Supposed to be working but could not resist challenge of new thread title!

OP posts:
RunnersFestiveTipple · 16/12/2011 21:12

Hello. Just checking in on the new thread. Haven't been able to MN or run since last week (boo), as in mad rush of last week of term, and sickgate finally hit. Why is it my children like to vomit at 1am, necessitating complete change of bed and duvet/pillows?

Am heading to Devon tomorrow to see my parents so hoping to fit in a run or two on real hills (they are on Exmoor).

Sounds like everyone is going further and faster every time I come on here. Leaves me feeling like a right old fraudster.

DrNortherner · 16/12/2011 22:05

fanny sudocrem is good for chaffing I believe. Dh swears by it for chefs arse which I believe is similar to runners arse. Yes, he has gone hardcore, he is running about 35 miles a week at the mo, and reading 'runners nutrition tips' and telling me to buy flax seeds and spinach and shit like that. His bro has signed up for an ultra which makes dh's miles look paltry - they are very competitive as sibligs!

Still no snow here, so not tried my ice track tings yet, this time last year we had loads of snow....

Must get some more races entered for 2012.

Night all.

fannybanjo · 16/12/2011 22:15

DrNo thanks, I actually have slathered sudocrem on it tonight, it's like a flat boil. Weird but it's definitely chaffing, just in a small area. Err what's chefs arse and how on earth do they get that?! Good on your DH. Bit of competitiveness always helps. Myself and my friend like that, if we don't run together and I do an 8 miler at 8.10m/m she wants to do same or vice versa. However I'm finding that I'm not as strong a runner when I run with her.

DrNortherner · 16/12/2011 22:22

chefs arse is basically chaffing from walking around a hot kitchen all night. Ask any chef and they will have had it at some point. Not pleasant!

fannybanjo · 16/12/2011 22:29

God if someone can add my marathon on 29th April I'd be eternally grateful Blush Greater Manchester Marathon.

Jesus chaffing from cooking! That is bad!

fannybanjo · 16/12/2011 22:30

You been wearing the headband DrNo?

DrNortherner · 16/12/2011 22:35

Added your race fanny. Yes, love the headband. Loads of compliments at running club. I see you have been selling the ice tread things. You are like the thread dealer! And a marathon?! Respect lady.

Just adding Fanny's marathon :) Didn't get out today because I'm still feeling quite ill, really missing it though so will have to get out tomorrow regardless I think. I'm doing a basic abs workout every day at home though to try and improve my knackered core stability!

We have loads of glitter here but I love it Xmas Blush Lots of edible glitter ends up in my food this time of year.

No snow here yet but I'm hoping (love the snow!)

I'm so impressed by everyone's speed, I can do a mile in about 14m so far so have a long way to go :)

fannybanjo · 16/12/2011 22:46

Thank you Alma and DrNo!! Haha yeah I'm currently wrapping up amphetamines to sell on here, make a roaring trade if I let on that's what makes us run faster..,, Wink re marathon, I'm concerned I'm going to peak to early in training as I'm nearly at top end of mileage for it so intend to get to 24 miles before Feb and my friend who I run with leaves for Oz then at least I can then do Blackpool and throw a couple of 18-20 milers in alone before the marathon. My toenails are fucked though. How's your training going DrNo

Alma we all started where you are, biebe me, my first runs were on a treadmill and very very slow. I walked/ran for a long time. However if you WANT to get faster you will as the drive to do so is what pushes you.

DrNortherner · 16/12/2011 22:55

I'm stuck at about 8 miles. Will start upping it after Christmas. Been doing some serious speed and hill work at running club though. You joined a club yet fanny?

DrNortherner · 16/12/2011 22:56

Meant to say I have been looking for accommodation in London for when dh does Olympic park run and it's about £200 a night Shock May not be doable if going to cost ££££.........

futurity · 16/12/2011 23:05

Popping in to say what an amazing time Rhet ! I am envious of all the running going on..neck slowly on mend but can't see me running until a least next week.

Also thinking of moshi on a plane tonight off to her new life! Very exciting!

fannybanjo · 16/12/2011 23:07

Yes I joined a club last week and it was ace, they asked me to do a Borders League race but I couldn't fit it in. What type of speed work and hill work you doing? That will stand you in far better stead than just adding miles on each week. You'll be far better conditioned for the race. I need to do hill work this week. Haven't done much for a few weeks.

fannybanjo · 16/12/2011 23:08

God has Moshi gone tonight? Smile. God love her, she's a little star that one. Oh and DrNo don't be a damp squib, you would pay the £200 if it 'twas you... Grin

fannybanjo · 16/12/2011 23:18

Futurity glad neck getting better and listen to da Fanny - go buy yourself an orthodox pillow ASAP. If you don't I'm gonna send you one!

fannybanjo · 16/12/2011 23:19

Oh not orthodox pillow? Orthopaedic!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 16/12/2011 23:22

Yes the legend that is the Mosh is currently flying to Oz for Xmas and the SF for brand spanking new life. I salute you ma'am!

We only have a blowup bed a wee spare room, DrNo, but you guys would be more than welcome to stay when you come down for Olympic Run. T'is no problem!

K has been fine today, but now we have got into bed is again a snuffling wee piggy!!!

DD1 not in bed till 10.30 tonight. Pleeeeease have a really long lie in!!!

fannybanjo · 16/12/2011 23:29

Peach do you want my humidifier... Grin I'll courier it to you in the morning! Wink

fannybanjo · 16/12/2011 23:30

Oh very Envy of the Noshi one.

monkeyLFDTwench · 17/12/2011 08:27

Chez monkey also available drN as long as you can tolerate three bickering boys waking you up at 8 am.

monkeyLFDTwench · 17/12/2011 08:29
rhetorician · 17/12/2011 08:33

DrNo - where are you looking? I can ask my mum if there's anything near her (just a quick trip on the tube away)...she also has been known to do b&b...

Going with the girls to town to meet cousin and SIL/BIL for the annual pick a decoration/hot choc/mince pie extravaganza (on the last Sat before xmas Hmm). DD2 has a stuffy cold which we need to keep an eye on, given that she isn't yet 2 weeks old

DrNortherner · 17/12/2011 10:38

Oh see this is why I love MN, all these offers of accommodation! I looked on laterooms.com in the docklands area and £200 per night was about average prce available. My company has a hotel in London but already busy on that night so staff rate not available.....unless I can sweet talk the general manager.....otherwise, may have to take up a kind offer of B&B. We will of course pay for the services Smile, thanks monkey and peach, and rhet's Mum.

Taking ds to his cub camp this afternoon, then off for an 8 miler with dh, SIL and my mate.

fanny last week I did the toughest hill session ever with the club. I very nearly puked on many ocassions. More than 5 miles of bloody steep hills. It was like ground hog day. We have lots of hills in this town so quite lucky Hmm

Have a good weekend all.

AngeChica · 17/12/2011 10:56

drno do you also fancy the Muddy Boots 10k in Ripon Feb that sticky mentioned? A northern meet? :)
