Not meant in the spirit of nastiness or taste-bashing but, I don't get why people get even vaguely hot under the collar about...

Coldplay
REM
U2
Pink Floyd
Belle & Sebastian

(oh and Genesis, but shurely no-one likes them anyway )

What are your enigmatic over-raters?

Oh god, just seen Duffy mentioned. She is awful! Shockingly derivative and manufactured.

Oh, and agree with custy that "greatness" is bening confused with popularity on this thread. Have skim-read it mostly but...

Glad I'm not the only one to say The Beautiful South, though again probably not a Great band. They used to get good reviews though. IMO Travis could kick their arse.

niecie Stevie Wonder? I'm not dealing with that well. I guess if you don't like his stuff, you don't like his stuff, but have you listened to Talking Book? Tell me that's not an incredible album. [strokes chin]

Sorry to offend choosyfloosy - I did wonder (pardon the pun) if it might be tad contraversial to suggest Steve Wonder was anything less than great but his voice drives me insane.

I admit I haven't listened to one of his albums but I really couldn't bear it.

Radiohead
Coldplay (used to love them, but they all sound the same)
Bruce Springsteen
Meatloaf
Queen

(Will now read rest of thread to see if anyone agrees with me)

Crikey Marina!!!I saw The Beautiful South and REM at Huddersfield footie ground (Galpharm Stadium I think it is called now). I bet we bumped into each other without even knowing it.
