Not meant in the spirit of nastiness or taste-bashing but, I don't get why people get even vaguely hot under the collar about...

Coldplay
REM
U2
Pink Floyd
Belle & Sebastian

(oh and Genesis, but shurely no-one likes them anyway )

What are your enigmatic over-raters?

niceglasses · 04/06/2008 10:51

Rolling Stones

Oasis (in words of Simon Armitage last night, before they became their own tribute band)

Who

Razorlight - particualrly crap - how did they headline last yr?

I can't get away with Elbow, even tho I want to be well disposed towards them!

cupsoftea · 04/06/2008 10:52

The bands now - don't know their names but they're all rubbish

SheherazadetheGoat · 04/06/2008 10:56

deacon blue - bug the hell out of me with their humourless intensity and crappy pseudo allegoric lyrics.

i won't have a word said against radio head who carry off their humourless intensity with much greater aplomb

Twinkie1 · 04/06/2008 11:04

JDBfangirl · 04/06/2008 11:15

Twinkie1 - Dochertys in Babyshambles after being thrown out of The Libertines. I can't stand him either, gets far too much publicity for being a drug addled idiot

peacelily · 04/06/2008 11:24

Foo Fighters
Feeder
U2
Coldplay
Stereophonics

Twinkie1 · 04/06/2008 11:38

Enraha · 04/06/2008 15:58

Aero · 04/06/2008 16:02

Arctic Monkeys
The Who
The Jam
Depeche Mode
AC/DC etc

LittleMyDancing · 04/06/2008 16:05

oh god, the Manic Street Preachers - awful awful awful

jojosmaman · 04/06/2008 16:26

Definately Babyshambles/ Libertines

Guns N Roses- ALL their songs sound the same. DP and I have an ongoing arguement about Chilli Peppers v's Guns, he thinks he has won because GNR have sold more records or something but I think most people would got to a Chillis gig over GNR any day, what do you think??

The Beatles- Maybe I'm too young but I just don't get it and hate Macca

Coldplay [shudder emoticon]

The Sex Pistols- I suppose you had to be there

willow · 04/06/2008 17:49

Radiohead? Radiohead? Are you James Blunt fans or something? Am trying not to spit with fury at the computer as it will make the screen all messy.

MargaretMountford · 04/06/2008 17:50

Aero - the Who ? I guess you must be very young

LyraSilvertongue · 04/06/2008 20:00

Coldplay - so dull.

LyraSilvertongue · 04/06/2008 20:01

Deacon Blue - double dull.

zippitippitoes · 04/06/2008 20:01

manic street preachers a great band tho i concede the holy bible is a bit hard to swallow

LyraSilvertongue · 04/06/2008 20:02

Westlife, Boyzone and their ilk. What's to like.
Pink Floyd.

LyraSilvertongue · 04/06/2008 20:04

I'm very surprised the Smith, Nirvana and Red Hot Chili Peppers are mentioned on this thread. They're some of the best bands who ever lived.

LittleMyDancing · 04/06/2008 20:12

can't agree with you there zippi - they were just about bearable when Richey was still with them, but now they're just tosh.

Rubbish lyrics, and no idea of how to write lyrics that scan or make sense with the music.

aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhh

juliejukes · 04/06/2008 21:33

Zippi - the holy bible is my favourite MSP album! And agree with you Lyra-can't believe the Smiths have been mentioned on here and thought as being dull- some of their lyrics are hilarious!

WendyWeber · 04/06/2008 21:35

I don't think anyone born later than 1960 is entitled to include the Beatles in their list

WendyWeber · 04/06/2008 21:37

I mean have you heard anything from the 1950s?
