I'm Mouse and I've been on the bus for 2 months now and not fallen off it as yet. It's much more comfortable than The Wagon! Grin

Anyway, this is thread number nine!

Everyone is welcome to join at any point of the journey, drinking or not, wanting to stop or just to cut down.

hi, really quick one!, mouse, i totally get about not drinking in a crisis but going mad once crisis is over - i have been very good at that over the years!

pickle - you sound tired and fed-up!, how about that just for today you give your brain a rest and tell the drink to fuck the fuck off!, i promise that once the decision is made, your head becomes a far more tranquil place to live in!

laters babes!!! Grin

Hello. I have no right rto expect any of you to remember me...I dropped off miles back afte a terminal computer failure, and move to a building site at the other end of the country. As consequence, I haven't kept up with any of you on your journies, and I don't know any of the newer faces. I hope now to catch up a little, though my computer's still in the grave and I'm relying of bagging access on dh's laptop from time to time. Amazing how cut off you an feel without the www t your fingertips!!

Anyway. Largely sopber end of summer for me, still fighting it, but have noticed that my rare lapses are piddly by comparison to my nightly binges before I joined the thread... At the moment I'm back on day 10.

Hope to catch up with those of you I've 'met' before again, and get to know those of you I haven't 'met'. Moomin, now in your neck of the woods!

Mouseface · 01/10/2010 13:31

pav - you've not hurt my feelings at all. xx

algee.

Ah, there you are. I often wonder about you. Hello!! Well done for 10 straight days. Smile

algee · 01/10/2010 13:33

Hey moomin...just skimming this thread I can see i've missed loads of conversation, hope I can catch up, and sneak back in. You've been having a tough time, I think...

algee · 01/10/2010 13:34

...JAB, think I need to do a bit of early thread re-reading too!

ChristianaTheSeventh · 01/10/2010 13:37

Good point SAF re the normal. I know lots of people who thrive on drama.

Maybe I am one too?

algee - I'm a northener moved southwards but still kinda in the middle.

I'm planning to meet up with Red next time I'm up there as have friends that we stay with in the area, maybe you can meet up with us too?

Hi Babes

I'm lurking at the moment - Mouse sent you a PM.

Thankyou all for all your support - the bus will be back on the road very soon.

xxxx

JABnowJAR · 01/10/2010 14:30

SAF I think that's a great point. Fortunately for me, I've never really had any major crises in my life but still I have drunk to excess.

I think you are right that maybe I can't quite cope with the day to day normality of life and for some reason Ive convinced that drinking makes things more interesting/exciting. How wrong I have been! Sad

I'm really trying to take more pleasurable in the normal and mundane.

JABnowJAR · 01/10/2010 14:31

Hi silver

Silver66 · 01/10/2010 14:36

Hi JAR

Lovely to meet you and welcome back

xxx

JABnowJAR · 01/10/2010 14:38

Thank you and you! xx

It's lovely to have everyone to chat to on here.

Silver66 · 01/10/2010 14:49

I read somewhere that alcoholics tend to be high achievers, very intelligent, creative etc etc - so maybe we can take some comfort from that - if it's true!!!

I get the feeling that it would apply to all of us on this thread.

I certainly think that I drink because of boredom a lot of the time - I love a crisis and go into overdrive trying to solve/help. It's the mundane that I struggle with and consequently self- aneathitise (HTF do you spell that word - someone please tell me)

And I also think that HABIT plays a large part in my problem - I am also a smoker and it's similar when I have tried to stop that.

Just a few ponderings.............

Fortheverylasttime · 01/10/2010 15:00

Flippin' 'eck, Algae.

So pleased to hear from you, you were such a big part of the beginning of this series of threads. I think I did post a 'Where's Algae?' and I certainly felt like it. I knew you would come back if only to read.

You were missed by me, any way.
