Bad WFH habits

The past few months I have been napping during my lunch break. Every day for about 45 minutes. Once when I first started napping I overslept so now I set an alarm Blush

Twice a week I get an almond croissant from the coffee shop for breakfast.

I’ve gone from washing my hair 4 times a week to every 10 days.

What bad habits have you picked up?

For those of you who have to be on camera, I have found holding a pen and occasionally waggling it while playing games or scrolling in your phone looks like you are diligently taking notes. I also periodically ask a question in the chat box that will cover any topic ( if I’ve not been listening). My favourites are ‘can you send me a copy of this presentation’, ‘this has really helped me reflect on my practice, Thankyou’.

CantDoMessyBuns · 10/10/2020 17:01

That advice is GOLD @Copperblack Grin

I’m back in the office now, but still in a lot of Zoom meetings. I shall have my pen and my cardboard cut out questions ready for Monday morning! Thank you!

ememem84 · 10/10/2020 17:15

I am so glad someone mentioned breakfast pudding!!!

Hollowtree3 · 10/10/2020 18:01

TBH I had breakfast pudding when at work too, started 7ish, breakfast 8ish, we chocolate thing by 9am. Snack also at 10am. It’s the only way I can get through the day...

Livpool · 10/10/2020 18:16

Getting a shower after I have logged on and doing little jobs around the house. I have to do laundry in my own time I get annoyed!

TwentyViginti · 10/10/2020 19:21

Your WFH habits are now preserved for eternity! you made Classics! Grin

I've been working from home since July 2019. I thought I would hate it. But I LOVE IT.
I shower daily (have the school run to do still), I've never worn make up really (don't know how to put it on) so no change there. My bra doesn't hurt me and I hate not wearing one.

I'm the only staff member at my work. No one else. Just me. No one to keep track of me. But boy I feel the guilt if I haven't "done" enough.

DH is working from home too now. We've had a couple of sex meetings but not nearly enough. Especially as we have a 14 year old and 10 year old. School time for them is our only chance at the mo - they are always around or not deeply enough asleep.

My bad habit is the consumption of too many bacon and egg sandwiches especially as my DH makes them for me!

Online shopping 🤦‍♀️ Much more than when I working. Too much time on my hands.

DukeOfEarlGrey · 10/10/2020 22:51

Daytime naps here too. I actually think they’re a good thing because they don’t last long (no longer than a short lunch break) and make me much more alert afterwards. I’m a total lark and have always longed for a post-lunch nap at work! No one knows I do it, though - it would sound awful.

Belledan1 · 10/10/2020 22:57

Lol Livpol I do that too re the shower and get upset re the laundry. Sometimes also I get up at 7 do a couple emails. Looks like started work early then don't log on until normal time. The other week I was quite cross that I had to do my basic housework on a saturday morning as did not have time to do it un between work on the Friday. How did I cope before.

Coffee4Queen · 11/10/2020 13:33

@grassisjeweled

You can also invite yourself to a meeting on Teams, dial in and mute . . .

wishywashywoowoo70 · 12/10/2020 22:13

So so many of those things.

Log on do a few bits then go for a shower

Do a bit more, put the hoover around
Bit more, dishes and a wash on. But more put lunch on to cook so cooking time is not in your actual break.

Actually popped out for a tyre change today too.

Was getting proper skanky until school started again.

One thing that a noticed I'm doing though is getting frustrated when you get geared up for 10 minute skivving on MN and there are no new posts on the threads you're watching.

EggysMom · 13/10/2020 07:33

Just read a good idea if it works - take off your (analog) watch and sit your optical mouse on the watch face - the ticking could be enough for your mouse to register movement and stop your laptop from sleeping. One to try, certainly...

orangejuicer · 13/10/2020 18:03

I might have to leave the thread. Yesterday AND today - I wore a bra and put makeup on.

wishywashywoowoo70 · 13/10/2020 18:12

Productive day today

Managed a wash, hoover all downstairs cleaned bathroom and made a steak lunch
All whilst 'working'

NightCzar · 13/10/2020 19:54

I feel as though I've wasted a lot of time WFH after reading some of these! I have got my act together and cleaned the kitchen during a firmwide call yesterday and will do the floor during an online conference call today. I can't understand bra less ness though. Mine are more comfy when restrained.

siddlydiddly · 13/10/2020 20:03

Not washing hair everyday, living in joggers and t-shirt. Filing nails during meetings and browsing internet and on-line shopping.

I like the idea of Almond croissants and cake and cuppa at 10.30am. I think I'm becoming a hermit working from home. I have frequent conversations with myself about the Pros and Cons of going out, in the end I usually stay in Smile

DollyDan · 13/10/2020 22:40

Mouse jiggler ordered, game changer! Smile much more productive than in the office but Netflix on in background all day, baths at lunch, too many snacks and have been painting the hallway while listening to less important presentations with camera off (sticker over it) am outstanding at online shopping while in meetings, who knew!

Dawnlassie · 14/10/2020 08:24

Working from home. Giving Britain saggy tits since spring 2020.

Coffee4Queen · 14/10/2020 11:34

This week I was determined to break my ‘bad’ habits, 20 minute HIIT, then a walk during lunch instead of napping, lots of green veg for snacking and to make more of an effort dressing up.

Instead what has happened...I got out my electric blanket which I have placed on the sofa to make my snooze more comfy.
I bought a ridiculous amount of peanut punch cartons and a couple bags of frozen pan au raisins & chocolate (thanks to another thread about special supermarket purchases)
I received a new work laptop which has a built in camera lens cover!

There’s always next week right?

A real CBA day today. Logged onto work but done feck all unless you count arsing around on Instagram in my dressing gown. Just about to eat my 5th piece of toast. Might catch up with the rest from the pub this afternoon.

Wonder what you all do?! Most of my work (freelance teaching) has dried up, leaving the online stuff. Scraping the bottom of the barrel for things to do.

cricketmum84 · 14/10/2020 14:44

@InspiredbyMoomins I'm a payroll manager in a sector that's been very hard hit by furlough. I've definitely been working longer hours as the calculations are so complicated but it's been nice to do it from my own home with my cats on my knee!

Quandaries · 14/10/2020 15:16

I have a long-standing hour-long meeting at 3pm every Wednesday.

A few weeks ago, the person who organises the meeting rescheduled it due to diary conflicts but I didn’t free up the time on my work calendar.

Now, every Wednesday at 3pm, I pop in a teeth whitening strip and watch Netflix.

I’m usually really diligent. Honest.

I’ve ordered a couple of non wired bralettes from Bravissimo and leggings from Lucy Locket Loves. I feel I need more comfortable clothes!
