New thread needed! All runners welcome, whatever your pace or distance.
Cold icy run for me this morning, couple of exciting sliding episodes! Not a fan of the ice...

9 miles (14.5km) this lunchtime, my longest run ever. 🙌🏻

Lower back started to really ache at about 11km, have done loads of stretching.

That’s fantastic, @Iamblossom!

Iamblossom · 23/03/2021 14:09

Thanks @Spudlet not really sure where that came from to be honest. The road forks at about 6km and I normally turn left but the right turn was a long flat/slightly downhill straight that looked really inviting so off I went!

Iamblossom · 23/03/2021 14:31

I am good for exactly nothing now however Hmm

Doublethecuddles · 23/03/2021 18:53

Well done lamblossom
Spudlet if we are every back to normal a good running shop should be able to analyse your gait to see of its grumbly foot or running style. I always leave my trainers outside when I can, as they can get very stinky!

Managed to run 10km under 1 hour today, which is a first time for me. I could tell I was close to doing to so really pushed myself. Will need to start trying to improve 5km time, I think I am better at longer distance.
Went out for 2 runs with teenage daughter, prior to lockdown she was a good runner, but she has gone to pot. Determined to get her out 3 times a week.

@spudlet definitely get a gait analysis to see what type of trainers you need.

Intervals today

Great stuff @Doublethecuddles and @lamblossom!

Nice easy run for me today. Beautiful sunshine and saw lots of deer so was very slow as kept stopping to take photos Smile

I have a voucher for a full on video gait analysis thingy when the lady reopens - a 45 minute one where she films me on a treadmill and analyses it all and gives me an assessment of my form. So that might be useful.

I did have a gait analysis at a running shop when I got these trainers (well, the pair before them but these ones are the exact same model), so hopefully they’re aren’t too bad. But when they’re done I’m going back for another one as I think I might need a more cushioned pair for the summer - the ground gets baked so hard around here I do wonder if I need road trainers for summer trails! Can’t afford it at the moment though, unfortunately.

emummy · 24/03/2021 08:54

I had a proper running assessment once, it was great, so enjoyable to geek out on running for an hour!
Congrats @Iamblossom on your longest run and @Doublethecuddles on your speedy one!

2 runs today. A lovely 41/2 miles this morning and a horrible 5 miles in rain, wind and cold while son was at football training. Trying to get ahead with distance as I had my second Covid jab today and felt awful for 24 hours after first.

Hope you’re not feeling too bad today @Doublethecuddles.

Ran to hounds (Grin) this morning so 3 miles to add.

Double day @Doublethecuddles - that’s hardcore. I also misread it and thought the first one was 41.5 miles! Smile

Intervals yesterday and then a slow run today. Was supposed to be a ‘recovery run’ but I was still pretty tired after intervals so couldn’t keep my hr down. Rest day tomorrow before loads more miles at the weekend. My plan is knackering me at the moment!

5k for me yesterday with no whinging from The Grumbly Foot! 💪

Did anyone watch any of the Olympic marathon trials this morning? I didn’t mean to, but I got sucked in - there’s something very relaxing about watching other people work really hard while you’re still in your dressing gown, I find. They covered 10k faster than I can cycle the same distance 😳 Mind you, I’d like to see them going that fast towing a malingering 5 year old, a 10+kg trailer bike, and a backpack with 4 pints of milk, bananas, hot cross buns, sausages and cakes in it... actually they’d still smash it, wouldn’t they 🤣

I watched it! It is astonishing to me how fast they run. Lovely to see the men’s winner, it meant so much to him.
Maybe we should run an alternative Olympics @Spudlet, where you have to compete with varying numbers of children and accessories attached!

New thread available, and yes the N in the title is not meant to be there. Sigh.
