Supposed to be working but could not resist challenge of new thread title!

OP posts:
bonkersLFDT20 · 15/12/2011 22:31

Fanny average pace was 7:43. Who needs to work it out when you have a Garmin to do it for you! Elevation gain 343 ft (we have named the hills Albert and Beatrice - bastards they are!)

How lovely to have a day without the kidlets. Get SO much more cleaning done!

Yes Moshi eat. You will vanish otherwise and be no good to anyone!

Yes Bumply you do indeed need to enter a 10K.

fannybanjo · 15/12/2011 22:43

Great pace bonkers - some days you can just fly can't you then others are just a struggle. I need to work at getting my mid distance pace to sub 8m/m and I know I can do it but it just means pushing myself. Can run 5 miles at that pace but not 8 yet... You've inspired me!! Tomorrow is pyramid intervals so doing 0.5 mile one at 8.30, 8.15, 8.00, 7.45, 7.30, 7.15 then back up again. Only way I can see me comfortably getting into the 7 m/m long distance territory. Oh no cleaning today BUT did clean fridge out at 7am and bleach and scrub sink and use toothbrush to get muck out around seal of sink and worktop... BlushBlush

Badger I've PM'd you but in case you haven't seen it, clothes are parcelled up and waiting by door for collection tomorrow.

bonkersLFDT20 · 15/12/2011 23:03

Thanks Fanny. I have the best running partner. He's a Dad of two wee gals and we just talk shit about everything all the way round. He's really into training for the Cambridge 1/2 and I simply cannot let myself be beaten by a boy.

I actually felt better at the end than when we started. Not sure what that says, but it's a good buzzy feeling.

You can indeed fucking do it!

AlmaWalkingInAWinterWonderland · 16/12/2011 08:22

Just checking in for the morning. Hoping I can get out later, weather and cough dependent. I've been checking out halfmara training plans to start and getting quite excited. Researching potential races near me that I could sign up for :) Now I need to make mince pies with DD (the tyranny of advent calendar activities) so better get started on the pastry.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 16/12/2011 08:40

Oh dear orange, bless you, that story!

Sounds like a fab day fanny, love the way your day of "no cleaning", includes doing the fridge, the sink, and the kitchen worktops Grin

think K has caught DP's cold as is very snuggly so didn't sleep well. Best get up. Got DD's Xmas party this morning, then swimming lessons, then drinks round at the neighbours. And it's pissing down out there!!!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 16/12/2011 08:41

Snuffly!! Though she is also snuggly Smile

ibbydibby · 16/12/2011 09:14

Great time Bonkers well done. Bumply well done also, have you found a 10k yet? Have good hols Running

Good luck with pyramids Fanny. Grotty weather here, heavy rain. Off to DS2's carol assembly in a little while. Last one Sad because he moves to secondary school in September. Rhet hope last night with DD1 was better. Like the others say, am sure that very soon she will reach a point where she can't remember life before DD2. Can sort of remember early days with DS2. DS1 was 4 and in school nursery, and how we struggled. Looking back now though I just don't know where the time has gone.

DS2 one for poo-gate also. When he was about 3 weeks old I had 2 blokes round putting concrete fence posts in etc. On arrival I offered them a cup of tea. Went in to make it, DS1 crying so thought I would quickly feed him. Pooed everywhere so changed him. Fed him again. He was sick. Another clean up. Fed him again. Poooed everywhere. Cleaned him up. He fell asleep. Finally got around to fence men tea. Took 2 cups outside. One bloke had gone and the other had finished, just about to pack up and go. Oops! Xmas Blush

Managed to go out to running club last night, first time in about 3 weeks. There are usually 20-30 of us on a Thursday evening, but there were just 10 last night. Fortunately there was one other female there or I may have felt inclined to slink off home.

Sticky your cooking session sounds fab, love fudge! Good luck with mince pies Alma.

Moshi hope you are ok, sounds very stressful. Have I missed something? Not sure why you will be catching up from Sydney? Xmas Confused

Ange shame that race has sold out. It's funny how some races seem to sell out weeks ahead, and others still have spaces on the day. Have still not submitted application for Sunday, must check there are still places.

rhetorician · 16/12/2011 10:16

thanks ibby; DD1 has a memory like an elephant, so not sure how quickly she will forget! she is doing very well, really - she likes the baby, she just misses us - I sort of know how she feels, as I never seem to get to spend any time at all with DP. She threw a complete wobbly this morning when I dropped her at nursery - all the staff were Shock as they have almost never even seen her cry before (other than bumps and scrapes). It's been an overwrought week for her and I feel terrible for her even though I know she will get through it.

