what do I do?!

I have NEVER moved so fast, was in bed it flew in the window like a bat out of hell and I've ran out slamming the door behind me.

Now tell me it's likely to fly out on his accord whilst I do the school run?

Thought this was going to be a thread about Naomi Cambell!

Open the windows and pull back curtains, blinds or nets. Shut bedroom door. Leave bedroom and bird will fly out.

After it's pecked at your sock drawer!

hogsback · 12/05/2011 07:32

Close all curtains except on one window. Open that window. Close door. Switch off light.

lynehamrose · 12/05/2011 07:36

After its pecked on your sock drawer..... And shat on your duvet...

ChinnityRhino · 12/05/2011 07:43

nope it wont go out oof its own accord cause they seem a bit thick once inside and forget how they got in

I'm joking it might, but you may have to help it out

ChinnityRhino · 12/05/2011 07:44

blackbirds are cute, go and catch it and release it out of the wondow
I had to do this with a swift/swallow..one of them, cant ever get them right yesterday

keep · 12/05/2011 07:47

Put some bread on the windowsill?

ChinnityRhino · 12/05/2011 07:49

he'll nip out onto the windowledge, grab the bread and then dance all voer your duvet dropping bits everywhere whilst he eats in, then poop becasue he's eaten Grin

HumperdinkFangboner · 12/05/2011 09:35

Right am back and the bird remains.

I'm not going in there, it's bloody huge!

poor thing is probably as scared as you!

have you got cardbord boxes that you could flatten to carefully drive the bird towards the window?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 12/05/2011 09:46

You should go to the parlour and eat some bread and honey. Once the maid has hung the clothes out she'll sort it.

Psammead · 12/05/2011 09:47

Are you afraid of birds?

If not, you need to herd it out. Try not to touch it. Do you have a duve cover? You could try getting it in there and then take it outside to release it in a safe place.

Blackbirds stay very still and quiet when afraid and feeling cornered, flying away is a last resort. So you probably could gently pop a duvet cover on it.

colditz · 12/05/2011 09:49

is it a blackbird, or is it a black bird?

You need to go in there and make sure the window's wide open.

HumperdinkFangboner · 12/05/2011 09:54

It's a black bird, it's neither small nor cute. It's like a Terrordactyl.

The windows are wide open, that's how he got in.

I'm not going in there, if it was a robin fine but a robin it ain't!

Psammead · 12/05/2011 09:58

Oh in that case you better start charging rent Grin

Go in there banging a saucepan.

Nancy66 · 12/05/2011 09:59

It won't fly out - the longer you leave it the more it's going to shit everywhere and scratch at everything.
Can you enlist the help of a neighbour.

I caught a bird once by throwing a heavy towel over it, scooping it up in the towel and then shaking it outside.....

ChinnityRhino · 12/05/2011 09:59

well if its a big black horrid thing then run in screaming and shouting and cross your fingers Grin

ChinnityRhino · 12/05/2011 09:59

just grab it you pansy Grin

am I helping yet? Grin

keep · 12/05/2011 09:59

It could be a crow.

Could you not dress up as worzel gummidge and scare the fuck out of it?

HumperdinkFangboner · 12/05/2011 10:01

Bloody husband.

Right I've got a towel and the long Hoover attachment.

ChinnityRhino · 12/05/2011 10:01

Buda · 12/05/2011 10:02

Ugh. You poor thing.

No advice other than ask a neighbour for help?

ChinnityRhino · 12/05/2011 10:02

you're not going to beat it up are you?

Psammead · 12/05/2011 10:02

Go go go!

SomebodyNew · 12/05/2011 10:02

Is the window the opposite side to the door? Maybe if so try making a bit of noise at the door to encourage it in that direction?

MrsPlesWearsAFez · 12/05/2011 10:03

What is the Hoover attachment for?

Good luck!
