The only operations my daughter in law has had are 4 c- sections the last was 20 months ago and since then she has had lower abdominal pain, yesterday she was getting shooting pains and my son pulled this from her, he says it's feels like plastic but could be metal. Does anyone have any idea on what it could be?

It would be most helpful if you can put it on a dark background and put a measure next to it so we can see the size.
It would help if you told us from whence it was pulled.
Then we might be able to help.
Could it be the remains of a belly-button piercing?

You don't think it being on a hand gives size context? It's about as long as the width of the wedding band, so I'd say up to about half a centimetre.

Forgot to say, I love that son pulls random object from his wife, takes a photo, shows his mum and she puts it on the internet. 😂

Do they know that you have posted?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🙌

Looks like the tip of a screw…. Ahhhh scary
but what do you mean pulled from her?

DysonSphere · 18/09/2024 09:27

LovingCritic · 18/09/2024 09:16

Could be a spiral surgical clip, they have a tendency to migrate over time, my dad had a hernia repair and one made its way into his intestine.

They use them for fixing surgical mesh, if she's had mesh, that's odds on what it is.

Finally a sensible reply!

OP your poor DIL! She should get a scan done there may be other bits floating around. But has she ever had an IUD fitted at all? Occasionally they can cause issues.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 18/09/2024 09:27

I take it this came out of the scar tissue?

As I'm sure you know, having four sections is really inadvisable and risks a range of health problems, including abdominal pain. HCPs are normally very, very clear that it is not wise to keep getting pregnant in this situation. I would guess your DIL's discomfort is caused by the surgery itself.

PinkyFlamingo · 18/09/2024 09:30

I dread to ask where he pulled it from!

As opposed to something foreign which the body is possibly struggling to reject?

I don't doubt what you say about post caesarian scarring causing chronic pain however.

DoraSpenlow · 18/09/2024 09:40

To me it looks like a piece of metal swarf. I find them everywhere after my husband has been making things for his motorbike on his lathe.

Purplecatshopaholic · 18/09/2024 09:40

If it came from scar tissue, could it be a bit of a stitch? Surgical thread?

MounjaroUser · 18/09/2024 09:42

What is it made of?

cloudydays2 · 18/09/2024 09:45

I think it is obvious that it was pulled from where her section scar is and that it is her son holding it not the op. I had surgical thread (not sure of medical term !) sticking out from my section scar for a while afterwards that was quite hard and similar in colour to what is in the pic, could possibly be something from the surgery I'd guess!

FictionalCharacter · 18/09/2024 09:46

It would be easier to identify the object if the photo wasn't blurred.

CrouchingTigerHiddenChocolate · 18/09/2024 09:02

I want to ask where he pulled it from, but I'm scared of the answer, so I'll just presume he pulled it from behind her ear like a magician.

I would suggest she gets herself to the doctors ASAP.

🤣🤣🤣🤭🤭🤭

PolePrince55 · 18/09/2024 09:49

A metal shaving??

DysonSphere · 18/09/2024 09:51

Thought it was crazy but comparing it really DOES look like that.

Has your DIL been on holiday? Or changing cat litter?

But has your husband ever pulled one out of you and sent a photo of it to his mum?

Sorry had to post and run as was late taking another son to college,

Soon pulled this I think from somewhere in her vulva even though he said vagina but the other photo (that I really didn't want to see) wasn't her vagina.
She has seen her GP a few times about this pain and been to the hospital and they couldn't find the reason for the pain, and daughter in law said I could post here as the aibu is should she take it to show the GP?

Sorry - I don't get it. Why are peop,e doing barfing emoticons, calling troll and acting like OP has posted pictures of vomit over her hand?

Thistooshallpass24 · 18/09/2024 10:03

Yes GP should probably be made aware, actually probably the surgeon who did it, they can contact the surgeon's secretary ( some will accept an email) and go from there

The only screw like thing that might get snagged in a vagina that I can think of is a fetal scalp electrode but they don’t look like this
