Baby with a LOW temperature post vaccination..????

Any one had experience of this...?
My little boy 13 mths has been really poorrly since friday following vaccinations on thursday ( hib and ...?)

He started with whinging and loss of appetite followed by vomitting for a day and now terrible diarroeah and a low temp 34.5 and BLUE lips!

he appears very poorly - sleeps till 1pm every day and then dozy two hours later - but the cold ams and legs and blue lips do concern me...

any docs or nurses??

any similar??

he drinks loads of water !! he seems hydrated although lips a bit dry looking

no! i rang and they said hmmm not normally a worry - see how he gets on so i did not want to bother them...

if you're worried get him checked out. I'd ring NHS direct tbh, that does seem quite low. What type of thermometer are you using, have you used it to take your temperature to calibrate?

i would go to a doctor on call centre if you have one, just turn up if doc won;t refer you, a poorly, cold baby with cold extremities, blue lips, no appetite,runs,and low temp needs checking out...end of !

My lo had this at about 15mths - picked him up from nursery and he had a low temp which persisted on and off for a couple of days. When i spoke to nhs direct they said to put extra layers on him, warm his room and give him warm fluids. If he's sleepy and his lips are going blue I really would ring your doctor - can you actually measure his temp, if so how many degrees below is it?

sorry just seen temp - i would defo at least ring nhs direct if not your emergency doc - he is young and that's what they are there for

in these circs, i think the temp is not that much of an issue , all the rest of the things are....and he is a baby, and a doctor cannot say, ok, he is fine, without looking.....

he is your baby and you are worried, doctor is there to treat the poorly

If you are measuring using a digital thermometer they don't always accurately reflect temps under 35.7 apparently (we are participating in a vaccine trial and they told us this). But it sounds to me like you should definitely seek medical help. Blue lips is not a good sign period. If could be just something really minor but don't take the chance - please - contact your out of hours service and tell them you need help - tonight.

Little girl I knew was like this and her mum took her to A&E turned out to be a severe water infection. I would definatly seek medical advice.

it is a braun digital....

i have held off because a freind whose daugher had same vaccination last week had EXACT same symptoms and self cured...

his skin is kind of mottled looking though.. i think i wil take him tomorrow but he is not dehydrated so not sure what they can do for him

IN CAPITALS BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS MESSAGE - ONE OF THE FIRST SIGNS OF MENIGITIS IS COLD FINGERS AND TOES AND MOTTLED SKIN. GET HELP NOW!

I'm sure it's not menigitis but I've had it and I would not want anyone else to go through this and not get diagnosed in time.

dont panic. take him to Dr or A&E. I went to A&E with my baby recently and they were brilliant. they said they would much rather see a slight ill baby and an anxious mother than a mother who disnt want to bother them and a very ill baby.

You wont be wasting their time. Take him to Dr or hospital now.

Let us know what happens.
