Happy New Year! I’m starting a nice shiny new thread to keep track of my 2020 exercise goals. Please feel free to join me.

My goals are:

  1. To do some exercise on at least 250 days during 2020;
  2. To do at least 200 hours of exercise.

Hi Oubliette! Happy New Year!!

Count me in again (think it was 2017 that I last did this with you).

My goals:

  1. Exercise 5/6 times a week (well at least 4 times)
  2. Make sure I do a variety of exercise and work out all parts of body
  3. Try to do yoga once a week for flexibility
SophieLion · 01/01/2020 16:41

Today I did a 5km run (wasn't feeling the best this morning after yesterday evening and the run was HARD. Legs felt like lead weights). Then did 40 mins on glutes (the Blogilates 30 day glutes challenge), arms and abs toning.

Hhhhmmm wondering if I should count the total exercise days like you Oubliette. How did you decide on 250 as a goal?

RJnomore1 · 02/01/2020 14:07

Hello Oub!

I’m studying for a doctorate plus my full time job so I’m being sensible:

Goal training 150 days (3 days a week)

And walk/run/jog one mile as many days as I can (to get outside basically)

Starts on Monday, I’ve had a bad virus so still recovering. Mile a day started yesterday though.

So
0/150

SophieLion · 02/01/2020 15:22

Hello RJ, Good luck with the doctorate. Very impressive!

4 hours skiing today. Will attempt to do day 9 of the glutes challenge later but not sure it will happen!

Decided I may as well start counting the days I'm exercising even though I haven't fixed a goal yet.

Days exercised: 2

SophieLion · 02/01/2020 15:56

Day 9 of the glutes challenge done SmileSmileSmile

RJnomore1 · 02/01/2020 16:23

2/366

And even managed to take a slightly reluctant teen for a walk with me.

Hi sophie!

OublietteBravo · 02/01/2020 22:41

Wow! I can’t imagine doing a doctorate and working (I did mine the normal way - as a FT student straight after undergrad, and found writing a thesis to be fairly torturous). Good luck with that.

I dusted off Ri30 and did L1 as well as 6W6P L1 (1h 05min)

(2/248; 1h 55min)

Just did days 1 and 2 of the Adriene yoga challenge (70 mins) plus day 10 of the glutes challenge.

Days exercised: 3 (still not decided whether my target will be 260 days (so on average 5 days exercise per week) or 250 - which I think might be more doable).

Gym opens Monday...

OublietteBravo · 03/01/2020 19:38

A somewhat reluctant BFBM - it’s not my favourite circuit, but at least it is relatively short (50 min)

(3/247; 2h 45min)

@SophieLion - 260 days is probably doable. Don’t try 300 though - I did that a few years back and it was brutal. I think I exercised every day in June and November. Never again...

SophieLion · 04/01/2020 11:18

5 km run. Day 11 of glutes challenge and then Pilates toning for abs and arms.

Days exercised: 4

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 04/01/2020 15:08

Hi Oubliette. I was on the original thread, many, many moons ago, (definitely me and I think you) under different names.

I'd love to give the challenge a try this year but I can't start just yet as I'm trying to sort a shoulder injury. I'm hoping this time next week I'll be able to jog again.

OublietteBravo · 04/01/2020 18:36

Hi @MotherForkinShirtBalls. You’re probably right - I certainly used a different name when I started hanging out on the exercise boards.

Today’s offering was Ri30 L1D2 and 6W6P L2 (65 min)

(4/246; 3h 50min)

Hope your shoulder is better soon @MotherForkinShirtBalls and that you can join in next week. It's always nice to have company and inspiration!

Pleased as just managed to squeeze in a workout before we start our journey home from holiday.

5km interval run plus Day 12 glutes challenge.

Days exercised: 5

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 05/01/2020 18:54

Thanks Sophie Smile I don't know if it was the sports massage yesterday or the bottle of wine with dinner last night (last Christmas dinner of the year) but my shoulder is vastly better today so I went for a run. Well, the kids wanted to go to the park so they cycled while I ran plodded behind them. Keeping up with the bikes made me go a lot faster than usual Grin. It was 4km altogether.

I walked to dinner last night, which was 5km. Not sure if it would be cheating to include it...

SophieLion · 06/01/2020 14:22

Well done on the run MotherForkin 🏃🏻‍♀️

Did days 3 and 4 of Adriene Yoga and day 13 of the glutes challenge. Suspect tomorrow might be a rest day as going to be ubering the DCs around all day.

Days exercised: 6

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 06/01/2020 18:32

The weather was awful (raining sideways) this morning so I couldn't do my run as planned. Instead I did a 15 minute hiit routine when I got home from the school run (was working from home) and as I'd has the foresight to put the scooters in the car, I cycled to pick up the children while they scooted home. So all in all, about 30 minutes exercise. Not sure how I'll manage tomorrow as she is away, I've meetings all day and I've a late meeting so I can't even do anything after the kids go to bed. I'll see what I can come up with. I also realised that I did half a run on new year's day, when my shoulder started playing up, so I'm going to combine that with my walk on Saturday night and say I've three days done Wink

Days exercised: 3

OublietteBravo · 06/01/2020 20:05

I had a planned rest day yesterday. I’ve done Ri30 L1D3 and 6W6P L1 (65 mins).

(5/245; 4h 55min)

OublietteBravo · 07/01/2020 20:22

Ri30 L1D4 and 6W6P L2 (65 min). So far, so good. I think Thursday might be challenging. It’s DD’s parents evening and there will be wine. Will I manage to exercise, or will it end up being a rest day?

(6/244; 6h 00min)

OP posts:
SophieLion · 08/01/2020 07:48

Well yesterday ended up being a rest day (as I suspected!).

Just done Extreme Shed and Shred L2 and day 14 of the glutes challenge (it was a tough one...)

Days exercised: 7

OublietteBravo · 08/01/2020 19:30

I thought I’d try a change of DVDs. I’m still not sure whether that was a good idea! I’ve just done 30DS L1D1 & KB&T L1D1 (65 min)

(7/243; 7h 05min)

Just did Adriene yoga days 5 and 6 (lots of core in day 6 Smile) plus day 14 of glutes challenge.
