perhaps she is there now?

IntergalEGGticWalrus · 28/03/2007 21:50

I really hope so

popsycal · 28/03/2007 21:52

How about then that you just ring A&E - just to shut us all up?

KathH · 28/03/2007 21:52

please, please get your lo checked out by A&E. My ds2 had menigitis last year & it was the most truly awful time of my life. My GP once told me that she'd rather be bothered by someone getting in touch a 100 times and it turning out to be nothing rather than it be something & me not wanting to bother her and living with the what ifs?

berolina · 28/03/2007 22:01

Just read through this and I'm really worried now too.

take him to A&E

Gess · 28/03/2007 22:09

Having read serenity's message- I'd say take him. She;s reminded me of a paramedic I useds to know who always talked about compensation then crashing. And I think I tend to err on the side of staying home as well.

Hope you're ok xxx

Bambiraptor · 28/03/2007 22:16

If you are for real then you should take your baby to hospital. If something happens to your baby because you have refused to take him after the advice you have been given then you could (or should) be charged with criminal neglect.
FGS If your baby needs help you MUST help him.

fireflyfairy2 · 28/03/2007 22:20

Is G&Botter NOTanotter?

emkana · 28/03/2007 22:20

Oh dear after reading serenity's message I am even more worried than I was before.

Otter, please see that we are all just worried about you and your little man.

God I so hope that she still reads this.

Can somebody phone her?

zephyrcat · 28/03/2007 22:21

Someone must know her in RL or know a way to get hold of her?

I hope all is ok.

I'm hoping that Otter is in A&E now.

My DD2 had the EXACT same symptoms and my GP wanted to call an ambulance for her! I insisted I could drive faster(Super Mum)! They kept her in for 48 hours until they had eliminated meningitis amongst othet things.

drosophila · 28/03/2007 23:22

Why do you think it's a wind up?

pleasedome · 28/03/2007 23:23

No. Otter is a regular, sensible poster.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 28/03/2007 23:32

DD had vomiting and odd symptoms for days and DP insisted on calling in for help. I thought it was just another bout of toddler projectile vomiting. NHS recommended an ambulance straight away.

We got to A & E - they gave her nurofen and she looked like the most healthy child in there. Felt a fraud. Then, about 2 hours later, her skin started to go mottled and blue.

The instant the paediatrician saw this they were worried.

She had a very nasty chest infection and her system had started to shut down. It took over 2 hours for them to find a vein to get a IV in. She was same age as your LO otter.

She was kept in for 2 nights on IV antibiotics nad nebulisers etc.

Please go to a & e. xxx

DaisyMOO · 28/03/2007 23:41

GPs have been known to get things wrong. One was in the news not that long ago for missing a case of meningitis in a child.

alibobins · 29/03/2007 07:24

I hope you did go and get another opinion just to be on the safe side.

GP's can be wrong mine sent my ds 1.5 away saying it was just a virus ended up in a&e a few hours later ds admitted for severe chest infection

Trust your gut instinct if you thought he was ok you wouldn.t have posted on here.

drosophila · 29/03/2007 08:16

My DP's brother died from a simple sore throat and it was horendous. It took 4 days from going into A&E before he died.

People underestimate the power of a bacterial infection. The bacteria causing the sore throat (Strep?) got into a wound in his foot and started to eat away at his leg at an alarming rate. It is commonly know as the flesh eating bug but is your bog standard bacteria that somehow takes hold.

You cannot help people who don't want to be helped. Her baby could well pull out of this and she will feel that she was right but never know how serious it could have been.

emkana · 29/03/2007 08:20

This is the first thing I thought about this morning.

Really hope that Baby Otter is okay.

LilRedWG · 29/03/2007 08:22

How's Baby Otter today GreenandBlackOtter? And how are you?

IntergalEGGticWalrus · 29/03/2007 08:24

Me too emkana

If you are reading this, otter, let us know. Hope you are ok this morning too
