The only operations my daughter in law has had are 4 c- sections the last was 20 months ago and since then she has had lower abdominal pain, yesterday she was getting shooting pains and my son pulled this from her, he says it's feels like plastic but could be metal. Does anyone have any idea on what it could be?

Can anyone identify this thing that came out of my DIL

She could contact the hospital, switchboard to get her surgeon's details. They will be able to solve the mystery object.
Does your/her area have a sexual health clinic? Might be able to help?

So it's okay to look at pictures, just not in person?!

I'm no gynaecologist so a picture is as good as seeing it person 😂 so no need to see it over a cuppa

So the DIL is ok with her MIL looking at a photo of her genitals but would rather not divulge what the problem is to the doctor’s receptionist? I don’t blame her for that; I’d just say “I’ll discuss it with the doctor thanks” but I can’t imagine in a million years being sent such intimate photos of a family member. Something about it seems a bit “off”

It's not swarf as my son does not work with metal, and no she did not have a coil she was supposed to be sterilised during her last section but they didn't do it for some unknown reason.
Saschka it was a photo of a body part nothing sexual more medical you can compartmentalise the difference between them, like I said up thread I have seen many before and I even have one myself,
I'm sure dil will try and get a GP appointment but our surgery is a phone on the day type and the phone line opens at 8:30 and by 9am all appointments have gone and dil in normally on the bus during that time taking the grandchildren to school and you have to tell the receptionist a brief indication of the problem and I'm sure she would rather remain anonymous

Surely those calls are just for emergency, on the day appointments?
No receptionist needs to know these details, just that she wishes to see a doctor, not urgently.
Also most surgeries are signed up to the almost nationwide Patchs system whereby you can explain your problem in writing and upload photographs. Similarly the NHS App can be used in this way

You might be close to your children and their partners but I think it is possible to be too close 🤣

By all means go to the doctor but this is pretty weird for ME. But maybe I'm weird and it's perfectly normal to send your mother a picture of your wife's business.

You don't have to tell the receptionist what the problem is. They like to give you the impression that you do, but I queried this with our practice manager recently because I am also normally commuting during the window for getting appointments. All you need to say is that it is personal matter and you're in public and not prepared to give details at the moment but you need an appointment with a GP. Your DIL might need to hold her ground, but they should help her without the details.

Longleggedblond · 18/09/2024 16:06

Did she have clips on her wound or a continous suture with a bead each side of wound? sorry but photo isn't great.

PenelopePitStrop · 18/09/2024 16:07

I doubt it would cause months of abdominal pain and shooting pains unless it has caused an infection.

Your DIL needs to see a doctor.

And maybe David Attenborough.

Longleggedblond · 18/09/2024 16:09

sorry didn't scroll down. I assumed fro abdominal wound not her nether regions.

PenelopePitStrop · 18/09/2024 16:10

WRT to Receptionist just say 'lower abdominal pain and shooting pains'. No need to mention UFOs (Unidentified Fanny Objects) .

If questioned further "I prefer not to go into more detail at the moment'

Sampler · 18/09/2024 16:20

On what planet is it normal to look at a photo of your daughter in law’s fanny? Even if I’d a velociraptor up there my MIL wouldn’t get a pic.

Pmsl my elderly mother told her to eat yogurt as it helps with problems "down there"

Other dil is also here and she thinks that it might of come from the washing machine, but we have had quite a few giggles over this, we think her pains and this ufo might be unrelated and the ufo is plastic not metal and son felt it before he searched for it.
Other dil is very disappointed that I didn't post the more graphic photo.

Thanks for this. My GP,practice receptionists won't give you an appo8ntment unless you say what it's for (and that's for any appointment, not same day ones) I might try your approach

It gets worse!

What next..?

Itsnotallaboutyoulikeyouthink · 18/09/2024 17:36

It’s flippin weird as heck. Son fingers wife to go looking for object, finds and extracts object, takes a photo and sends it to mummy and a photo of her privates too. Mil posts all about it on mumsnet. I mean I’d prob just call the doctor tbh, your still no clearer to any conclusion other than we no you have no boundaries. 🤮

Josette77 · 18/09/2024 17:36

I think it's from a suture.

I think you sound like a lovely mil! Ignore the haterade. 😉

PunishmentSnart · 18/09/2024 17:42

You sound lovely and I don’t find the photo thing odd.

I would probably send the same to my MIL- we are super close and will get changed in front of each other etc. I haven’t had my own mum for nearly 20 years so she is my go to for ‘woman stuff’

LBFseBrom · 18/09/2024 17:44

She sat on something while she was undressed.

Itsnotallaboutyoulikeyouthink, I missed the bit where the op said her son sent her a photo of his wife's privates.

That is most......unusual. I think I need a lie down after reading that.

That's marvellous. I'll remember UFO forever.
