The only operations my daughter in law has had are 4 c- sections the last was 20 months ago and since then she has had lower abdominal pain, yesterday she was getting shooting pains and my son pulled this from her, he says it's feels like plastic but could be metal. Does anyone have any idea on what it could be?

Can anyone identify this thing that came out of my DIL

If it's plastic an MRI would show anything else left behind

He first sent me the photo of it in his hand then he was trying to explain (badly) where he pulled it from so he then sent the second photo with her permission, but it's OK I know what they look like as I also have one.

🤣🤣🤣

Dil will be popping round later for a cuppa and I will show her all the replies, I think her GP needs to investigate this further and hopefully she can answer some of your questions.

Has she ever had a coil?
Test it with a magnet and see if it's metal.
If not, does it feel like plastic or a thread from suture?
Take it to her GP?

I’d be divorcing him if he sent her a photo of my vulva, which OP’s second post heavily implies.

You do know that the DiL knows all about this, yes? It's not behind her back

Blackberriesandcobwebs · 18/09/2024 13:49

I had knee surgery and had all the external sutures removed (or so I thought). 6 months later something rough snagged my tights and after a rummage with some sterilised tweezers pulled out a "lost" suture. One for "Sporners corner"!

WickWood · 18/09/2024 13:53

No clue, but she should see the doctor either way, for the shooting pains, surely!

Taishan · 18/09/2024 13:57

Its a piece of metal swarf from drilling.

Yes, and I still think it’s bizarre. I’m a doctor and I wouldn't agree to look at a family member’s vag - I’d tell them to see somebody who wasn’t related to them. I certainly wouldn’t want to be sent a photo.

Daisyblue77 · 18/09/2024 14:03

Its the bit from the end of the stitches .nothing to worry about

Lougle · 18/09/2024 14:11

Did she have an IUD fitted after her last C-Section @Wokeuptired?

Have no idea but really hope your DIL is ok

This
Is she still. In pain, @Wokeuptired?

NasiDagang · 18/09/2024 14:22

Phone the doctors and stop posting on bloody Mumsnet!! Some of the threads here are getting worse and worse 😡

Askingforafriendtoday · 18/09/2024 14:28

That's what I thought. Does he do a lot of DIY and does he always clean his hands thoroughly afterwards?

ThorndonCream · 18/09/2024 14:59

I once read about how, as the newspaper tactfully described it, a husband discovered there was a large curved surgical needle type thing in his wife's vagina after some months are childbirth. I'd be wanting to be scanned or x-rayed or whatever if I were your DIL to check if the rest of the "find" might be still rattling about.

Wokeuptired · 18/09/2024 15:03

It's not swarf as my son does not work with metal, and no she did not have a coil she was supposed to be sterilised during her last section but they didn't do it for some unknown reason.
Saschka it was a photo of a body part nothing sexual more medical you can compartmentalise the difference between them, like I said up thread I have seen many before and I even have one myself,
I'm sure dil will try and get a GP appointment but our surgery is a phone on the day type and the phone line opens at 8:30 and by 9am all appointments have gone and dil in normally on the bus during that time taking the grandchildren to school and you have to tell the receptionist a brief indication of the problem and I'm sure she would rather remain anonymous

I will ask her if she is still in pain when she gets here as she is just picking up the grandchildren first.

You might be close to your children and their partners but I think it is possible to be too close 🤣

Omg how do you know all of this?! I would die if my MIL was discussing my body like this on a random Internet forum! You're discussing your son's wife like she is a pet who just had the snip! Some things are just better left unsaid. 😂

I do draw the line at looking at their genitalia in person, but my husband has looked as our son when he had a problem and advised that he saw a doctor.

So it's okay to look at pictures, just not in person?!

Bleuuuughhh · 18/09/2024 15:14

I’m dieting for holiday. Was about to eat crisps before seeing this post.

Thanks for helping.
