Hi GreenandBlackOtter. Hope your ds is getting better.

Just thought I'd let you know that my dd (12 mths) had similar symptoms albeit not quite as marked about a month ago. I took her to the GP 2 days in a row and he said to relax, it was just sth viral. When she turned blue, I took her to the A&E and they x-rayed her lungs and found that she had pneumonia and needed antibiotics to clear it away.

I think it would be wise to take your ds to the A&E - remember they have different equipment to test your ds than is available for your GP.

GreenAndBlackOtter - whether through medical intervention or natual recovery I hope that BabyOtter is improving and will be fit and well asap.

For what it's worth, my own reactions have been exactly in line with yours and with Gess's. I too, would have reacted as Gess has done to Serenity's very clear explanation. But I think you have been strong throughout this and I am thinking of you.

I've been thinking about your little one and I hope he is feeling better this morning.

rebelmum1 · 29/03/2007 13:45

Oh dear what a to do. How's it all now? No offence anyone but this is the last place I'd come for medical advice. I'm just straight down to A&E or my dd's chinese doctor

Twiglett · 29/03/2007 14:23

DD also had pneumonia .. only diagnosed on x-ray .. no other symptoms (at 18 months and 10 days after MMR) apart from high temp that wouldn't come down with calpol / nurofen for 3 days

I hope your little boy is ok Otter and that you're not too frazzled

rebelmum1 · 29/03/2007 14:30

people can be a little over zealous parenting is an emotive subject and we all think we're right

popsycal · 29/03/2007 17:27

hope your little one is ok

Hi Again

Hope you are doing well B&GOtter and your little one is feeling better and got over his illness himself. Just thought that I would add that although medically the symptoms you described had me screaming at my computer to go to A&E, a mother's instict is a powerful thing and no Doctor/nurse/friend etc etc can ever understand your child the way you do! I hope I didnt sound like I was coming on hard in my last post it was just your first post for advce listed symptoms that COULD be symptoms for many serious things.

Anyway I am thinking about you and hope you are all ok.

emkana · 29/03/2007 19:25

I hope so much that Otter will post good news soon.

dinny · 29/03/2007 20:38

so no news then...

surely she must have taken him by now....or he's better. hopefully the latter.

Hulababy · 29/03/2007 20:45

Hope your little one is feeling a bit better today

FoghornLeghorn · 30/03/2007 13:48

Otter - I've come on to this late so wont offer my opinion etc but can you please just let everyone know if your DS is OK. People here are genuinely worried

madoldcatlady · 30/03/2007 14:12

No news then? I'll keep checking. Otter, I hope things are ok.
