OublietteBravo · 01/01/2020 16:31

Happy New Year! I’m starting a nice shiny new thread to keep track of my 2020 exercise goals. Please feel free to join me.

My goals are:

  1. To do some exercise on at least 250 days during 2020;
  2. To do at least 200 hours of exercise.

That sounds interesting Lily. Did you have to fill in a form saying your concerns/areas you want to focus on etc? And how often do they review the plan and your progress?

MotherForkin - I think running is a tough one as you have to stick at it, you often reach a plateau and if you stop for a while you go right back to the beginning!! Plus some runs are great and easy and others feel like your legs are in fact two sacks of potatoes!

I used to run more often and for longer but I had a knee issue a couple of years ago and now I have to be careful with my speed and distance and only allowed to run on a treadmill or soft track or grass - absolutely not on concrete. It's a shame as I really used to enjoy just walking out my door and running on a lovely day. I also think it toned up my legs like nothing else.

The glutes challenge I'm doing is the 100 glutes challenge on the Blogilates site. I discovered this website when I hurt my knee and she has loads of short pilates-based workout videos for targeting different body areas. I think her abs videos and challenges are the best ones I've come across for my abs. She also has lots of weightless arm exercises which are great. I like doing a few of these after a run (if I have time!).

@SophieLion Yes I filled in a questionnaire that went into all the details of past experience, current lifestyle and what my goals are. You can contact her whenever you want through the app and she checks in at least weekly then you get a new plan each month. Her email address is [email protected] if you want to send her a message. Let me know how you get on! x

OublietteBravo · 17/01/2020 20:31

I’ll be interested to hear how that goes @Lily1234567. I don’t think I was even aware that such a thing existed.

This evening I did Ri30 L1D8 & 6W6P L2D4 (65 min). I’ve had a good week - 65 min every day since Monday.

@OublietteBravo I will let you know how I am getting on.

Its a really cool option because you get the support and expertise of a pt but for a fraction of the price compared to normal face to face session and she seems really knowledgeable from speaking to her x

I got exercising out of the way first thing today: NMTZ (50 min). I can feel a bit of a twinge in my left shoulder - I hope it isn’t going to persist.

Bit of a mixture today: day 22 of glutes challenge, day 15 of the Adriene yoga challenge then pilates for arms and abs (about 55 mins in total).

Days exercised: 15

SophieLion · 19/01/2020 11:26

A bit shorter today but intense: Ripped in 30 L4 and day 23 of the glutes challenge (100 rainbow butts per leg in downward dog - ouch!!!!)

Days exercised: 15

SophieLion · 19/01/2020 11:26

Correction : days exercised 16

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 19/01/2020 12:59

I was planning to do some circuits at home yesterday but instead ended up with two, yes two, trips to Ikea and furniture building. More of a mental strain then physical!

Sophie you're so right about running. I went out early today (before recommencing the building) and did 3km reasonably easily. It was slow but not the same struggle as Friday. It's one of the drawbacks of running for me, I never know it's going to feel until I do it.

My strength and conditioning class starts again tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it.

Days exercised: 13

OublietteBravo · 19/01/2020 19:24

I’d usually have a rest day on Sunday, but I have 2 hours of parents evening tomorrow - so I figured I just needed to get on and exercise today. 30DS L1D2 & KB&T L1D4 (65 min)

(17/233; 17h 10min)

SophieLion · 20/01/2020 07:47

Ripped in 30 L3 (which didn't seem any easier than yesterday's L4!), day 24 of the glutes challenge and day 16 of Adriene home yoga (great stretching).

I sympathise re Ikea MotherForkin!!!

Days exercised: 17

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 20/01/2020 16:05

My class was cancelled this morning due to lack of numbers Sad I went for a run instead. I did it in reverse so the uphill bit was at the end and it nearly killed me!

I forgot to say before, Sophie, thanks for reminding me about blogilates. I used to do some of her videos before and really like her. My shoulder seems much better but I'm giving it another week before I start increasing my strength work and I must look at her routines again.

Hope the reports are stellar tonight, Oubliette Wink

Days exercised: 14

SophieLion · 21/01/2020 07:15

Short of time today so only a 5km interval run.

Days exercised: 18

OublietteBravo · 21/01/2020 19:42

I agree that L3 of Ri30 isn’t any easier than L4. In fact, I seem to recall that L3 is my least favourite level...

I had a rest day yesterday (as planned). Back to exercising today: Ri30 L1D9 & 6W6P L1D5 (65 min).

Planned a rest day but I ended up being DD free while ds was at football so I went for a walk while he was training (lack of sports bra prevented a run!)
Days exercised 15

SophieLion · 22/01/2020 07:30

Days 19 and 21 of the yoga Home and day 25 of the glutes challenge (only 5 days to go!!).

Days exercised: 18

SophieLion · 22/01/2020 07:30

Wrong again! Days exercised: 19

OublietteBravo · 22/01/2020 20:00

Just a shortish cardio session: BFBM (50 min). Mostly because I’m spending the rest of the evening building flat pack furniture (which should surely give me some bonus exercise points Grin)

Good luck with the furniture Oubliette Smile

This morning I did L2 of Ripped in 30, day 18 of the Adrienne yoga challenge (I thought it would be more relaxing than it was - was actually a tougher session) and day 26 of the glutes challenge

Days exercised: 20

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 23/01/2020 11:50

Hectic day yesterday but I got a couple of good walks in so I'm counting them. Hill run this morning which was much better than the last one. And as I got to the top of the bigger hill there was a glorious sun coming through the fog, reflected on the sea. Nice way to start the day Smile

Days exercised: 17

OublietteBravo · 23/01/2020 19:47

A reluctant 6W6P L2D5 & Ri30 L1D10 (65 min)

(20/230; 20h 10min)

A more relaxed day today: days 14 and 23 of the yoga Home and day 27 of the glutes challenge. Was going to have a rest day but then I really felt my body needed some stretching out with yoga.

Days exercised: 21

OublietteBravo · 24/01/2020 19:03

I did my least favorite circuit (30DS L2D2) as well as KB&T L1D5 (which I rather like): 65 min in total.

(21/229; 21h 15min)

SophieLion · 25/01/2020 11:21

Another relaxed day instead of an official rest day. I just find yoga so beneficial - particular because I'm often short of time and don't stretch properly after exercising.

Days 20 and 24 of Adrienne yoga plus day 28 of the glutes challenge.

Days exercised: 22

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 25/01/2020 19:22

Short run this morning as I was at a cookery masterclass today. I had to take my watch off for kneading early on and I forgot to out it back, but I'd love to know what my step count was, walking around a kitchen for about 7 hours!
