Hello, welcome to thread five!! Smile

I'm Mouse and I'm 10 whole days sober which is bloody amazing given that I would normally consume nearly 90 units per week! And that's without 'special occasions'!! Shock

So, if I can do it, you can do it! The support here is awesome, no matter where you are in your quest to quit. No judging, no cliquey groups.

We are just real, honest people. All helping each other to give up the booze. Come meet the other Brave Babes........................

And for those who would like to read the adventures so far, here are the links from the first four threads!

JWN's original thread (the reason we are all here)

Agreed JWN, it's wonderful! I want to get back to that person. During that period of sobriety I was on top of the world. And that's what I want again!

desiretochange · 23/08/2010 14:40

Would love to lose at least a stone before Christmas, so would love to join you all in tackling the weight:)

Mouseface · 23/08/2010 14:44

Yay!!!!

The Brave Babes Battle The Booze and The Bulge!!!!!

All aboard!! Grin

Good stuff desire! (I would like to lose a stone too really but for some reason 11 lbs seems much less daunting! Is this my usual insane alky mind at work?!)

desiretochange · 23/08/2010 14:51

Could do with losing more than the stone Red but baby steps as everyone keeps saying:) My weight is one of the things on the list of things I dislike about myself (long list!!)

RedMoomin · 23/08/2010 14:56

Good thinking desire. If it's any help I was once almost 16 stone and lost 5 stone thought diet and a bit of walking. I did not think about where I wanted to get to I was just happy as long as the scales continued to go down. (Kind of like the one day at a time thing we say re alcohol!)

Mouseface · 23/08/2010 14:57

desire

You aren't supposed to like the list. That is the point. It needs to be long. It needs to be real.

It needs to be enough to make you change and take control.

OP posts:
desiretochange · 23/08/2010 15:04

Believe me Mouse, the list is long and getting longer the more I think about it:)

RedMoomin · 23/08/2010 15:08

But the great thing is... you can make changes and watch that list getting smaller.

desiretochange · 23/08/2010 15:22

I believe if I tackle my drinking problem and my weight problem then that will help me with all the other problem areas, I will be fitter and stronger and hopefully face things head on instead of being the proverbial ostrich:o

RedMoomin · 23/08/2010 15:30

I am also an ostrich, hence the problems with money. But I am facing things head on now! (Trying to anyway!)

desiretochange · 23/08/2010 16:07

Not so easy to take our heads out of the sand but will give it a shot:)

RedMoomin · 23/08/2010 16:12

Life is better when the head has been removed from the sand! It can be a bit of shock to begin with - but we'll soon get used to it!

desiretochange · 23/08/2010 16:21

Have decided that tonight I am going to
(a) Not drink
(b) Will go for 30 minute walk
(c) Spend 15 minutes decluttering

RedMoomin · 23/08/2010 16:23

That's brilliant!

I will be:
a, enjoying my tea with my DH
b, going to an AA meeting
c, going for a 30 min walk too!

and of course, not drinking!

Mouseface · 23/08/2010 16:24

Great desire

Plan your time away from drinking instead of planning your day up until drink o'clock.

I promise that this gets better. You will feel better. I can imagine that right now, you'd love a glass of wine. To counteract the hangover. Your body is craving alcohol again.

Keep drinking plenty to feel fuller. And have a sugary snack.

Keep busy. You are doing really well Smile

We can compare notes tomorrow Red and see how we got on:)

desiretochange · 23/08/2010 16:26

Have managed to drink a litre of water so far Mouse, if I can manage at least another half litre before bed I will be happy:)

RedMoomin · 23/08/2010 16:35

We will definitely compare notes tomorrow!

Almost sign-off time for me. Hope everyone has a good evening. Keep safe! x

desiretochange · 23/08/2010 16:42

See you tomorrow Red:)

Mouseface · 23/08/2010 16:55

Bye Red.

desire

You need about 3/4 pints of water a day to help flush the toxins out and stay hydrated. I'm on my fourth of the day! I have to stop around now or I'll be up all night!! Grin

Keep going. Little steps, small changes, one thing at a time.

Focus on the here and now, not on tomorrow or the next day, or the next. Bit by bit you will get your life back. The mirror will be your friend again.

You and others, will see 'you' again. It is worth it. It's always worth it.

And at the end of your journey, you can tell everyone you know that your greatest achievement in life, was saving one. Your own.

Smile