Managed to do about 7 miles this morning in 1.06 which is really good for me! it's icy and there's a dusting of snow on everything.

DD1 and DP and I are going to make christmas cards this afternoon with glitter - now I need a fool emoticon...

stickyLFDTfingers · 16/12/2011 12:21

don't worry rhet - I'm sure the glitter will be gone by about March...

It's been snowing like mad here - very pretty! Just back from the carol service (how lovely to come out of a carol service into snow - the children were entranced :)) so going to have a bite to eat then go out for a spin. Might even put the snowtrax on :)

bonkersLFDT20 · 16/12/2011 12:37

Rhet At first I thought you meant your DP threw a complete wobbly! Which of course she is fully entitled to right now.

Why are you letting glitter into your home?! This is why they go to nursery.
It WILL end up in Ana's nappy, no question.
You'll have to get Fanny round to clean (the house, not the nappy), she loves that sort of thing Xmas Grin

You had a good run. You must be really tired so getting out at all is really good and doing 7 miles in that time is nothing to scoff at.

Ibby I didn't get the reference to Sydney either. Seems like the long way round to me!

DrNortherner · 16/12/2011 12:43

Well hello everyone, how are all my loving running friends? Smile

Apologies for being absent lately. Life has been interfering with my MN time. Grr. I am now sitting down with a brew, and trying to catch up. A few newbies I see that I have missed, hello to you all

Some great running going on by the sounds of it, bonkers you are on fire at the moment, very speedy running.

fanny wft did you start doing 20 mile runs ya bitch? Grin You will deffo whoop my arse at Blackpool now, I will be eating your dust.

moshi I simply don?t know how you do it. You are amazing. Wish you and your lovely family a fab new life in San Fran. Just don?t start talking like Kelly Rowland?.

rhet is dd1 having a tough time of it bless her? As others have said she has a lot on her plate at the moment, it will all come good in the end, and at least you get to enjoy a Christmas without your Mother and you can relax then?.mine is arriving next Friday??

peach how are you are the gorgeous baby Kate?

Despite my absence on the thread, I have still been running. Doing 10k this afternoon and an 8 miler planned for Sat afternoon after I have dropped ds off at his first ever cub camp. Hit a bit of a plateau distance wise and need to get my arse into gear in the NY and start upping my miles ready for Blackpool.

Will make a concerted effort to pop in more Smile

DrNortherner · 16/12/2011 12:44

rhet have you changed the name of dd2?!

rhetorician · 16/12/2011 13:45

Dr No a bit, but nothing unusual or unexpected...DD2 is now Anastasia Iseult (mainly because all the English rellies hated Iseult, I mean really hated it).

Yes, no maternal visit is just fabulous I must say - first time for years...

ibby clearly the non-running (note, I did not say 'rest) is helping, plus I've lost a bit of weight, which always aids things - for a bit at least

monkeyLFDTwench · 16/12/2011 15:10

Afternoon all, just trying to catch up with you lot! Not much going on here. First day of school holidays and a trip to the dreaded dentist. We all came out unscathed, but it's just such a logistical nightmare - me and the three boys and a waiting room full of other people ..... I need a filling re-doing, the dentist has suggested having it replaced with white - but then I have a mouth full of fillings so replacing them all will cost £££.

Haven't been for a run since Monday, just too darned busy!

DrNortherner · 16/12/2011 17:33

I must confess to not being too keen on Iseult myself, not that it's any of my God damn business, How is it pronounced? Anastasia is a beautiful name I think.

rhetorician · 16/12/2011 17:48

'izz-ult' - I think it sounds strange to an English ear; given that the child will probably end up somewhere other than here it's probably just as well. Anastasia is a long-established family name in DP's family, plus we both really liked it. So we're happy...

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 16/12/2011 18:40

Rhet how was glitter gate?

monkey glad to hear kasabian were good. I used to be into them a while back when they first appeared, didn't even know they were still around and able to fill the O2!

