What exercise 'achievement' perked you up recently?

Mine was on Saturday when I went out for a road cycle - hadn't realised it was quite so windy and it was against me for the first 15 miles or so - had been up several decent hills and was about 5 miles from home going along a flat, straight road which is fairly exposed. Reader, it may have been slightly wind assisted but my speedometer reached 30.3mph!!!!! On the flat!!! For a couple of hundred yards!!.
Managed to sustain at over 29mph for several hundred yards! I was SO pleased with myself.

Anyone else got an exercise achievement they want to brag about? Grin

That's very fast! Well done!

I played netball last week and my opposite number was 17 and in DS's French class. Beat them by 4 goals in a very close match. Still got it! Grin

massistar yay !!! I never 'got' netball as was more of a hockey type girl (enjoyed getting muddy Grin) but was in awe when I watched a proper adult game once! Its really fast paced and ferocious! Well done you (and your team!) 😀😀

I finally went for a run with a friend on the flat and ran a lot lot quicker compared to my hilly, muddy trails … who’d have thought!

I have only been getting into regular exercise for the last 6 months so I have been getting lots of little moments where I realise I am doing things I never used to be able to do. Couple of my favourites were when I did a 50 second plank (when I started 3 months before my maximum was 7 seconds 😬), and also when I saw my first bit of muscle definition on my biceps. Even when I was at my thinnest I never had a toned body, just skinny. I love the tone that is beginning to form now

FourEyesGood · 31/01/2022 17:32

Well done!

I ran my fastest 5k ever this morning. I’m still not under 30 minutes yet (it was 30:47) but I’m getting there! I’d like to achieve a sub-30 minute 5k by the end of April. This didn’t seem at all likely or even possible a few years ago. I hardly recognise myself - mentally or physically!

I think we should all be justifiably standing a little bit taller after all these achievements! 👍🏻👍🏻😁

I overtook two horse riders while running on Sunday! 10 miles in. I was Grin

It was also a learning experience in how slow a horse walks. But still Grin

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 01/02/2022 18:12

I went to jump without a panty liner and didnt need to pee during class.

actiongirl1978 · 01/02/2022 18:33

@StrictlyAFemaleFemale that's the best one on here! I have had to instruct my male PT that I cannot do jumping exercises unless he wants a little bit of wee to come out too. He was very cool about the whole thing Grin

I did a new yoga class today which was led by a very serious and obviously very experienced instructor. At the end she came over and told me I was a ‘true yogi’. I was chuffed even though I’m not really sure what she meant 😅

Swam 66 lengths today. My longest swim yet. I started in Oct 20 when the pools reopened and have taught myself front crawl from youtube. Still in the middle lane but might be able to move over to the fast one soon!

Stellaris22 · 01/02/2022 19:04

I beat my previous hip thrust PB this morning with 130kg and managed 4 sets of 39kg reps on Lat pull down machine. Also upped my chest weights in Pump class and managed the whole routine.

BiddyPop · 01/02/2022 19:13

After not swimming much (at all) this past year, I have been going 1-2 per week the past 3 weeks, and have got myself back into the fast lane rather than the casual lane. It will slowly get better again (I want to do more continuous lengths rather than aiming for speed, but best chance of that is in the fast lane).

EssexLioness · 01/02/2022 22:18

Love reading these updates… well done everyone!

Arucanafeather · 01/02/2022 22:22

Got a parkrun pb last Saturday. Still quite slow but first 5k under 35 mins. Feels such an achievement after getting back to running after a couple of years of ill health.

PiesNotGuys · 01/02/2022 22:24

Awesome acheivements!

I hiked 30 miles in one day

Previous best was 27 but I got lost Grin

That's amazing @Goinghome20 ! I'd love to be able to do front crawl.

What a nice idea for a thread! I was very pleased to manage a (just) sub 48 minute 10k in my first proper 10k race last month.

@LtGreggs there are genuinely human vs horse races, you could give one a try! Obviously horses can go faster at the start but humans are better on rough terrain and have better endurance (because we sweat more so we don't overheat) so sometimes the humans do win.

KohlaParasaurus · 02/02/2022 08:20

Hiking to my first summit of the year. There will be other bigger ones and long peak-bagging days out, but getting my winter day pack loaded for the first time in a new year always feels like some sort of a breakthrough.

Baggiepussy · 02/02/2022 08:34

Managed a few full press ups!!Grin

VeronicaBeccabunga · 02/02/2022 08:34

Finally booked a gym session with a specialist trainer and have been working on a new weights/resistance routine.

Got my husband to measure my height, I'm an old lady now but I'm still the same height I was as a young adult: thanks Pilates classes!

HangingOver · 02/02/2022 08:35

Yes! I aimed for 20 exercise sessions (of at least 1 hour) in January and I hit 26!

Natsku · 02/02/2022 09:09

I only started exercising when I got ringfit for Christmas, and had to take a few weeks off in January when I injured my ankle, but I've gotten back into it again now and just overtook my bloke's level on it so I am feeling great about that! Though what's perked me up even more than that, is realising I'm enjoying it and looking forward to my exercise sessions, I even bought exercise leggings and a top - I've never owned exercise clothes in my life before.

UnadulteratedCat · 02/02/2022 09:12

I touched my toes without bending my knees for the first time in my life. I’m so proud of myself. Pilates is awesome.

rubyslippers · 02/02/2022 09:15

Done several sets of burpees
Nearly killed me but managed it 😂
