Bad WFH habits

The past few months I have been napping during my lunch break. Every day for about 45 minutes. Once when I first started napping I overslept so now I set an alarm Blush

Twice a week I get an almond croissant from the coffee shop for breakfast.

I’ve gone from washing my hair 4 times a week to every 10 days.

What bad habits have you picked up?

I belong on this thread...

I no longer dry my hair and straighten. It gets 60 sec rough dry then clipped on top of my head.

Casual clothes.

I put my phone on speaker for all meetings but I get invited to many where there is little or nothing I can contribute so I put away dry washing up or do ironing at the same time as listening to what's being said.

Looooots of snacks and thanks to the poster above now I can only think about getting an almond croissant first thing.

sapnupuas · 08/10/2020 21:13

I've stopped washing my hair every day. It's now about twice a week.

The traffic between my bedroom and living room is often quite bad so I'm 5/10 mins late in the morning.

Watching films instead of working.

Disappearing for 20 minutes at about 10 for a shower instead of getting ready before work.

Coffee4Queen · 08/10/2020 21:14

@Tiredforfive45 yes I have noticed that is less greasy. In the beginning it was so oily but now it’s in a much better condition. I haven’t used any heated tools either. I think I inadvertently started the curly girl method lol.

Snacking
To much coffee
Playing with my kitten
MNing of course
The only way I can get in to work mode is by wearing my uniform and useing the same note pads and pens that I would use at work , or it all goes to hell in a hand cart !

Couchbettato · 08/10/2020 21:17

It takes me 45 mins to get to sleep and I only have a half hour dinner break but id love to pick up the bad habit of lunchtime naps!

Figmentofimagination · 08/10/2020 21:18

playing on my phone during boring meetings (thank god im not on camera).
Waking up, rolling out of bed and starting work 5 mins later.
Spending the first few hours of the day in my pjs. Then getting changed into a random T-shirt and the PJ bottoms I wear during the day.
Napping on my lunch break (also have to set an alarm)

Hoctober · 08/10/2020 21:18

Before the schools went back, I got into the terrible habit of getting up at 8:50 to make the first Skype meeting at 9:00 Blush

Now I am getting up earlier, and actually getting out and running a couple of times a week before work, but I'm still loving wearing no make up, elasticised waists and natural hair.

Coffee4Queen · 08/10/2020 21:19

@MythicalBiologicalFennel

Sex with DH at lunchtime. We have more time for it and are both less tired than at night time. It's great - so much so that a few weeks ago we got so carried away I was late for a meeting Blush

That and snacking too much Grin

Excellent but that’s not a bad habit Grin

My phone. In the office I don’t get a signal and although I can use the WiFi, obviously it limited how much browsing I can do. I’m like a bloody teenager at home.

And I can’t leave it upstairs because we have loads of systems needing two factor authentication tokens I have to generate on my phone.

And the snacking.

LuaDipa · 08/10/2020 21:24

Snacking and jogging bottoms. Real
Clothes (with non-stretchy waistbands) don’t touch the sides now.Blush

Naticus · 08/10/2020 21:25

Not getting dressed.

I rarely brush my hair.

Far too much coffee, I've got a bean to cup here at work I had to have instant Sad

Lots of online shopping.

MabelFurball · 08/10/2020 21:26

In regular meetings there are always people presenting who drone through their slides. I usually pick my spots or pull out facial hairs while they are talking. Also look at my personal e-mails and internet. At lunchtime twice a week I take a two hour lunch break to go swimming. Would be more often if the regular meetings weren't there.

lioncitygirl · 08/10/2020 21:26

Forgetting to have breakfast and sometimes lunch - just working all the time.

Flipflophurray · 08/10/2020 21:27

I have worked from home for years. But lockdown had bought out all the bad habits. Hair washing and brushing - gone.

temproasted · 08/10/2020 21:27

My worst habit (and I'm ashamed to admit this) (and also gutted that no-one else has said it yet) is getting out of bed so late that I think 'right get logged on then back up for shower, clean teeth etc' and then getting breakfast and stuck into work and then realising at lunchtime Blush that the teeth didn't get cleaned.
Surely it can't just be me... can it?

Naticus · 08/10/2020 21:27

Oh preparing and eating lunch during work time, then having an hour watching tellyBlush

MadameMeursault · 08/10/2020 21:28

Eating lots and wearing stretchy clothes. Facebooking and Mumsnetting far too much!

Sweetchillijam · 08/10/2020 21:29

Some excellent ideas on this thread.

Mainly too much snacking, drinking too much coffee, if quiet I do little jobs in the house I set a timer on Alexa for 7 minutes (so my screen doesn’t close down) and I nip out and hang the washing out, do the recycling and run round with the hoover in works time (its surprising what you can get done in 7 minutes lol), also do a 5 minute meditation from you tube morning and afternoon if feeling stressed, close my eyes and put the footrest up on the sofa during whole service Teams meetings. I really hate Team meetings now begrudge the intrusion in my home.

midsomermurderess · 08/10/2020 21:30

I don't think napping is a bad habit. I have found myself having a bad post-lunch slump in the office. Now I can have a bit of a nap at home and have a productive afternoon. I'd say snacking for me. Well, that might explain the slump.

yeOldeTrout · 08/10/2020 21:33

Have turned into a complete & utter soap dodger.
I exaggerate a bit, but still, very lazy about showering. Will wear the same clothes for many days straight.
I don't remotely accept any of that is 'bad' habit, tbh.

Think I always wanted to be like this, but couldn't get away with it before.

midsomermurderess · 08/10/2020 21:35

Oh, and realising I'm on a video call with a grubby, stained top.

PullAPi · 08/10/2020 21:35

I've taken to bringing my laptop into the bathroom and working from a bubble bath Blush I plonk it down on the toilet lid next to the bath and occasionally send a few quick emails and then enjoy a soak 😂

Also the napping, snacks, not gotten out of my pyjamas for months, chores during meetings.

I've watched a few boxsets too now.

No, it's not just you...Blush
PurBal · 08/10/2020 21:36

Wearing PJ bottoms all the time. Not putting on a bra.

Lol at the traffic being bad... If I weren’t on maternity leave I’d totally be trying out this excuse in my first meetings of the day to see if anyone picked me up on it!!
