Hello there anxiety club ladies!
Have been trying new stuff to help with my anxiety.
It's a bit left-field but may be very helpful for anyone who wants to try.
Basically I have been working on my base chakra (I kid you not). This is the 'energy centre' that is basically located... erm, well, kind of between yer bits and yer bum!
But this energy centre is said to deal with feeling 'safe' in the world, trusting your environment (which obviously in panic attacks / anxiety, we lose this trust, feel that we are about to die, or that something terrible will happen etc) so I thought I would give this a go.
All I did was to buy 2 tumbelstones, one red jasper and one haematite, cost me about £1 each, and hold them, play with them and generally keep them near me. I also did a visualisation where you basically think about this base chakra, then think about roots growing from you into the earth (mother earth and all that) and the safe, solid feeling of the earth, etc, then bring your awareness back to the base chakra again.
I know that for some of you ladies this will be way too weird, that's fine, but for me it was great, I feel so much safer in the world, more confident - I do, literally, feel 'grounded' - which is what working on this chakra is meant to do. I am so chuffed that I'm going to work on the rest of the chakras and see where it takes me!
Some not-so-weird stuff that may help - gardening, walking in your garden, however small, feeling the solid, stable earth beneath your feet, feeling your connection to it etc, and apparently, wearing red knickers (red is the colour of the base chakra) and although I have quite an aversion to red, I have got dh to buy me two pairs of red knickers from ebay. Will let you know how it goes...
