ps choclab just seen your post re ads and I know exactly what you mean - I didnt take ads as I was so anxious about taking them iykwim. But I did promise my family that if things didn't get any better then I would give them a go. What does your DH think about you taking them? Could he support you in trying them?

blissa · 19/05/2010 21:27

I understand how you feel choclab, I worry about the side effects of most things. I think you need to just weigh up the possibility of experiencing side effects and the pros of taking them. I have no experience of ADs

I saw creme eggs in Boots for 39p today Piggy- that's extortion compared to yours! Dd1 loves Brownies, there is a camp in the summer for a week which she was adamant she wasn't going on, but she came back tonight saying she wants to go, just have to find the £120... Dd2 is starting after half term, she is soooo excited!

£120?! God that's extortionte!! I've helped out on one of those and it is really good fun actually - kids don't mess around in the woods half as much as they should, I think! I think you've spurred me on to look up my local group!

blissa · 19/05/2010 21:38

It is for a whole week... she went on a weekend trip in October and was fine, I think it was just the length of time and the fact that she has joined a new group, although she knows lots of them from school etc, putting her off. I think she would have a great time and we have encouraged her to go, although I know I will be anx before hand!

You're right kids don't get to mess around as much as we did any more, it's very sad, although it's hard to find the balance between giving them the freedom they want/need and keeping your sanity about making sure they are safe. I am getting better at it, but it's a tough one

Evening everyone. Choclab,I am delighted that you went to your GP and had a good chat with her and that she was understanding. What AD's have you been prescribed? As you may know I am on AD's since December and they have been a great help along with the counselling. The GP will have prescribed specific ones to deal with the anxiety, i.e. take the edge off how you are feeling. You are doing great even if you don't think you are, half the battle was going to your GP. . Making a cup of tea. Back in a minuite. x

PiggyMad · 20/05/2010 09:10

Morning choclab,
have you tried online cbt while you're waiting for an appt? there's a website called livinglifetothefull (think it's australian so you might have to google the name) and another one my doctor reccommended that I can't remember the name of at the minute... will have a think. Also a few people swear by moodgym to help you rethink the way you look at things too.

I'm off to pick up my new glasses in ten mins - quite excited and think they will stop me focussing on my eyes and vision so much.

Have to admit to admit to being a bit immature last night. Had just changed all of the bed covers and love a fresh smelling duvet, got in, watching Sex and the City dvd, in comes dp and spills a whole bloody mug of peppermint tea all over the bloody bed . Then proceeded to say that there was no point wiping it up as it would soak in!!! Grrr. So lost my temper a bit (blaming pmt for this too) and ran and tipped the remnants of his drink down the sink and hid the kettle so he couldn't make a new one . Hope the neighbours didn't hear our ridiculous bickering over the kettle hehe!

Hope everyone's well - I'm still wondering where this heat wave is!? xxx

kildare34 · 20/05/2010 15:33

Hello everyone, That was a long teabreak I had!!!! The weather is fab today, very warm. Piggymad - I pmsl at your post. Hilarious! Did he find the kettle? I love fresh clean sheets as well, don't blame you going mad

Choclab - I am on 10mg of lexapro(brand name in ireland)and I find them great. I think the way to look at AD's are that they are not going to make your problems magically disappear but they allow you to look at things in a more rational way, iyswim? Regarding side effects, all medicine has side effect even cough medicine! I personally didn't suffer any. Anybody who I know who took AD's and had side effects, they usually went away in a week or so i.e nausea. Also my GP said my AD's were not addictive. My DH was not keen on me taking AD's at the start but we had a good talk and he supported me in my decision, and that is really the important point, your choice/decision.

Right off to wash floors! xxx

mrsbuggywinkle · 21/05/2010 07:28

Choclab - I have taken citalopram before (am not medicated at the moment, but was for a long time) and it was great. I didn't have any side effects and it did help.

Piggy - I would have been more cross about the tea than the bed!

Not long woken up here...we've all been hot overnight but it's misty out! Feeling tired but ok thus far today have a very busy day ahead, mum and toddler group (which is lovely!) then we're going to the museum with friends. I will be fine, hopefully too busy to be anxious!

PiggyMad · 21/05/2010 08:37

Have fun mrsbuggywinkle! What sort of museum is it? I'm off to the university today but thankfully my lovely dp finishes work early on Fridays so is coming with me so I don't have to do motorway driving and is meeting up with some friends. I feel a bit like I've copped out by not driving myself, but I'm feeling so calm that I don't care! As long as I get there!
choclab I feel that you are leaving us a cryptic clue with your messages! Are you ok? How are you feeling about the ads now?
kildare I've been meaning to ask how your dad/fil is? (Sorry can't remember which it is). The weather has picked up here - yay! I receded and retrieved the kettle from the wardrobe for dp, but wouldn't let him bring his drink to bed (I sound like such a bitch!!)
HEllo blissa and yommy, hope you're both ok!xxx

blissa · 21/05/2010 10:45

Morning ladies

The heat wave is here Piggy!!

I find things so much easier when the sun is shining!

Piggy, I would have been peed off too, I'm bad enough when dp gets in our nice fresh bed without having a shower first! Clean bedding= shower + clean pjs . How are the new glasses?

