Bad WFH habits

Coffee4Queen · 08/10/2020 20:50

The past few months I have been napping during my lunch break. Every day for about 45 minutes. Once when I first started napping I overslept so now I set an alarm Blush

Twice a week I get an almond croissant from the coffee shop for breakfast.

I’ve gone from washing my hair 4 times a week to every 10 days.

What bad habits have you picked up?

I would say my beauty routine has improved as I've had nothing else to fill my spare time with (in lockdown) and it was basically non existent before so that's a plus but I've definitely got into the habit of just staying home even though we can go out now.

I basically live in my pyjamas outside of work or lounge wear and my weight is creeping up as I've started eating Nutella filled croissants every day for breakfast.

I'm also starting to think Phil and Holly are close friends. I might even phone in for spin to win.

Lazysundayafternoons · 09/10/2020 19:23

In March I was constantly snacking.

July onwards has been crazy busy workwise and I now forget to eat breakfast and lunch most days. If I was in the office I'd probably be more organised about lunches or I'd be able to pop to the shop to get something.

I've stopped washing my hair as much and hardly ever wear makeup any more.

I live in leggings and hoodies now.

Eating too much.

orangetriangle · 09/10/2020 19:34

absolutely love working from home get just as much done and dont have to listen to people twittering on!! have invested in these crop top things more comfy than a bra and invested in lots of comfy jogging leisure type suits
Def have 1 pyjama day a week though didnt at first
am guilty of forgetting to clean my teeth and dozing off on some of the team meetings where dont need to contribute
Also agree amazing how much you can get done in a screen break housework wise though overall I'm probably working longer
Love the minute commute to work and not standing out in cold wasting time waiting for public transport

@BookSkark I’m with you there. I genuinely pay more attention if I’ve got crochet on the go because I’m not trying to multi task with emails or other work. Can’t do anything too complicated though - nothing that needs counting!

This week I virtually presented some awards over Zoom. Top half black tie, posh top, jewellery, full make up. But only front of hair straightened and pjs on the bottom out of shot Grin

FortunesFavour · 09/10/2020 19:52

@Chickenwing
I have this TEAMS problem too and I’ve cracked it! Method as follows:

  1. open word document
  2. balance heavyish ornament on keyboard so it holds down a random key (I use a little marble hippo)
  3. step away from computer as word document fills with ddddddddddddddddddd for 6 pages as you’re having a shower.

TEAMS will keep registering you as available. Just keep an eye out for any chat messages coming though!

I love this thread. It’s had me in stitches. I particularly love the dirty toothed farter upthread GrinGrinGrin So funny!

grassisjeweled · 09/10/2020 19:54

I threw the towel in today and logged in as a user on MN on my work laptop - so I can now add comments. Resistance is futile it seems

Had pain aux bananes for lunch Confused

And watched bake off from 10am-11am - quite fancy Noël

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 09/10/2020 20:06

@FortunesFavour That is genius!!!

FortunesFavour · 09/10/2020 20:09

Thanks Allmyarse...I’ve been covertly testing the method for months and it works a treat.

Jugglingmummy28 · 09/10/2020 20:14

I'm loving this thread. What is the best crop top brand to wear instead of a bra? I tried a couple but none suited me .

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 09/10/2020 20:32

I am not washing my hair much either! I'm drinking too much coffee.
Not taking my lunch breaks! But I'm going to start to take them after reading about the baths and the naps! Grin

I have got really paranoid about being seen or listened to after all the video meetings etc. I stuck blue tac on my camera just in case 😂

alied321 · 09/10/2020 20:37

Not putting my camera on for Teams meetings and doing my ironing during the meeting

Sevo7 · 09/10/2020 20:40

Fantastic thread and so much of this familiar. I’ve just gone back to the office 3 days a week after wfh for 6 months as my productivity had hit rock bottom. What I’m really, really struggling with is wearing a bra again for more that an hour Blush For the whole of lockdown I only put one on to pop to the supermarket. Also finding I still snack constantly at my desk and have gone from wearing smart trousers and shoes to stretchy jeans and ugg boots to work..I don’t think I’ll ever be able to wear normal clothes again tbh Blush

Lactarius · 09/10/2020 20:56

I have started making chain mail armour during meetings - am currently working on a coif

badg3r · 09/10/2020 21:04

I have also done the napping and croissants but blamed it on being eight months pregnant! When I am back at work I'll have to see if this continues...!

HappyThursdays · 09/10/2020 21:31

Other thing on Teams is it has the facility for you to do a test call (settings/devices). You can call it, it checks your voice (makes a recording and plays it back) but what I realised is if you don't hang up, it still registers that you are on a call. Which is marvellous as it shows you're 'in a call' and generally people disturb you less Grin

I've also gone to washing my hair once a week (looks loads better for it), no make up, no hand bag arranging, no work shoes - in fact I put work shoes on the other day as I had to go into work for something and I got blisters!

Wine o clock has moved distinctly earlier Blush
