What do you think of the Iris and Peter Robinson Affair

DuelingFanjo · 07/01/2010 14:13

tell me about them? I don't know much

story

clicky for his statement

I don't know, I find him a bit odd. I can't imagine she is/was that happy in the relationship if she had an affair. I wonder if her affair was all her fault? He doesn't sound like he's forgiven her in his statement.

Is it all such a big deal because of their moral views?

Loving this.....

eelie not sure that the toyboy is catholic....Kirk and East Belfast don't normally equal Catholic. I could be wrong though but I would be very very shocked.

Bubble & Blue I have heard those rumours too. My first thought was that the DV had reached fever pitch in March on not a possible suicide attempt.

Anyother rumer is that someone very very close to the family is gay...which I think goes a long way to her 'love the sinner, hate the sin' quote.

TheYearOfTheCat · 10/01/2010 10:19

The thing about the 50K - how many other 'gifts' and 'loans' has she received, from either these two property developers, or others?

I wonder will there be a proper audit of all donations which have been made to the 'Light n Life' church?

Ronald - you have ruined Hugh Grant for me! I may never be able to view him in the same light.

Tee2072 · 10/01/2010 10:28

DH picked up the Sunday Life for me just now. They claim she had an affair with Kirk, a DUP 'pal' and a business man.

Busy woman our Mrs Robinson...

bubble2bubble · 10/01/2010 10:33

No wonder she needed so many assistants then

mrsdennisleary · 10/01/2010 10:38

Tee2072 off to try to get Sunday Life now. Did feel that there were likely to have been more instances in past. Rumours re builders for years.

bubble2bubble · 10/01/2010 11:14

Hilarious - going to dig my way out and get the Sunday Life to read the 'truth'
Wonder if she had an affair with Nigel

paulaplumpbottom · 10/01/2010 11:23

So there are more?

Tee2072 · 10/01/2010 12:28

OMG even the Sunday Times has a picture spread with a reference to The Graduate!

It would appear so Paula.

Oh and she's too ill to answer questions. But she appears to be skiing just fine...

paulaplumpbottom · 10/01/2010 12:46
Shock
PlumBumMum · 10/01/2010 13:22

Hilarious

paulaplumpbottom · 10/01/2010 13:25

LOL
Thats priceless

Harriedandflustered · 10/01/2010 13:28

Reading about this repulsive pair, made me wonder again about the quality of our politicians.

The electoral system seems to me to be deeply flawed if it produces low-grade politicians who are ethically dubious, design expense rules to line their own pockets, and then even cheat on the expenses rules they devised. Some Westminster politicians seem pretty unintelligent to me, and I have a sneaking suspicion that for some of them, politics is a refuge because they really wouldn't be able to earn a decent wage in the real world.

How can we entrust people like this to do good work that benefits society as a whole?

Tee2072 · 10/01/2010 15:00

All politicians are the same, no doubt. And we should just assume, IMHO, that they are corrupt and not expect anything different.

But I am a political cynic.

mrsdennisleary · 10/01/2010 17:43

Not entirely fair IMO re MPs' abilities. I do think that one of the more unsavoury aspects of Norn Iron politics is the concentration of power and office in the hands of a few. How can Iris have been doing her job as Cllr, MP and MLA and all her extra-curricular activities?

Tee2072 · 10/01/2010 18:08

Extra-curricular? Like taking kickbacks and sleeping with young men?

The big shock is that it made my dad's paper in a small town in Florida, USA.

paulaplumpbottom · 10/01/2010 18:39

I know!!!!!!!! It made the Lakeland Ledger which is the local paper in the part of Florida I'm from.

mathanxiety · 10/01/2010 18:41

If you make the right noises on the one set of issues that has traditionally mattered in NI, you can be elected and reelected regardless of your ability to actually do any good for those you 'represent'.

moondog · 10/01/2010 19:56

Observer had a good piece on it

She is indeed truly repulsive.

moondog · 10/01/2010 19:57

She's cutting a dash on the slopes thoguh.

ashbrook · 10/01/2010 20:43

According to todays Sunday Tribune - she had an affair with Kirk father -

SebbysMum · 10/01/2010 20:44

Am I the only one who suspects that the widespread coverage is partly because journalists are still giggling about Mrs Robinson's affair with a 19 year old. Wonder how many of them are wondering around the newsroom humming the song...?

Tee2072 · 10/01/2010 20:49

I've been wandering around the house humming the song, SebbysMum, so why not them around the newsroom?

Mumfun · 10/01/2010 21:06

Its always the quiet ones. Peter Robinson looked such a boring deputy to flamboyant Paisley for all those years. Reminds me of the quiet John Major - who could have guessed what he was up to as well!

paulaplumpbottom · 10/01/2010 21:25

It just gets better and better. I can't believe he hasn't resigned already.

cloelia · 10/01/2010 21:30

59? AND 19? wow.