How are you today choclab? Have you managed to talk with your dh? It is very hard, I think, for anyone to understand anxiety if they have not suffered from it themselves. My dp was not very supportive at all when mine first kicked in, but he is a bit better now. I remember saying to him that I didn't expect him to fix it or make it go away, just to listen to me. He could think I was talking a load of bollocks, just don't tell me I am.

Have a lovely day today mrsbuggywinkle, which museum are you off to?

How are you today kildare? I need to wash my floors this morning!

Hope you are ok Yommy

Right I'm off to a bit bit of housework, so I don't need to do anything tomorrow!

xx

am i getting this out of proportion ?

should i do it ?

had FBC in Feb all ok ,

no pains in tummy now but still bloating ...
mostly at end of day , bit flater in morning ?

does anyone els get this ?

kildare34 · 21/05/2010 20:51

Evening ladies, I am in great form, had a lovely day out with friends and ds1 and ds2. Weather is gorgous.

Choclab - I am going to be very blunt but in a sympathetic way There is almost certainly nothing physically wrong with you (I am no GP)You need to take the AD's that your GP has prescribed. Give them a try and see how they go. You have nothing to lose. You are not going to get addicted to them. Regarding the bloating it sounds very common to me, flat in morning, full at night. Do not feed the anxiety by going for tests that your doctor does not think you need to go on.

Piggymad - My dad is in great form, his blood pressure is basically fluctuating. However its all down to his medication, so its just about getting the right balance. Thanks for asking.

Mrsbuggywinkle - How did the museam go? Hope you had a nice time!

Blissa - Did you get all your housework done?

Right I've opened the wine, who is joining me?

choclab · 21/05/2010 21:03

PiggyMad · 21/05/2010 21:27

Hi kildare, glad you're dad is well. I've just set up my Sex and the City dvd (how sad am I on a Friday night!? Surely I should be making the most of my childfree status and going out myself, rather than watching 40-year wannabes on my screen doing it all!! But am shattered and just got home an hour ago so letting myself off the hook...) So I will join you in a glass of wine and also still have creme eggs to go round

Back from uni and all we really well - despite feeling slighlty wobbly in my meeting. But managed to catch up with a friend I haven't seen for months - she's going on a research trip to Russia from September so I need to make the most of seeing her for the next couple of months!

Hope you're enjoying the weather blissa and the walk to school went well this morning in the heat!

choclab I agree with kildare, I would maybe take the ADs for a couple of weeks adn then see how you feel regarding the tests. Tbh, I think they are aiming for 50+ year-old women and you are still quite young so are not in any of the danger ages for those sorts of illnesses (not a doctor either, however!) Also disappointed there is no secret code going on lol!

choclab · 22/05/2010 07:04

thank you ,

so you dont think i should go have more tests done ..

i had pelvic scan done 2 years ago was ok then and having similar things then , bloating etc ..
i have was diagnosed with IBS at same time having had tests to rule BC out ..

its te bloating im worried about , im a bit flatter in morning , but by evening im huge ...
i know bloating is also sign of IBS so i supose itis why , i just read some scary stuf in internet about OC being silent killer and bloating being a sign ... along with constant pelvic and tummy pains ( although i dont have that)

im almost 38 and had FBC done in feb along with many other tests liver , thyroid the lot all were fine so , i also hope if anything was bad would flag up something in the tests wouldnt it ?

sorry for big rant again just want you to have all the facts ...

thank you for listening again ... will look into CBT this morning on line .

xx

PiggyMad · 23/05/2010 08:05

Hi choclab,
how did you get on yesterday? did you manage to find anything online? I really do think you can just try to put the test thing to the back of your mind - you know yourself that you are fine after the different tests you had in Feb and the scan last year. Do you think you might take the ADs? Or have you got a counsellor/cbt sessions?

I know how hard it is to get something out of your head when you are convinced of it, but is there anything else you can focus on - a project with your dcs or something? I find keeping busy gives me the space to not think about things. I've bought a fancy plain notebook and I'm printing out a selection of pics I've got on the computer and making a scrap book thing.

Another gorgeous day here - there's Chinese boat racing at the local park so we're off to watch that this morning. I must admit I was a bit hot and chewed by yesterday afternoon - I hate too much heat and sun - very pale and northern!!

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the un-british-like weather!xx

blissa · 24/05/2010 13:54

Hi ladies

It's sooooo hot!!!

Mustn't complain.

Had a lovely weekend here, the dcs were out in the paddling pool for most of it. It was my birthday on saturday so we all went out for a meal which was nice, I also got a bit tipsy

How are you feeling today choclab? Have you found anything out about CBT yet? Both kildare and Piggy have given you excellent advice over the weekend, I can only echo what they have said and say I really think the bloating will be due to the IBS. Do you take anything for it?

Please step away from Google, I know it is hard, I have done it myself, but it really doesn't help. The symptoms you google will come up in a lot of searches it doesn't mean that you have anything sinister. Look at the facts- you have a diagnosis of IBS, you had a scan which ruled out BC, you had a FBC a few months ago that was all fine. Have you thought any more about the ADs?

I'm glad your dad is ok kildare. Hope you enjoyed your wine on Friday evening!

How was the boat racing Piggy? Sounds like fun. Well done getting through your meeting at uni.

Hi to Yommy and mrsbuggywinkle
