Cybergarden Open Day

Hi all.

We realised there were people on the MH threads asking what on earth the cybergarden was, and could they "join".

The short answer is, Yes, come in and have a Brew!

The cybergarden was started as a support thread for one person, and a bit of an escape from grim reality for those of us housebound one way or another. We just wanted somewhere peaceful and pleasant to relax and enjoy things we couldn't always do in real life.

It's generally a pretty positive place, although everyone needs a moan now and then. And we do lots of small, personal visualisations when the spirit moves us. It can get a bit whimsical, so if imaginary stuff makes your teeth itch we're probably not for you!

But if a large garden with companion animals and a sandpit for the children suits your needs, do come in and have a cuppa. The kettle's almost always on.

Shock Run away , o misguided human ? < withering feline expression >

< future puts out soft rugs for madmouse family , scoffs delicious brownies and hopes yong hound snores less loudly than beagle > .

Thank you so much Nilgirifor magnicent explanation of this unique place , where the uniquely genuine visitors & decisive rhythms of the garden have lifted us from claustrophobia and isolation , and allowed much silliness

Back in a bit - goodnight Spongeroberta , good to have you enoying the calm here . Good luck with big week , AfternoonD and many thanks for support with appts

Very , very glad to see you , Upward, and hope another staff member can help somewhat . So happy you are still glad of the cybergarden < ditto>

Showtime · 06/06/2012 23:23

Just managed long post for everyone, but being number 1001 it was rejected...Too tired for any more, so goodnight.

Chocattack · 06/06/2012 23:24

< tentatively waves hello to all in response to invite (nice touch Nilgiri) >

I'm not very good with crowded places so I may be a bit quiet (besides I can be a bit moany!). Will probably lurk mainly to keep an eye on future Wink hope that's ok. Amazing that your garden is so mature Smile

bananacrepe · 06/06/2012 23:26

I quite fancy a nice calm place... Would make a change from life... I can't promise to keep up with everything as I'm a bit rubbish like that but I will support if I feel anything I can say will be at all useful, and will also appreciate a bit of calm... Stuff I've posted over the past few days will explain my backstory if anyone wants to 'vet' me! Smile

Showtime · 07/06/2012 01:59

Welcome back upward, good tosee you, and sorry last (long) post was cancelled, being number 1001 when completed.
Just too tired to post again, so am following futuredream to nestbox, followed by beagle. 'Night.

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 07/06/2012 11:30

Rabbits get tucked away in their own hutches at night, every one has a buddy to huggle with, and they have a massive run to play in during the day with unlimited dandelions. Next to that is the guinea pig run of course. I can rescue every unwanted pet and give them a lovely happy life, either here with me or with their forever homes with someone who will care for them the way I do.

And don't worry futuredream most of the rabbits I know can hold their own with cats, and they'll be protected anyway, mostly from foxes who are the worst culprits.

futuredream · 07/06/2012 12:05

Blush , cosy hutches at night , sorry . < very excited at thought of animal shelter corner here- lots of room , with an orchard area , and a wooded lade at back , with a little stream
So I think you manage to keep and also rehome rescue

animals in RL ?We've always awrded each other medals here < and you get very high rank from

f unlimited dandelions ,

< ndt pads over to greet rabbits and gunea pigs >

< hops up for human fuss as just had visit to vetfor skin problems .
All animals here on-allergenic, and stream (plus tiny pond filled with froglets ) are safe for dc

futuredream · 07/06/2012 12:17

< ahem, apologies ... sorry , minor coordination issues , accidentally pressed send... shoud have been "nomination for very high rank from me ( very non-military medals . of course )
and "overjoyed to hear of unlimited supply of dandelions" ." I look at the small pet threads ( hutch , future - run indeed) , but find it all much more complicated than had expected, & get teary over the guinea pig care .

Sorry to have been talking so much - bananacrepe , sorry RL is etremely stressful atm , and hope you enjoy the garden . Please don't worry about postingjust what might be useful ,and you sound incredibly thoughtful , which is much appreciated . Probably you should be relaxing for once , not thinking of others' needs -Brews to all , with reminder to be easy on ourselves

NanaNina · 07/06/2012 13:12

The cybergarden wasn't for me but I did pop in now and again and remember the person who it was set up for and I was amazed at how a group of women supported this other women and each other. However apart from madmouse, I don't recognise any of the original posters now on this thread. Can remember a few, shodatin cityhobgoblin onwardandupward kizzie and at least another 3 or 4 I can't remember. I am just wondering whether these women are still involved or has there been a "takeover" (joke) by other posters. Just curious really.

madmouse · 07/06/2012 13:25

There have been a few name changes NanaNina

NanaNina · 07/06/2012 13:34

Ah I see.

futuredream · 07/06/2012 13:56

GrinThere's been no coup , NanaNina -great to see you , and sincerely sorry for not PMing when saw your kind words bout cybergarden -I can't keep up . We tried hard to drag you into the cybergarden , and enjoyed the sense of your good wishes . I often see your hard work on other threads , and hope you are feeling reasonably well atm , & will enjoy relaxing here

Sorry for dropping in so much , plus I always manage to sound patronising . Just want to check we're all finding favourite corners in summerhouse , considering whether there are any plants we could still get into the spare flowerbeds and spare part of the veg plot -anyone have any favourites we could try?

Right , back to nestbox as have big medical appt this eve, and Dh having to negotiate main aspects of his work today , so can I please ask for cybergarden goaty toes ? ie fingers crossed - many thanks , & crossed toofor all other nervewracking situations involving cybergardeners < hopes silly , comforting rituals won't scare off lovely posters >

Hope you're resting here with us Spongeroberta , in between being very busy with your ds < puts out tin of healthy snacks and asks to help feed bunnies & guinea pigs >

< returns to assure new posters am under strict cyberorders to start a big summer hibernation , so you will all finally be able to get a word in edgeways >Brew

futuredream · 07/06/2012 14:03

PS , so sorry for stupidGrin there, NN -didn't see your reply . I feel awful at not hving PMed own namechange - is on same list as belated replies to relatives , the birthday pressie I need to find for today but won't... you have long been considered the honorary cybergardener but we all have a lot of physical limitations and for me at least , messages that are important to us , remain unsent < proves cyberfriends' point in sending me back to dormouse rather than chatter >

Hope we all have a peaceful afternoon punctuated by rests in our rainfree cybergarden

NanaNina · 07/06/2012 15:43

WOW mega impressed at my status of honorary cybergardener (not that I deserve it) Was there a reason why the regulars namechanged. I think I know who "used to be"..........curiouser and curiouser......x

kizzie · 07/06/2012 15:57

and here are some flowers for everyone Thanks Smile

If anyone gets a sec could you PM me the name changes please. Thank you ! x

Showtime · 07/06/2012 16:10

Am so pleased we have bunnies in the garden, as we had a house-rabbit (trained to newspaper) at parents' house, who was a lovely pet and on good terms with pet dog.
Had exhausting day with visitor, so plan to flop in the mossy nest originally planned for futuredream - plenty of room for two, even space at foot for slim beagle, and all will be well until one of us starts to snore.

Upwardandonward · 07/06/2012 17:02

I namechanged, can't remember my previous name now though.

NanaNina · 07/06/2012 17:06

I was going to ask that KIzzie (Hello - hope you're ok btw - me still up and down, more up than down about 80/20 but never know when the bad days are coming.....aaargh/1) but didn't know if I should as I wasn't really a partof the group.
