What do you think of the Iris and Peter Robinson Affair

DuelingFanjo · 07/01/2010 14:13

tell me about them? I don't know much

story

clicky for his statement

I don't know, I find him a bit odd. I can't imagine she is/was that happy in the relationship if she had an affair. I wonder if her affair was all her fault? He doesn't sound like he's forgiven her in his statement.

Is it all such a big deal because of their moral views?

Surely neither are a step in the right direction

bubble2bubble · 08/01/2010 22:22

Ronaldinhio · 08/01/2010 22:23

I think many would disagree

PlumBumMum · 08/01/2010 22:23

For those of you who are interested I think it might be shown tonight again on BBC News 503 at 11.30 can't get a programme discription but think it is the spotlight from last night

Ronaldinhio · 08/01/2010 22:28

are the peter robinson rumours true or did Paisley's moving on put a grave shiver through the NI Assembley and Sinn Fein?

bubble2bubble · 08/01/2010 22:39

bubble2bubble · 08/01/2010 23:19

Getting back to the point - where do you reckon this affair went on?
Did she fly him out to their villa in Florida and claim for flights on her MP expenses?

paulaplumpbottom · 08/01/2010 23:20

His yucky bachlor pad I bet

Ronaldinhio · 08/01/2010 23:35

dire warnings on newsnight....did you just see?
some rough old times personally for our party leaders

LadyBiscuit · 08/01/2010 23:49

irishbird - the sad thing is that everyone I know from NI says the same thing. All the good people leave (not that I blame you). So the province is stuck in the hands of bigots which isn't good for anyone

DuelingFanjo · 09/01/2010 01:23

Absolutely irishbird

"And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files
We'd like to help you learn to help yourself
Look around you, all you see are sympathetic eyes
Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home

And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Hide it in a hiding place where no one ever goes
Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes
It's a little secret, just the Robinsons' affair
Most of all, you've got to hide it from the kids

Coo, coo, ca-choo, Mrs Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know (Wo, wo, wo)
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)

Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon
Going to the candidates debate
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you've got to choose
Ev'ry way you look at it, you lose

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio
A nation turns its lonely eyes to you (Woo, woo, woo)
What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson
Joltin' Joe has left and gone away
(Hey, hey, hey...hey, hey, hey)"

PR does attract rumours that he's handy with his hands, and not in a good way. Still, seing as her toyboy was a catholic maybe she just thought she was doing her bit for the peace process

MrsBlackbeard · 09/01/2010 02:18

ellie

Tee2072 · 09/01/2010 07:48

Ladybiscuit although its true that a lot leave, quite a few come back. The organization I work for is encouraging that very thing by promoting tech businesses. Our goal is to make NI the Silicon Valley of the UK, if not all of Europe, and we are rapidly meeting out goal.

As someone who has lived here 6 years, I can honestly say I've seen some amazing changes in just that time. I can only imagine how it seems to someone who lived through The Troubles.

And ellie.

foxinsocks · 09/01/2010 07:54

I keep seeing it on the news and thinking about the lad's mum! Must be odd seeing your boy embroiled in a scandal like this. Especially as they (the 2 families!) were family friends.

cocolepew · 09/01/2010 09:39

The "toyboy lovers" (as the press are now calling him ) dad asked Iris "to look after him" when he died. I'm not sure this is what he had in mind.

The Robinsons are protestants but the cruical difference is they are Free P and Unionists. He has to go, but I can't think of who could replace him. We don't have the best MPs to pick from. Maybe Willie MacCrea hahahahahahahaha

bubble2bubble · 09/01/2010 10:08

Funny you should say that - DH & I were just speculating last night that McCrea could be setting his sights on Stormont now

cocolepew · 09/01/2010 10:10

Willie is being sued for stealing music He's used some and hasn't got the copyright, I think.

petisa · 09/01/2010 10:17

as long as he doesn't sing

paulaplumpbottom · 09/01/2010 10:19

Oh Ellie thats funny
