Happy New Year! I’m starting a nice shiny new thread to keep track of my 2020 exercise goals. Please feel free to join me.

My goals are:

  1. To do some exercise on at least 250 days during 2020;
  2. To do at least 200 hours of exercise.

I’ve just done Ri30 L2 & Killer Abs L1 (65 min). I still hate the plank jacks/mountain climbers/plank jacks/mountain climbers cardio circuit in L2 of Ri30 - although I can actually do it without stopping these days.

Oh I remember that cardio circuit Oubliette! Well done!! 👏🏻👏🏻 it's a nasty one!! I'm not sure I can do it all the way through without stopping. Perhaps I will try tomorrow and see!!

A 5.5km run this morning.

Days exercised: 36

OublietteBravo · 12/02/2020 20:52

30DS L2D4 and KB&T L2D1 (65 min). I'm going to ache tomorrow!

Wasn't in the mood for JM today so did days 7 and 9 of the yoga challenge (day 8 was a 15 minute meditation so will save that for another time). I have feeling that my muscles are going to start hurting again later!!

Days exercised: 37

SophieLion · 13/02/2020 08:34

Actually did days 6 and 8 (so I don't get confused next time I do yoga)

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 13/02/2020 18:31

Had a crappy few days and didn't get finished at work until 10 on Tues night so unplanned rest day. Yesterday was better, strider, weights and run. But I spent 6 hours driving to and from a funeral today so I'm too frazzled for anything more than an easy walk this evening.

Days exercised 31.

OublietteBravo · 13/02/2020 19:57

Trying not to miss a day this week as I’m away over the weekend and at the beginning of next week (Storm Dennis permitting). Ri30 L1D5 & Killer Abs L1D5 (65 min) for me this evening.

Feck it, I ended up walking 5km a lot faster than I planned, so I'm counting it Grin

Happy Valentine's Day! ❤️

Hi MotherForkin! I was wondering where you'd gone. Yes, I would count a 5km walk - that's a pretty long walk!

I really didn't feel like doing a JM workout today (wanted to do yoga again) but trying to keep my exercise varied so "forced" myself and did Hard Body L2. It was long (7 circuits) and it was tough - I feel all wobbly now.

Days exercised:38

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 14/02/2020 12:07

Hi Sophie Smile hope your wobbles don't last too long, it sounds a tough circuit. I'm still here, plodding away. Strider and weights again today. Now that I'm a few days in, I'm starting to like weights again. My (admittedly still very light) bench press is getting easier and I was lower on my squats.

Hope you have a lovely weekend, Oubliette.

SophieLion · 14/02/2020 14:05

What is strider MotherForkin?

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 14/02/2020 16:52

I think it's called a strider Blush it's a cross trainer machine that you can vary between striding (cross country skiing motion) and stepping, but in an elliptical motion, if that makes sense? They are new in the gym and slightly less boring than a treadmill.

SophieLion · 14/02/2020 17:06

I'm sure you're right. I'm clueless with gym machines!!! Treadmill is boring but it's my only option for running now really as I'm not allowed to run on pavement (concrete) and no big park near us.

I keep meaning to try the cross trainer but I've no idea where to start ie what resistance. We're away the week after next and I can use the hotel gym. Do you have any tips as to what resistance level to start on? It doesn't go by speed too, does it? I really have no idea Confused

OublietteBravo · 14/02/2020 19:14

I did abs this evening: both levels of 6W6P (65 min). I might exercise tomorrow, and then again I might not. I have to be out of the house by 09:15, so it all depends on what time I get up. Otherwise I’ll be back on Wednesday. (All in the assumption that Storm Dennis doesn’t scupper my plans).

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 14/02/2020 20:48

I'm no expert, Sophie! The one I use goes from 0-15, with one being basically flat and 15 being like climbing an escalator. I vary my levels depending on how I feel on the day. On Wednesday I did 6ish minutes at each of levels 6, 10 and 15 (20mins in total). This morning I was a bit more tired hungover so I did 20mins at 6. They are very easy to change the level quickly, so you can play around to what feels harder as you go through the workout. I prefer running out doors and I only use the cardio machines when I'm doing weights so I feel like I've done a "proper" workout (I need to feel puffed out in the moment as well as knowing I'll be aching the next day Wink )

OublietteBravo · 15/02/2020 10:23

I didn’t get up in time to exercise. So I’m having today, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday as rest days. Back Wednesday.

Hope you enjoy your time away Oubliette and that the weathers stays ok for you.

thanks for the info MotherForkin. Probably I just need to get on the cross trainer and see what works for me. The week after next we go away so will try it then in hotel gym.

one hour yoga today (days 9 and 10 of the challenge).

Days exercised: 39

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 15/02/2020 14:53

I decided to try out the bike at the gym today since I couldn't get outside with the storm, so 25min on that, 20mins on the strider and 20mins core.

Have a lovely break Oubliette.

Days exercised 34

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 15/02/2020 15:59

Ds (8) just reminded me by gloating to dd that when I got home from the gym he also climbed up on my shoulders and I did some squats and we had a practice for a mosh pit dancing round the kitchen with him up there 😂

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 16/02/2020 18:36

Managed to get a gap in the storm and I went out for a half hour run this evening. Not sure how I'll manage the next few days...it's mid term break and dh is away for most of the week. 🤦

Days exercised 35

SophieLion · 17/02/2020 07:42

5km interval run plus 15 mins pilates for arms and upper body

Days exercised: 40

OublietteBravo · 17/02/2020 10:08

No exercise yesterday, although according to my phone I walked 23,500 steps (or 17km). So not exactly a rest day either.

OP posts:
SophieLion · 17/02/2020 16:47

Are you on a walking holiday Oubliette?! 17km!!

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 17/02/2020 17:02

That is impressive for holiday, Oubliette Grin

I managed half an hour of weights between child herding.

Days exercised 36

OublietteBravo · 17/02/2020 20:10

I’m not on a walking holiday (and ‘only’ 22,200 steps today).
