Well, here we go ladies (and MIFLAW)! The new thread to follow on from JWN's 'me and alcohol have ruined my family'. I hope no one minds that I decided to go with 'brave'? I just think that it describes us!

As a quick recap, I am 33 and on day 22 of sobriety (on this occasion!)

Sorry for my absense my gran had a fall so I've been at hers getting it ready for her coming out of hospital. It's so nice to be able to help and to offer to stay and have everyone know I will be perfecly sober and stable.

I'm here. And I'm sober. And I'm not hungover.

Great title. I think I have fewer bags under my eyes, and I don't have a bag of empties to get rid of every morning; I HAVE been brave enough to admit to myself that I am an alocholic; I am (with the wonderful support of all on here) battling with my addiction to booze.

Hi katerum, and welcome. If you've been reading the other thread then you'll have seen how great people are on here. Encouraging and cheering when people are doing well, supportive when people are struggling, and funny and feisty and fab.

Kate - welcome! It's great to 'meet' you. It's a lovely feeling when you start to feel well again isn't it? I managed to go for almost 11 months before crashing off the wagon for a few months. Am now firmly off the booze again - with the help of AA and this thread! Are you going to any meetings or counselling or anything?

I forgot to mention algee in my 'where is everyone' post! I have not forgotten you algee but I know you are away for a few days! If you manage to read this let us know how you are doing!

Am doing it alone, thought one of my best friends is AA, and full of wisdom.

A few months ago i was aware i may have a problem as i was wanting to stop but didnt know how. had a major falling out with my partner, there was no booze in the house and i just didnt restock...and here i am.

i feel less stressed, the house is tidier, im making so many posotive changes, i dont want to go back. i will never say never, but i cant drink at the moment.

and with that i lift my rooibos! to sobriety!

rooibos? (Sorry if being ignorant!) That's great to hear kate. I also can never say never it's just one day at a time for me!

teasle - I am really sorry I did not welcome you on the old thread! I was stressing about setting up the new one and how to link it (yes, really!) I liked what you were saying about people dismissing AA as a cult!

( i thought being in a cult meant illicet sex? so why havent i been propositioned? - i think soem of the poor old boys at my meeting would run screaming in horror if i took my clothes off!! )

Rooibos is south african red bush tea. No caffeine in it. Quite nice.

Having a good day so far. No rage, no extreme tiredness - am highly amused because my much younger colleague is totally hungover today. I am just thanking God that it's not me feeling like that! Never again - I hope.

back in office - really good meeting, still no offers of rampant sex though!

Hope everyone is having a good day. Sooooo can't wait to hear from wasindie. Suspense is killing me!

Anyone got nice plans for the weekend? I have a wedding and a christening to attend. Looking forward to both - and am not concerned about the booze aspect of either. Last summer (during my dry 10 month stint) I went to 4 weddings, 2 hen do's, work nights out etc etc and was not bothered at all so I know that I will be fine. Not going to a meeting tonight but will be attending my home group meeting tomorrow which is like adding another little piece of protection!

Evening everyone, just checking in to say hello. How's everyone going? I am OK. Well, not great actually! Not sure why but the extreme anger and grumpiness returned with a vengeance. and bloody hell did I think about a drink to drown it out. At no point was I close to actually picking up but I really wanted to. Argh! Am very, very glad that I didn't. It's just so hard dealing with emotions!!

Anyway, I hope that everyone else has had a more peaceful evening.

ive got my rooibos & i also like tomato juice with salt, pepper and herbs.

I tend to drink diet coke, diet coke and then sometimes, diet coke!
