestingly, I was posting all of that under "active" and when I logged in under "threads I'm on" it was automatically updated to blue.

Now I am testing it back the other way round again. Sorry to clog up the thread with my experiments folks

Each of the duplicated messages were because I got a different pop-up error code each time. It said it hadn't posted but then did!

I have posted a couple of the error messages but didn't photograph the first one so can't remember which code it was.

After all that....

It changed from white to blue normally like it should the second time round.

So please ignore all of that!

Yes if you load the active threads, then switch to Watching/I'm On and view a thread that appears in the active list, the same thread in active isn't going to show as read until you reload active. Unless, that is, the new post on the thread is created by you on the app.

Hopefully that makes sense, it's a hard one to get your head around!

We'll look into having the read labels sync between screens without needing a refresh in a future update. Well spotted.

MrsWembley I'd love to take the credit but it sounds like you've updated to iOS 9 so the thanks needs to go to Apple (it's a new feature of iOS - that back button will appear in the status bar whenever you switch apps through a link of some sort). Good isn't it!

I've not updated to IOS 9 yet, but I did notice if I click on a link to another MN thread, in a thread, I STAY IN THE AP (I used to get sent off to safari where the clicked link would open)!

Hi all. You'll probably find this out pretty soon...

The Talk app 3.0 is now all approved and available in the App Store.
We are chuffed.

Beta testers
If you downloaded the 3.0 beta app from Testflight, this will work until October 18. You can keep it on your phone if you want, and be one of our special MN testers.

When we create beta app updates for testing, you'll get the occasional email letting you know and you can download if you like.

Old Talk app
Anyone with the old MN Talk app on their devices will get an automatic update from Apple which overwrites old with new 3.0

PassiveAggressive thanks for letting us know. It's an intermittent problem we're aware of, and have been working on a fix recently. It's more of a back end thing, so won't need an update to the app. We'll hopefully release a fix for this very soon.

LovelyFriend if you could give us an example of a thread where you can't see pictures that would be great. Thanks.
