Hello, welcome to thread five!! Smile

I'm Mouse and I'm 10 whole days sober which is bloody amazing given that I would normally consume nearly 90 units per week! And that's without 'special occasions'!! Shock

So, if I can do it, you can do it! The support here is awesome, no matter where you are in your quest to quit. No judging, no cliquey groups.

We are just real, honest people. All helping each other to give up the booze. Come meet the other Brave Babes........................

And for those who would like to read the adventures so far, here are the links from the first four threads!

OK OK, I have done well to get to 35 without grey hairs so far. Either that or I was too drunk or hungover to notice until recently.

I am shutting out all talk of grey pubes though ... one thing at a time :)

Redmoomin, Glad you are feeling better today.
I shall worry less about the diet coke addiction for now. Although in a bit of a token gesture I am trying to alternate real diet coke with caffeine free diet coke. Glad to know the spots are normal and I am not hitting second puberty... I'll wait out the detox process ... am expecting a transformation once I get through this, all this talk of glowing skin!!

RedMoomin · 24/08/2010 09:29

MsGee - a couple of months ago I tried to stop with the diet coke. I went cold turkey over a weekend and on the Sunday I hit the booze. I am not saying they were connected but it has put me off worrying about it for now. My sponsor (at AA) told me in no uncertain terms to only worry about one thing at a time, 'First things first.' (Another AA slogan!) She's about 6 years sober so she knows what she's talking about. For once I am trying to do what I'm told!

Mouseface · 24/08/2010 09:36

Morning, I'm going to ignore the chat about grey pubes for a moment.......

Trinity

I have posted on your thread in chat too but I just wanted to wish you a wonderful day remembering Neil.

I hope that the weather is kind to you and that the day is filled with family, friends abd loved ones, all sharing memories with you and one another.

Enjoy the day for what it is, whether you drink or not.

We'll all be here for you too. Whenever you need us.

Take good care.

Mouse xx

RedMoomin, it sounds like a good plan. I stopped caffeine a while back to get healthy but strangely didn't consider stopping drinking... Hmmn, agree its a matter of priorities. Drink first.

We are hoping to move house soon so I might do something radical and join the gym that will be very close to the new place.

That reminds me ... must yell at some solicitors Grin

RedMoomin · 24/08/2010 09:39

trinity - I just wanted to echo what mouse has said about your day today. I hope you have a lovely day with friends and family. I will be thinking of you - as I am sure we all will.

Lots of love x x

RedMoomin · 24/08/2010 09:40

mouse - so sorry to have missed you last night!! How's your day shaping up? Did you kick some ass yesterday on DS's behalf?

MsGee - enjoy your rant at some solicitors!

Mouseface · 24/08/2010 10:00

Red

I just kicked ass in general yesterday. I've had a really rough night with him though. He doesn't do sleeping most nights and last night was utter shite.

Pha.

I may not around much today as I might just fall asleep on the spot!!! I am beyond tired.

Moan over.

MsGee

Meant to add about not just quiting the diet coke at the same time as the booze. No added pressure to what you are already trying to achieve. Red is spot on re the 'first things first'. Could you try and cut down or mix your drinks! Can you believe that? I just advised mixing drinks!! Grin

Anyway, if you can cut down, great, if you can't don't worry about it. I wasn't very clear yesterday. Tired as per. Smile

Off to check emails. Be back in a bit.

OP posts:
RedMoomin · 24/08/2010 10:04

You sound exhausted mouse. Will you maybe get a chance for a nap today?

Mouseface · 24/08/2010 10:06

Not a cat in Hells I'm afraid.

Chaos here. Early night and coffee for me! I may do a spot of exercise too and have a cool shower. That should perk me up. Smile

Just a blip...... him not sleeping. Hmm

OP posts:
RedMoomin · 24/08/2010 10:10

I hope that it is just a blip - for the whole family's sake x

Sounds like you have some good things planned to help the tiredness today.

Right I am also off to check my emails - I have about 3 addresses for various things and always seem to miss off one or the other!

maddogsandenglishmen · 24/08/2010 10:20

Hi there everyone! I didn't manage to post over the weekend and now there's just way too many posts to reply to!! I am reading though, as ever, and have been inspired and moved by many posts over the last few days, especially those from Mouse. :)

MsGee - I can't remember whether I have said "hello" to you or not Blush so Hello, just in case.

Trinity - I am thinking of you today

I had a fabulous weekend, really busy, no drinking despite going out for (a lovely Spanish) dinner on Saturday night. No wobbles at all. My head is really clearing and I'm actually starting to get the flat organised Shock Shock Shock

On Sunday we had a bit of a shock when we found rat poo in our basement, yuck, LOTS of it. To cut a very long story short, this turned out to be a blessing in very-smelly-disguise as it meant we cleaned out the basement which has needed doing for a looong time!

Work is exhausting me at the moment though. Yesterday I got home and just cried and cried because I was so tired and six men pushed passed me so that they could grab seats on the tram and I had to stand (I am VERY obviously pregnant).

Day 19 today and so grateful for it.

maddogsandenglishmen · 24/08/2010 10:24

Sorry if that sounded dismissive of your tiredness, Mouse, I didn't mean it that way at all. I imagine you would love to escape to the peace and quiet of my office for a while.

Hope you are able to get an early night tonight.

Mouseface · 24/08/2010 10:29

Maddogs

Can I just say, very well done for getting to day 19. I, for one, am really proud of you. I don't want you to think that I'm patronising you, I'm not. I am truly pleased for you, knowing that you have taken control and have stopped drinking.

Keep going!! Smile

RedMoomin · 24/08/2010 10:32

Well done maddogs! Brilliant stuff.

maddogsandenglishmen · 24/08/2010 10:43

Blush Thanks Mouseface and Moomin.

jesuswhatnext · 24/08/2010 10:48

mouse, so sorry your little fella cant sleep, im sorry but im ignorant of his condition, is this something that will get better as time goes on? (i am very scared of asking an upsetting question - i know he is so very precious!)

maddogs - my goodness lady!! you sound like a differant person already!! 19 days!!! bloody well done you!! - keep at it!

desiretochange · 24/08/2010 10:54

Morning everyone, congrats maddog on 19 days,
for me it's Day 3 again, but am happy to say that I set 3 goals for myself yesterday evening and I achieved them, i.e. didn't drink:) walked for 30 minutes:) and 15 minutes of decluttering:)

Mouseface · 24/08/2010 10:58

JWN

Nothing you could say would upset me, I promise. I'm totally at ease with everything he has. Smile

No idea in short. I have no idea if this is a blip, a phase, or more. As he gets older, they will do more tests/assessments. They will look at his behaviour and see if he has any learning difficulties to go along with his physical and motor skills developmental delay.

It's just hard work. I'll be grand in a bit! Toast and coffee on it's way. Smile

Thank you for asking. xx

Well done desire!
I went to my meeting, walked for 25 mins and had a lovely dinner with DH! So I was quite pleased too.
What are your plans for today?

mouse, thanks for that, i often think of him and wonder how he is, i think having a child with such special needs must be the hardest thing in the world - i have a very dear nephew who we nearly lost at birth, he ended up in gos for the first 2 months of his life, seeing his mothers dispair, joy, tears and happiness was awe inspiring - i thought any baby could be hard work but when you have a healthy one i think realising what other people go through is a bit of a shock.

wasindi - joanna lumley eh!, i have have an awful feeling im more like diana dors!! Grin
