Mine was on Saturday when I went out for a road cycle - hadn't realised it was quite so windy and it was against me for the first 15 miles or so - had been up several decent hills and was about 5 miles from home going along a flat, straight road which is fairly exposed. Reader, it may have been slightly wind assisted but my speedometer reached 30.3mph!!!!! On the flat!!! For a couple of hundred yards!!.
Managed to sustain at over 29mph for several hundred yards! I was SO pleased with myself.

Anyone else got an exercise achievement they want to brag about? Grin

I thought I’d try to aim for a sub 30 min 5k run as a New Year’s resolution, although haven’t actually ever precisely tracked my speed.

Downloaded Strava - turns out I can already run it just under 30 mins on a good day, so now I need to set a new target! Grin

Haggisfish3 · 05/02/2022 22:34

Yay-well done!

blobby10 · 06/02/2022 10:11

I managed 3 sets of 8 reps of proper barbell squats today! never done them before as didn’t have the flexibility but today didn’t need a box or bench to sit on! Only added 10kg to the bar but it was still a milestone for me 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻

I got my deadlifts back up to 110kg, not lifted that much in over a year because of pregnancy/c-section, still 15kg to go to be up to pre-pregnancy strength (baby almost 6mth now). My squats are going to take much longer to get back up to pre-pregnancy level, need to lose some fat to take the daily pressure off my arthritic knees and then they'll cope better with squats. Other lifts are at or close to pre-pregnancy level now so overall I'm a happy bunny.

Zazdar · 07/02/2022 10:52

I got my deadlifts back up to 110kg

Not pregnancy related but I lost my fitness mojo for a while and I actually managed to get back to 110 too at the weekend which is a milestone for me as it’s more than double my body weight.

Then my trainer pushed me to 115. My pre mojo loss PB is 120, so I’m on track to get back there

LaChanticleer · 07/02/2022 11:07

Wow! 110 is heavy.

I pushed 300kg on the sled the other day, which is a PB for pushing - I’ve dragged around 340 using a harness, but COVID means the gym doesn’t allow the harness to be used any more.

My calves are now telling me I worked bloody hard!

blobby10 · 07/02/2022 18:12

Anyone doing any weight on a deadlift is awesome! Deadlifts are something I struggle with so use the trap bar but only adding about 30 kgs so far 👍🏻👍🏻You guys are all inspiring me so much!! 🥰

I love deadlifts.

xsquared · 08/02/2022 20:17

Beating my 5k and 10k PB on my tempo run at 6:30 this morning.

Happyinheels · 08/02/2022 22:48

I'm so inspired by this thread! As I said, I joined a gym for the first time in my life - I'm 46 🤣 I booked onto a kickboxercise class last night. I nearly chickened out at the last minute but made myself go. And it was fab! It turned out to be all women and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I can't lift today mind!

Love the post about the tripod headstand! I'm right at the start of learning how to do a normal headstand in yoga so I'm totally impressed at the tripod!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 09/02/2022 10:47

I've just run a mile. In 14mins, so not exactly Roger Bannister. But I got the guts to go and try.

waterlego · 09/02/2022 10:50

I love this thread. So many fantastic achievements. Well done to all of you! 🏆

I recently discovered I can still do a full bridge. I haven’t tried since I was a child but there is one in the current Bodybalance release, and as I teach the programme, thought I’d best have a go at it! It is optional and most participants in my classes don’t do it, but a few have a go. Was pleasantly surprised to find I could do it.

It's taken me over three years of yoga to get to a 'nearly' tripod headstand. Given that as a keen gymnast when I was a pre-teen I never managed a headstand, I'm all the more chuffed that 35 years later I'm nearly there. And I will straighten those legs this year. Smile
Lady0racle · 13/02/2022 07:20

I did my PB at Parkrun yesterday! I did 31:05. I’d love to run a sub 30 this year - that’s my goal for 2022.

xsquared · 13/02/2022 20:35

Beat my 10K PB today after beating the previous one on Tuesday. I am following the Garmin coach plan for a faster HM time of 1:46 and will be starting week 14 of 16 tomorrow.

Greenandcabbagelooking · 13/02/2022 20:42

I walked a mile without needing to sit down. Covid recovery has been slow. I could happily walk 10 miles before.

Chely · 14/02/2022 09:32

@greenandcabbagelooking I feel for you, you'll get it back up in time.

I had covid in December, I've noticed I have more discomfort around my rib cage after lifting sessions. I'm hoping with powering through it'll stop happening eventually.

elizabethdraper · 14/02/2022 09:38

Dead lifting 32kg last week and
Squating with 15kg

Bettybantz · 14/02/2022 09:47

I love deadlifts too. Not as heavy as some of you but recently done a PB of 80kg.

Also chuffed that I’ve been in the gym at 6am before work every day for the last month.

Chrispackhamspoodle · 14/02/2022 10:17

I ran 10km at thee weekend in just over an hour I haven't ran in a year -or ran a 10km in about 3 years.

LimeSegment · 14/02/2022 10:30

Mine is finally doing a 20 inch box jump. I've been working on it for a year Blush.

Cheeseandlobster · 14/02/2022 13:32

Fantastic thread. I loved reading each and every post

My achievement is that I joined a gym in Feb 2020 but then covid hit so I started doing online hiit sessions. I have been doing them since then on my own and never went back to the gym. I have built up recently to 25 minutes hiit or tabata, 5 mins pilates and 5 minutes weights daily with 1 rest day a week. I have also been trying to incorporate a daily walk too but the weather is shocking today so I won't be doing that

Stellaris22 · 14/02/2022 15:03

It's my last week of my current program with my PT (it changes every 3 months), so I'm pushing myself.

Today I did a 59kg cable row and superset of 9kg reps of bicep/hammer curl.

blobby10 · 15/02/2022 09:54

Wow! There is such a wonderful spread of personal achievements on here! Well done to each and every one of us!

My own personal achievement this morning was 4 x 8 reps of proper squats - no boxes or benches to sit on half way down! And I put weight on the bar too this week - an additional 15kgs. I've wanted to do proper squats for ages but have stuck to box squats - so chuffed with myself Grin

I'm reasonably fit and at 49 years old managed a life time 5k parkrun personal best, just dipping under 24mins a couple of weeks ago.
But I have for years ignored any upper body or glute strength training as I find it really really boring. But my achievement today is that I've bought a couple of weights and actually used them today! Still boring!
Trying to focus on stronger muscles = faster 5k.
Aiming for 23mins 30secs by the time I'm 50.
