Not meant in the spirit of nastiness or taste-bashing but, I don't get why people get even vaguely hot under the collar about...

Coldplay
REM
U2
Pink Floyd
Belle & Sebastian

(oh and Genesis, but shurely no-one likes them anyway )

What are your enigmatic over-raters?

Why not Wendy? I was born in 1971 but I still know a lot of music from before my time.

WendyWeber · 04/06/2008 21:40

Because you are hearing them out of context.
What they did in the early 60s was stunning compared with what went before.

BigBadMouse · 04/06/2008 21:41

BigBadMouse · 04/06/2008 21:54

do you know it's great to find some women who like floyd, hendrix, led zeppelin etc - all the people who I know in RL who like that sort of thing are men

LyraSilvertongue · 04/06/2008 21:57

I like Hendrix and Zeppelin, but not Floyd.

LyraSilvertongue · 04/06/2008 21:58

It was The Wall that put me off. I hated that song. And the video with its walking hammers and children made into mince meat. Dreadful.

francagoestohollywood · 04/06/2008 22:01

Piffle, it was a concert I went to that seriously put me off the pf. I got totally bored

BigBadMouse · 04/06/2008 22:12

Hmmmm....The Wall is not one of my favourite songs but I think 'young lust' (on the same album) is fab in it's simplicity. Never bothered watching the videos but I have many happy memories as a child of listening to my pink floyd mix tape while laying on the flat roof of our garage for hours at night and watching the stars

I may just have to murder James Blunt

(sound is a bit poor sadly)

QueenofThebes · 06/06/2008 11:37

The Wall is one of Pink Floyd's worst songs and unfortunately is the one they are most known for

The haunting melody and emotional lyrics of "Shine on your Crazy Diamond" get me every time and once you realise that the song was written for Syd Barrett it makes it all the more poignant.

Do not get ....

Radiohead
Beck
Marilyn Manson
Nick Cave
Boyzone
Westlife
I could go on and on and on :O

FourJays · 06/06/2008 13:14

Kaiser Chiefs.
Worst lyrics ever!!!!

SirJimmySeville · 06/06/2008 14:45

Something's bothering me.

Are there actually people out there who think that Deacon Blue is/ever was a great band ? Erm...sense of perspective please.
