Hello.

I'm Mouse and I've been on the bus for 2 months now and not fallen off it as yet. It's much more comfortable than The Wagon! Grin

Anyway, this is thread number nine!

Everyone is welcome to join at any point of the journey, drinking or not, wanting to stop or just to cut down.

Jump on board, you won't be judged, just supported whatever you decide. Smile

I'll take some comfort from that...like it!!!

I'm an ex-smoker...haven't had a fag since the day I found out I was pregnant, so nearly a year.

I've found it much easier to not smoke compared to not drink. However, on the occasions when Ive drunk to excess since havong DD the fag cravings have returned.

Not given in to them though.

gettingeasier · 01/10/2010 15:12

OOh yes Silver I am all those things apart from high achiever Grin

Can I watch SCD with everyone and without wine tonight? Its just so exciting and no no guilt here either.

Pav agreed with your post about why we drink without necessarily being in a crisis. I agreed too with whoever said so much of it is habit .

Mouse I can understand why you didnt drink when Nemo was newborn but you should give yourself more credit for the fact you dont now because you say you couldnt but we find a way dont we to drink in scenarios where it doesnt seem possible. You are a star.

Trying to think why I drink its mostly to block things out in the evening when I am doing not much partly boredom. To give myself a boost the smiles and giggles from the first couple of glasses. To celebrate - again to laugh/smile. To be a bit more outgoing in social situations.

I think the reality is the first glass or two does deliver those things but its stopping isnt it !

JABnowJAR · 01/10/2010 15:19

Another sober SCD recruit - fab!

The stopping is the hardest bit. I agree that the first couple of drinks does make things seem more fun but then it goes downhill.

Even though, my logical brain knows all the dire consequences of drinking I still can't fully escape from the feeling that I enjoy drinking wine (or at least the first few glasses). Aaahhh!

desiretochange · 01/10/2010 15:52

Dare I declare here that I am not a fan of SCD Hmm

JABnowJAR · 01/10/2010 15:54

You can dare but I shall never speak to you again Wink Grin.

Oh heck, what's not to love?!! Glamour, sequins, fake tan. Joking aside, I just love to watch people dance! Smile

hippychicky · 01/10/2010 16:00

Hi Christi try the NE of Scotland for torrential rain today - i am just about to paddle home in my canoe!

desiretochange · 01/10/2010 16:01

Sorry, just can't get into it Grin
Every year it's a case of which celebrity falls in love/lust with dance partner Wink

gettingeasier · 01/10/2010 16:17

Sacrilegious talk about SCD !!!

Its the passion I love and the fantasy of being swept around by some delicious guy !

desiretochange · 01/10/2010 16:20

Been a heck of a long time for me too getting - maybe I am secretly jealous Wink

lucilastic · 01/10/2010 16:27

I drink to alliviate boredom. I drink to forget the bad things in my life, I drink to reach oblivian.

I used to enjoy drinking to be sociable, to enjoy being with other people, to have fun.

I realised I had a problem when I no longer wanted to go out and drink. I didn't trust myself to not make an arse of myself.
I just wanted to drink to forget my problems then pass out in my bed.
Sad.
Welcome back and hi to everyone else.
Mouse, as a mother of a 3yr old and a 2 yr old your posts regarding Nemo have really made me think.
Thank you.

Today I am hoping to not drink. TBH I'm really struggling. The weather is black and dark and so is my mood.
I really want to txt DP and ask him to pick up some wine.

lucilastic · 01/10/2010 16:30

But I won't.

Mouseface · 01/10/2010 16:35

That was the point I guess Luci

We all have responsabilities on here, whether they are dependants or not.

Maybe your DC's should be yours?

Nemo is my reason not to drink. We all have to find our own.

JWN's is her family too.
