Here's a new thread for us.

OP posts:
AfternoonDelight · 05/06/2012 22:27

Evening all Brew

Had a lovely day today meeting a friend before we leave for The Big Move. It was wonderful to catch up and have some DC-free time being a grown up. Came home to find that DP had pretty much finished the packing, I helped a little, and now I'm absolutely exhausted.

The people that live above us are having a party (we move in 2 days, couldn't they have waited?!) so I get to enjoy the sound of teenagers discussing whether or not some guy likes them as I fall asleep Hmm

Got to be up early to get a doctor's appointment for tomorrow. Hoping everyone has had a nice day (despite the weather)

One more Brew for good luck

Nilgiri · 05/06/2012 23:52

So glad you had a good day, AfternoonD shame about the party! And good luck for the doctor's appt tomorrow.

Nilgiri · 05/06/2012 23:53

Actually, off to bed here, hope everyone gets a good night's sleep and wakes refreshed tomorrow.

futuredream · 06/06/2012 00:16

Peaceful night to all < fairies wash up and plump cushions >

Showtime · 06/06/2012 09:41

Morning all! A damp and grey morning here, but glad to have renewed spoon supply and hope others have enough energy to cope with today..
Apologies for delay replying Nilgiri. Decided to make (anaemic) DB, recovering from major depression, some liver pate as a change from his usual plain, good-for-you-liver, which just might encourage him to spend time cooking, but I over-estimated my energy levels and flopped.

I missed the Venus transit too, so hope to find video somewhere this morning. Did anyone actually see it, I wonder?

Nilgiri · 06/06/2012 11:05

Mmm, espresso! Thank you, Showtime!

Liver pate, wow. Serious respect. That's one of those "I've started so I'll finish" jobs, isn't it? Hope you've recovered somewhat today.

I thought of you when the transit of Venus was mentioned - then realised how poor the UK's view was going to be. Dense grey skies here, too, so no glimpse even of the sun, never mind a tiny dot moving across it.

I feel I should show a bit more interest though, as I've spent put more effort into studying the expeditions to observe the C18th transits, than I have finding out about the one happening in my own lifetime.Blush Did you know that this was the reason for Captain Cook's voyage in Endeavour?

Showtime · 06/06/2012 11:19

Thanks for the links to transit, Nilgiri, and I remembered Capt. Cook as soon as you mentioned him, but can't recall details of book (?novel) of same name.
Feel better knowing view would not have been available even if I had remembered, so thankyou.
Yes, used to make own pates when catering of course, but had forgotten procedures involved, now a veggie.
Hope you're not over-doing things these days, also hope we can soon hear that upward's doing ok and is now well-recovered from operation, etc.

futuredream · 06/06/2012 12:55

< creeps briefly only from cosy nestbox , as instructed ,to peer at
skies in great wonder >

Afternoon, lovely people, and I think I too will have an espresso, thank you Showtime-You must indeed have been exhausted, & really hope spoons
will last a fair part of today

Wheeeeeeeee , your links are terrifyingly asbsorbing , Nilgiri . There's so much I want to read up on now < does dance of glee with HF > I can't do
jutice to how inspiring the voyages are , and amazing in situations of claustrophobia , & as mental gymnastics for those of us who who have been lazy at sciences & are thrilled by all the books aimed at helping us amazing aspects of the world .. . did you take to these subjects from a very early age , Nilgiri ? You too seem adept at science/maths/tecchieness, Showtime, and Upward.
( I have seen programmes on the voyage of the Endeavour , N , but never read up on it)

You are an angel Showtime to embark upon that pate for DB, especially when now veggie - hope not too unpleasant an ordeal .
Poor DB with anaemia - has he felt OK on the prescribed supplements ? Hope his blood tests soon show an improvement .

This week features grumpy workmen / medical appts / evil forms & preparation for more appts next week , all familiar to cybbergardeners , so back to mossy nest I gratefully go . Also hoping you are getting time for frun between sensible tasks , Nilgiri < and same about Upward , if indeed she is up to tasks - burt we do not want to make you worry about us worrying about you , Grin & we're wishing you as peace a time as possible.

Just want to share that I found another Important Item in Safe Place, wandd one I didn't realise I even had , which help with appts

< HF brings beloved cybergardeners a huge red poppy each >

Showtime · 06/06/2012 16:32

Thanks to HF for red poppy - only got the little Californian ones (elf-seeded) at present. I went to add the necessary "s", then thought I preferred to leave it, as elf-seeded seems suitable for cybergarden.
Today's a bit easier, thanks futuredream, apart from a District Nurse appearing to take blood this morning - complete surprise as had two bloods done recently and no mention from GP- but surgery were sure when she phoned to check so hope it's useful.
Also hope you're enjoying some time in mossy nest after being so busy, both on thread and in RL, and that upward is not feeling too short of spoons to post.
Pats on back to Nilgiri, who managed to do so much while still physically fragile, and thanks too.

Nilgiri · 06/06/2012 18:13

GrinGrin at elf-seeded poppies! Perfect!

Hope the sudden appearance of the District Nurse wasn't too disconcerting, Showtime and you were dressed.

