Earrings found and they aren’t mine! WWYD?

Strugglingmama1 · 31/01/2025 09:46

In brief, I found a pair of earrings behind my air fryer when I was cleaning and they aren’t mine. I’ve asked all my children and they are adamant they aren’t theirs and haven’t seen them.

my husband works away. I’m a SAHM so always here.

If this was you, what would you be thinking? Because my mind is in a mess

Thanks!

Are they new in a box, like DH could have bought them for you as a gift and hidden, then forgotten them?

Someonelookedatmypostinghistorysoichanged · 31/01/2025 09:49

How often do you use the air fryer, could they have been there for ages?

Has he had the opportunity to have a woman in the house ?

Someonelookedatmypostinghistorysoichanged · 31/01/2025 09:49

Female relatives/friend?

marshartist · 31/01/2025 09:49

Do you have a cleaner? Or any female relatives or friends who visit who might have left them at yours at some point? If so could you ask them via texts? Have you recently moved to that house (they belong to a previous owner?)

slippersandfleece · 31/01/2025 09:53

Cleaner? Friend? Relative?

Bloomingnoisyneighbours · 31/01/2025 10:03

I think the fact you obviously think there could be a worrying connection between these earrings and your DH is quite revealing. Have you had concerns about him prior to finding these?

As someone who has long term form for taking my earrings out and putting them " somewhere safe" and then forgetting where they are, I wonder if some friend or relative visiting you could have done similar?

rwalker · 31/01/2025 10:07

I’d suspect one of the kids has pinched them from somewhere
because if they do say they are theirs you’ll ask where did you get them from

healthybychristmas · 31/01/2025 10:08

Are you concerned about your husband? I can't see how he can have anything to do with this, can you?

This thought crossed my mind too ...

familyissues12345 · 31/01/2025 10:13

Have you got sons? Could one of them snuck a girl in and they didn't want to admit it?

theressomanytinafeysicouldbe · 31/01/2025 10:13

Strange place to hide them if they have anything to do with your husband - surely he would have had to have a woman in the house for her to leave earrings and you are a SAHM and he works away.

Are they boxed or just a random pair? Do they look expensive or just a pair you would pick up in a Claire's store? How old are your DC? Could it be one of them was the kitchen talking to a friend who has took them off and put them on top of the air frier and then theyve fell off the back behind? Or even if you have a family member who visits, they could have done the same.

This is what I thought too. How old are your kids, OP?

nozbottheblue · 31/01/2025 10:31

Are you worried your husband may like wearing earrings and hasn't told you?

DeepFatFried · 31/01/2025 10:43

How often do you look behind the air fryer? What’s the longest length of time they could have been there?

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 31/01/2025 10:58

If they are very large diamonds ones, they're mine. I wondered where they had gone.

nozbottheblue · 31/01/2025 11:01

I would be thinking that they were mine and they had been there so long I'd forgotten they existed.

NoBiscuitsLeftInMyTin · 31/01/2025 11:09

Well, I’m M47 and single and I found a hair bobble in my bed the other week, it certainly isn’t mine, no one else has access to my house/bedroom and I have no idea in the world of how it got there…. Strange things do happen.

Angelcakelover · 31/01/2025 11:26

I'd be thinking maybe one of the kids found them or "borrowed them" from a friend or something. There are a few explanations really, but my mind wouldn't jump straight to my partner cheating on me etc. Like you say, you're always there... when would a woman have come round?

ginasevern · 31/01/2025 11:31

I guess you've thought of all possibilities OP. Such as, one of your kids could've obtained them by "dishonest" means. They aren't going to own up to that! Do you have a cleaner or any other female visitors?

If your DH was having an affair would he really shove a pair of incriminating earings behind the air fryer? Are the earings new and boxed or just loose?

DreamW3aver · 31/01/2025 11:46

Were they lying loose, in a box, newly bought and not worn? We need to know a bit more to judge

If you're always at home then they must have been put there by someone you know.

Diomi · 31/01/2025 11:53

Are you sure they aren’t yours? My daughter was looking through my jewellery the other day and asked to borrow a pair of my earrings. I didn’t recognise them at all but they must have been mine.

Georgyporky · 31/01/2025 12:02

You could say - in front of the kids - that you are going to sell them.
Watch their re-actions.

Strugglingmama1 · 31/01/2025 12:06

Hi no they were loose and not new either

OP posts:
caringcarer · 31/01/2025 12:08

Are they expensive ones or just cheap ones? If they were cheap I'd assume DC or one of their friends but if very expensive I'd be wondering more.

Strugglingmama1 · 31/01/2025 12:12

Wow so many replies! Definitely not mine. The are pink and dangly and to be honest look like a charity shop item - which I thought could be my eldest who is 16 and loves charity shops. But she’s adamant they’re not hers. Smaller kids MAY have picked them up by accident…. The air fryer is a month old so not something that has been lost and forgot about.

I don’t have any visitors! It’s just us.

also we have no sex life (I don’t want to, it’s a LONG story), but the lack of sex is a huge issue for him. So that’s why I’m suspicious

however when I first found them he was there and had said he didn’t know and said our daughter can keep them. lol what
