What do you think of the Iris and Peter Robinson Affair

tell me about them? I don't know much

story

clicky for his statement

I don't know, I find him a bit odd. I can't imagine she is/was that happy in the relationship if she had an affair. I wonder if her affair was all her fault? He doesn't sound like he's forgiven her in his statement.

Is it all such a big deal because of their moral views?

joke sent from mum - Iris told Peter she has friend in financial difficulty, and what should she do?

Peter said, "We're in the middle of an ecomomic recession fgs. Fuck him!"

here

Good article - mentions the allegations of domestic violence which she has denied but she has been in and out of hospital 18 times in recent years though she claims they were gynaecological problems.

They also claimed £150,000 to employ their children and claimed a total of £570,000+ in salary and allowances last year. They are not fit to be in government.

'He is the other son I would have loved to have been a mother to.'

Gag

pointsmakeprizes · 09/01/2010 10:43

I think he is worse then her regardless of the domestic violence allegations, he publicly announced his wife tried to commit suicide and made out she is a mental case to garner sympathy for him and to save his own political career.

How do we know that she really tried to commit suicide - IF she was a victim of domestic violence (I do not know if there is any truth in this) there is the possibility that her injuries were not self inflicted - how do you think a man who is capable of such acts would really react if he found out his wife was cheating on him and was about to their destroy his career? Anyway this is pure speculation on my part! And if she was later to come out with these allegations then he could respond that she was mentally unstable and look she already tried to kill herself.

Anyway she claims that god has forgiven her and she off for a nice holiday in Chamonix now. Maybe she'll hook up with Tiger Wood's wife there.

petisa - can't just imagine McCrea in Stormont with music piped into every room?

Bear · 09/01/2010 10:59

I think it's all incredibly sad. The pair of them are self-interested bigots and completely without integrity and deserve their dark dealings exposed. What NI/the NoI needs right now is people of integrity and they appear to be very short on the ground

MmeLindt · 09/01/2010 11:06

Will look out for Mrs Robinson in Geneva then.

MmeLindt · 09/01/2010 11:07

Ew at the staged interview with the 'Dad, no matter how tall I grow, I will always look up to you' sign in the background.

Please, Mrs PR woman.

cocolepew · 09/01/2010 11:45

It was the DV rumours I was refering to.

paulaplumpbottom · 09/01/2010 11:47

DV rumors?

cocolepew · 09/01/2010 11:48

Domestic violence

Ronaldinhio · 09/01/2010 11:53

yeah more to the rumours than gynae probs...

nigel dodds to take over and favourite with Paddy Power

cocolepew · 09/01/2010 11:55

God I hate Nigel Dodds.

DuelingFanjo · 09/01/2010 12:02

Surely though, if she had been hospitalised through DV then something would have been done about it by the police at the very least?

OP posts:
bubble2bubble · 09/01/2010 12:02

who was the one caught in a dodgy massage parlour - was that Nigel Dodds?

bubble2bubble · 09/01/2010 12:04

I don't think the police can do anything with DV unless the victim wants to press charges ( might be wrong though )

cocolepew · 09/01/2010 12:04

I first heard the dv rumours over 20 years ago I don't know why it never hit the papers, or maybe it did. I never paid any heed to the news in them days.

Ronaldinhio · 09/01/2010 12:05

in those days the police wouldn't have forced her to press charges

cocolepew · 09/01/2010 12:06

I also know a very salacious story about Rose Neil [zips lips]

DuelingFanjo · 09/01/2010 12:07

no - but I mean if it was a beating up rather than a suicide, these days the police would have to get involved?

cocolepew · 09/01/2010 12:10

I'm a bit confused by the timeline about her going to hospital, I got the impression she tried it at night, in the morning Peter went to work and a pastor came around and thens he was taken to hospital. I'm probably totally wrong mind you.

jardy · 09/01/2010 12:11

Fascinating,thanks for the comments.
I wonder what their grown up children, think.
What about her daughter-in-law?
I would have been very intimidated by a m-i-l like that. The parents seem very powerful and scary.Did Kirk feel intimidated and unable to wriggle out of a situation?
Poor boy.

glastocat · 09/01/2010 12:15

I'm from Northern Ireland too, brought up in darkest deepest DUP territory, so I'm finding this whole story uttery hilarious!

My mum is loving it too. She keeps ringing me up and cackling like a loon at each fresh development. She has hated Iris for years, especially since her anti gay pronouncements last year. The only way the story would have been better is if Kyle had been a repubican.