Another Battle of the Object medal to Future for finding the Important Item, and just at the right time, too.

futuredream · 06/06/2012 18:46

< cyberfairies flutter, admiring the poppies Showtime discovered their kinsfolk sowed >

< future peeks through wisps of moss >

Blush thank you so much for my medal , Nilgiri...other good news is I have had very nice replies re: eveil appt I had hysterics over at the beginning of last week , though am booked to return there next week .Thank you so much ,Showtime- I mainly seem busy because I complain about it so much . Hope your tasks have been uninterrupted today .

Yes indeed , well done Showtime for being so well appointed Grin< says she who was in hiding as workmen reached road nearly outside > I think it's easy to misunderstand if X or Y blood tests need doing gain as a one off, or regularly - hope results good .

Hope you're having a good day , Nilgiri < HF demands companions for frolicking >
Brews to you Upward , hope you can hear the cyberbirdsong

Oh yes, Springwatch on later , idf anyone likes it . Did any of you see that programme last night about the transit ?

futuredream · 06/06/2012 18:49

< creeps back in to apologise for a) should be "had sown" or similar,
and b) I promise I will hibernate enthusiasticlly soon ... am just waking fretfully atm ! >

< cyberwren is spotted and not by felines>

Upwardandonward · 06/06/2012 18:57

Sorry all, very short of spoons and struggling still, half term means no cmht person so I'm trying to keep it together til they are back.

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 06/06/2012 18:58

Forgot, Brew

OP posts:
Spongeroberta · 06/06/2012 20:20

Good Evening everyone - hope there is much happiness and calm in the garden.

Unfortunately, I have had a horrible day as my son's Dad has had a go at me ado have been contacting him excessively, apologising for things that happened a long time ago and he has thoroughly had enough now. It's like I can't feel happy unless he is okay with me Blush which makes me sound pathetic and sad Sad

I need some escapism, I have my son tonight and tomorrow night and will find it very difficult to cope with my urges.

I don't wish to bring sadness upon the garden, I am sorrySad

Peace to you all, this is a wonderful place xx

Nilgiri · 06/06/2012 20:39

So very glad to see you, Upward - and thank you for the Brew! Sorry you're so very short of spoons at the moment.

That's rotten that you're still struggling: how very annoying that CMHT take half-terms off, like a school. What the heck?

Sending you strengthening vibes, and warm thoughts and love.

Thanks
Upwardandonward · 06/06/2012 20:42

Thanks nilgiri, that helps, same to you back. I suppose if I were desperate I could contact someone, it's only my specific cmht person I'm talking about having half term off.

It's good that the cybergarden is here

OP posts:
Nilgiri · 06/06/2012 20:46

Spongeroberta sorry you've been having a hard day.

That's great that your son will be with you for a couple of days. What do you think you might do together? Do you have a favourite slumpy film you can curl up and watch together, or are you maybe up for a bit of time outside if the wretched weather holds up? Or some baking, if you're not too drained?

Nilgiri · 06/06/2012 20:50

I suppose that does mean your specific CMHT person is managing to be a bit helpful, Upward. But so sorry you're needing so much help at the moment.Sad

Btw, was there much jubilating in your neck of the woods, or all subsumed by the exam season followed by mad drunken carousing anyway? My street's had bunting and union flags (no thanks to me, I have to admit).

AfternoonDelight · 06/06/2012 21:39

Evening everyone

So, so good to hear from you Upward. I'm sorry that your CMHT is off this week, please please make use of the cybergarden - we are here if you need to let off steam.

Showtime I am loving the elf seeded poppies! Have a wonderful image of elves dancing around the garden (does anyone know the difference between elves and pixies?) Am also hoping you get good results from your blood tests, and that the District Nurse didn't take several attempts to actually extract it

Loving seeing you posting so positively Nilgiri I didn't put any bunting up either Wink Had no idea about Captain Cook, pity I find this out the day before we lose the internet! Sounds like the kind of thing I could while away serious hours reading about!

Sorry you have to return to the Evil Place of Appointments futuredream, just remember, it will be worth it. You can do it. You are a strong, confident woman and they cannot intimidate you. Remember to challenge anything you are not happy with. It's your future, not theirs, you call the shots!

Sorry to hear you're struggling, Spongeroberta. I think Nilgiri was spot on with her advice about doing some activities with your son. You could always spread out a mat and do some messy painting play!

As for me, I'll be signing off for a while as tomorrow is The Big Move and we'll have no internet for a bit. Thank you all so much for your continued support and guidance, and for letting me in the garden, and I'll see you all soon xx

Brew
Spongeroberta · 06/06/2012 22:00

Upward, it's hard over bank holidays etc as everything is on minimum support levels.....and ironically, that's when you need it most! Sending you virtual hugs and comfort.

I am taking great comfort from my son (have him until Fri evening) and he truly is wonderful. Dreading how I deal with his Dad now, although leaving him alone seems to be the best answer.

I am feeling like shouting and screaming, so I'll now indulge in some distraction and imagine a slow-rippling river, I'm just in the shade under the tree watching kids having fun and feeling happy.....at least in my visualisation results.

Love this placeSmile

Nilgiri · 06/06/2012 22:18

We're about to need a new thread: Cybergarden Open Day

Nilgiri · 06/06/2012 22:24

AfternoonD loads of good luck with The Big Move.

I'm sure there'll be a lot of exhaustion and frustration - standard issue with house moves even when you're in tip top health. But this too shall pass. Very best wishes.

Sponge that sounds gorgeous!

Spongeroberta · 06/06/2012 22:49
