We’d like your help testing a new release of the Mumsnet Talk App 3.0 (beta).

This app is for iPhones and iPads on iOS8 only at the moment.

We'd love it if you can give the app a good workout - using it as you normally do - to read and post in Talk. please do bear in mind that the app is still in beta version, so some things may not work perfectly. We have made a few changes since our last test release.

You can use any email address to sign up.
You need to be logged in to sign up. (If you can't see the sign up page, make sure you are logged in.)
It is LIVE. Any posts you make will be seen on the Mumsnet site for all to see. We'll send you an invitation to download the app (it will arrive via the TestFlight service).

Talk app users

This app will replace the current Talk app (2.1) on your phone if you have it.

Recent beta Talk app testers (Testflight 1.0)

If you have been involved in recent app testing, you will end up with two app icons (1.0 & 3.0) on your device. You can uninstall the previous beta app (it will stop working this week).
If you previously signed up for this - but didn't accept & download the app - you will need to sign up again.

Thinking about it, that's what I generally use to navigate on the main site as well, FairyBiker. If easy, I agree with you. (It may not be so easy to do in practice.)

I've suddenly started getting the weird question mark problem today, when my posts yesterday were fine... ????I'm running v5 of the 3.0 app on iOS 8.4.1 on an iPhone 4s. ??

Hello all, quick update about the question marks problem: the source of the issue has been found and we're working on it. We should have a fix soon.

The top 3 improvements that could be made now, IMO, are a search function for thread titles/contents, the ability to hide sponsored and stickied threads and PMs.????I still think the app is great though and miles better than the last one.

Search??! Where is search?? Please?

I was going to ask about the topic being made in to a link at the top of a thread. I keep pressing to try and go to it then realising it's not a link. ????Is anyone else reading everyone's posts as if they are actually asking questions with the random question marks?

And a refresh button on active threads please!

My initial comments are:

Please please please can you allow the app to remember when you've flipped a thread? I have to keep flipping a thread back (to most recent post) every time I read it and its really annoying

No search function, it would be really useful, especially when you can't remember where a topic is.

Can we have a tab for most active (trending) threads (ie those which appear on the RHS on the main website). After checking threads I'm on, that's where I would normally go to next. I don't want to have to scroll through all active threads to identify the most active salacious ones.

Otherwise, I think the app is pretty good and simple to use. I like the fact that threads with new posts appear in a different colour. Easy to add favourite topics. I think I've worked out how to go back to a thread to read posts while in the middle of a reply which was my biggest issue before (as I mainly post on long-running threads).

Just about to ask if there is a search function. Seems there is not. Joining in the chorus of those asking for one please!

I posted on the feedback survey a while ago that everything was great and I liked the app ... But I am increasingly finding the lack of a search function to be difficult, so thought I'd echo that here too!

Is there any way to name change on the app?

I don't see it if there is, Deedeecupcake. I 'think' you may have to change name on the main site and then log back in on the App. Happy to be corrected on that latter because I'm not at all sure what the rules for synchronisation are. (I had thought that the App synchronised with main accounts automatically but now I'm not so sure.)

Can I ask if the App is iOS9 friendly? (My ipad is wanting to me to upgrade from iOS8.)

DeedeeCupcake????When you 'reply' it brings up 2 boxes, one big white one that you type in (before hitting "post" and the other one above it, that says your username.????If you click on the user name you can put an existing alternative in there, but it has to be a name you've already added on the main site .????Also, you have to always log in with the username that you have set on the main website. ??

Instead of the scroll all the way up to the top of the page and pull down to refresh please could a button be added on the top bar next to the flip-this-thread button?

if you do a double flip it refreshes with just 2 taps.

What's with all the ???? when you do a post with carriage returns in? It's driving me potty and I have to keep apologizing for the weird looking posts! ????Like that...????

I still cannot find the local boards

Some sort of glitch which seems to equate one return with four question marks. petetech got it when he posted backaways and has scurried off to have a look at it. (With no success so far, it looks like.)
