Hello, welcome to thread five!! Smile

I'm Mouse and I'm 10 whole days sober which is bloody amazing given that I would normally consume nearly 90 units per week! And that's without 'special occasions'!! Shock

So, if I can do it, you can do it! The support here is awesome, no matter where you are in your quest to quit. No judging, no cliquey groups.

We are just real, honest people. All helping each other to give up the booze. Come meet the other Brave Babes........................

And for those who would like to read the adventures so far, here are the links from the first four threads!

JWN's original thread (the reason we are all here)

The book I am finishing tonight is by Jeffrey Deaver called "Roadside Crosses", not what you might call worthy but definitely gripping:)
What book are you reading Red?

RedMoomin · 24/08/2010 16:00

I LOVE Jeffrey Deaver - I have read that one! I just recently read "The Burning Wire". Which I actually found a bit harder going than his usual ones but still good! I am currently reading "Dexter is Delicious" but Jeff Lindsay. Can you tell that I love crime books?!

Mouseface · 24/08/2010 16:07

Just so it is on this last page -

new thread

Tonight, I am going to have a meltdown.

I can't find school trousers online, and in stock for DD.

I have left it too late.

I need grey, adjustable waist, longer leg, bootcut trousers in super tall.

Oh.

My.

Life.

What am I going to do?

MsGee

Re the constipation and bottom issues with DD, have you tried to make it into a game? Make going to the loo fun for her. And, does she see you on the loo?

Again, feel free to ignore. Just wondered if you could normalise the situation, take the pressure off what is happening or rather not, if she would relax a little?

This is my first time reading Jeffrey Deaver, and find it so hard to put down, one of those books you are dying to get to the end of but at the same time hate the thought of finishing it:)
Haven't read any of Jeff Lindsay, is the series on telly based on his books?
Have you read any Michael Connelly?

RedMoomin · 24/08/2010 16:12

You must read 'The Empty Chair' by Jeffery Deaver, it's fantastic. Love, love, love Michael Connelly!! (Although a couple recently have not been up to his usual high standards but still good!) Yes, the TV series is based on the books - I can't get on with Dexter on TV though but love the books! Also Harlan Coben, Lee Child, Karin Slaughter, Robert Crais..... to mention but a few!

RedMoomin · 24/08/2010 16:12

Mouse - oh no! I have no idea what to suggest. When is DD back to school?

desiretochange · 24/08/2010 16:22

Nightmare Mouse, my youngest child is back to school next week but thankfully her uniform still fits.
Must look out for books by those other authors Red because don't think I have read any of them, the Harry Bosch novels by Michael Connelly are my fav:)

RedMoomin · 24/08/2010 16:24

Harry Bosch is my hero - I also like Mickey Haller too. I think the new book out in Oct(?) has both of them in it. Hurrah!

I cannot believe it's nearly 5pm already!

Mouseface · 24/08/2010 16:25

OOOOoooo - If you like Harlan Coben, you'll like Christopher Brookmyre too. A friend of mine recommened his books. Very cleverly written and witty!

I read The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, it was brilliant but I felt uneasy about some of the events. It brought back a few bad memories for me so my friend has said NOT to watch the film.

Michael Connelly, I think I have read one - A Darkness More Than Night. I have to say that I gave up. Thought it was boring.

Re DD - 7th September. I'm just going to have to hunt for them!!! I'll be fine. Lack of sleep always makes me more stressed!!!!

RedMoomin · 24/08/2010 16:30

Yes, no point getting worked up about the trousers when you are so exhausted. It can all wait! (I will look out for Christopher Brookmyre, thanks for the tip!)

desiretochange · 24/08/2010 16:40

A friend of mine lent me the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and the other two books in the trilogy, absolutely brilliant, bit hard going in the beginning with all the swedish names but well worth the read.
I am sorry Mouse if it brought back bad memories for you and if I am guessing right which parts you found most distressing then I have to agree that your friend is probably right, don't watch the film as I would imagine that the visual reminder would be much more difficult to deal with than the written word.
I was sad when I read that the author had died before his books were published.

RedMoomin · 24/08/2010 16:43

I have read the first 2 books of the trilogy - I am also really sorry mouse that it brought back bad memories for you Sad

venus - hello fabulous lady! Nice to have you back.

desire - It was 6.5 years ago but I'm far from over that part of my life. I too found the start of the book hard to follow, it took a while to flow but once it did, brilliant! Yes, such a shame he died before finishing.

May try the other 2 next!