I have been brought back to the baby poo days today as DS obviously has some sort of funny tummy and whilst he hasn't been sick his poos have been akin to the crazy-explosive-onceaweek-breastfed stylie ones he used to do. Joy.

Had today off as it was our work Xmas party last night and I was a bit tiddly (well for those of you on FB you might have guessed that Xmas Blush, should have an automatic block on social networking when over the limit). Lovely lovely time had at black tie do at fancy london hotel. Feel very lucky that I work somewhere where I have some really good friends and generally nice people there. Giving myself today off exercise and eating heathily. Tomorrow back on it.

I've printed off my training plan from the RW smartcoach. Did as the easiest version possible (moderate, 3 runs a week) as I have never done such a long distance as 13.1 miles and didn't want to strain my back or shin splints. But it is incredibly slow even by my standards - next week as the official first week it wants me doing 2 mile runs at 12.53 minute pace!! I suppose it's quite useful as a reminder of the bare minimum I need to do and I can try and always do a bit more/faster runs that it recommends.

orangeLFDThead · 16/12/2011 18:45

fanny still not good, coughing away. Really missing running. I have not been to cheshire oaks for ages. Keep saying I must go.
peach ah poor k hope she ok.
monkey if you are going to go for white I would not get them all done at once but just get them done as and when they need replacing. Alot of dentists won't change them all at once for you.
moshi hope you bearing up.

monkeyLFDTwench · 16/12/2011 18:50

Where do you work cherry? Actually you don't have to out yourself if you don't want to, just being nosy. I used to work for H. Smith and C.am. McKenna.

I had a little too much vino last night, feeling the effects of a couple of glasses and a late night today - I really don't enjoy feeling the after-effects. Too old!

Snow - just a little this morning. Hoping DH is safely on his way back from Gloucester, he had to be up at the crack of dawn and will probably be late Sad.

DebiTheScot · 16/12/2011 19:29

Haven't read anything for a couple of days but just checking in to report that I did actually go for a 4.5 mile run this aft in the cold & rain.

Off out tonight for work do and staying in the hotel as boys at a friends, woohoo!

fannybanjo · 16/12/2011 20:32

Evening my chipper runners. Hope all are well and not snowed in! Snow here this avvy and did my intervals as planned in the hailstones this morning, pretty tough. Very hard to maintain continual pace for half a mile but we pretty much managed it although I'm an chaffing to hell on my arse. There's one point where the seam meets the too of my under buttock are ma and it's agony.... Any tips other than Vaseline? I fear DH will think I'm really running to meet some hot stud who's giving me a good rogering.

DrNo hey you're back!! Missed you! don't you be worrying, it's more than likely come March I'm not running due to above chaffing problem and I'm rubbing instead. Has your DH gone hardcore yet?

orange sorry you're still not well, you'll be back on your feet soon enough.

badger clothes have been sent. They may be with you tomorrow but more than likely Monday. I'm gutted as found some pink Converse boots size 6 before. You could have had them as well.

fannybanjo · 16/12/2011 20:33

Under buttock area not are ma!!

fannybanjo · 16/12/2011 20:39

peach hope Kate ok? DD3 had permanent snuffles for weeks when she was born, I bought a humidifier and kept it in our room all night, REALLY helped with feeding as I found because she was a winter baby, her nose blocked easily with central heating etc.

Lastly rhet WOW WOW WOW you have speeded up hugely!!! 7 miles in 1.06 is fucking fantastic!! Well done you. Oh and no, you don't EVER buy fucking glitter. EVER. It's the devil's spawn and breeds like maggots.

rhetorician · 16/12/2011 20:49

not sure what happened to me out there today - like someone lit a rocket under my arse. I didn't think about heart rate, just ran tolerably hard because I could. It was cold, which always helps.

Yes, glitter - but DD1 had fun making cards, and a friend popped round with a stollen for us (DP HATES marzipan) and made a big fuss of DD who then proudly showed her her little sister...so we've had a good day today. DP had glitter up her nose!

fannybanjo · 16/12/2011 20:57

rhet I really must post the photo of the pink castle I made DD1 out of a huge John Lewis delivery box when she was 3 which had lights and was covered in pink paint and glitter... Hmm Blush however DD1 had a whale of a time with it and I am pretty proud that I left cleaning the taps long enough to complete it.
