OP posts:
backwardLFDTpossom · 03/01/2012 18:28

Sorry you didn't get the job, ibby

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 03/01/2012 18:33

Oh and I am currently freezing having had a second soaking out for a walk to the supermarket, plus my carb cutting started today. Miss my porridge, and nothing but salmon and watercress to "look forward" to tonight Sad.

Wheelybug · 03/01/2012 18:37

Thanks for looking shred. Their summer collection is out in the next couple of weeks so maybe there'll be something similar. It'll probably take me that long to decideGrin.

Really don't underestimate your achievements shred. You're an inspiration ! I will see that marathon finish line one day (and not
From the sidelinesGrin)

backwardLFDTpossom · 03/01/2012 18:44

Mmm, Salmon and Watercress! :D

cestlavie · 03/01/2012 18:45

Wow sticky good work on that run. That's fantastic, especially in this weather.

Sorry about the job ibby, hopefully a useful experience though and great to hear that you were one of the three shortlisted which is something of an achievement in it's own right.

Thanks for the quick resolutiuon update - love the sound of peaches. Will do my best to be, um, awesome as well....

Am also enjoying the January penury shred - looking forward to the 6 mile run back in the rain from St Albans tonight followed by a non-alcoholic beer and an early night. Hoorah!

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 03/01/2012 19:01

You lot are too nice Smile.

cest hope the weather is ok for your run, I like the run to H and back from mine, it's a good workout though mostly up on the way and down back to mine. If you go the same way I do give the lamp post just outside Devdas a good kick for me!

orangeLFDThead · 03/01/2012 19:25

Wow great work sticky.
Sorry about the job ibby, its all good experience though.
Right boys back at school tomorrow. House is a tip and I only have tomorrow to sort it out as working rest of week. But somehow have to fit in run tomorrow and also have eyebrow shape appointment and hair cut appointment. Thats makes me sound really vain, which actually I am not but going out this weekend for are wedding anniversary meal and my eyebrows are well and truly overgrown Blush. So I think housework will have to wait. But can't miss run Grin

bonkersLFDT20 · 03/01/2012 19:59

It would help if I actually turned the Garmin OFF after my run. I now have my run AND my journey home from work in the car logged. Any way to delete part of a mapped route?

rhetorician · 03/01/2012 20:28

ibby bummer - make sure you get all the feedback they can offer you - it will really help with future applications/interviews

I am probably the only person on the planet who is quite looking forward to going to work tomorrow - a few hours with no children - I guess this is a consequence of having both of them 24/7 since December 22nd! they are lovely but my god...

think my only running purchase for the next while will be the baby jogger - that's some investment though, isn't it?

fannybanjo · 03/01/2012 21:21

ibby so sorry to hear you didn't get the job. Sad. Can't believe you had to carry on as normal for your mum.

sticky I said well done on FB but I'll say it again - WELL DONE!!

bonkers I'm not too sure - however if you know your time for run, you can change that and mileage in edit settings which won't change the map but will put your pace back to the right time.

Just did 8.40 miles with 4 miles of continuous hill training - up and down same 2 hills. Was ok, wind bad though.

Trying my hardest on FB to keep it clean as my mum is now on it! Fucking hard though!!

sfxmum · 03/01/2012 21:32

sticky well done

and ibby sorry you did not get it this time, will you be getting some feedback? I always find it useful

not muc today apart from trying to gather notes with dh and dd around, hopefully they will make themselves scarce tomorrow and I can actually write the blinking thing, I wish I wasn't such a last minute Mary

hope the weather is kinder tomorrow for some good running

rhetorician · 03/01/2012 22:03

am sniggering at all the 'wind bad' comments, dd2 is the fartiest baby ever so every parp is accompanied by huge giggles from dd1...

if I haven't run further than 8k for almost a month, do you think I will be ok with 12 tomorrow? I really want to start building up now that dd1 is back at nursery 3 x a week - but have to visit my mum this weekend, so no running at the weekend.

I reckon I can do the following once we are back to normal

Mon - run home from work (10 minimum, 15 long way)
Tues - 5k
Weds - 12k (have 3 hours between classes at work)
Fri - 8k
Sat or Sun - 10

The main problem is fitting in a long run, but this will do until my 10k in April, which I must remember to sign up for

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 03/01/2012 22:26

sfx hope you find some peace and quiet for your work.

stickyLFDTfingers · 03/01/2012 22:41

ibby very sorry to hear that. Hope a new opportunity comes up soon.

fanny I have the same problem! I was a little panic stricken that I'd used the F word commenting on someone else's status. Then I remembered that I am a grown woman for fuck's sake. Then I remembered that other people don't see comments unless they're friends with that person too (phew!). You'd think I was still 14!

rhet given you're going back, rather than building up to 12 for the first time, I think you'll be fine. You're looking a bit streaky again :)

orange LOL at your overgrown eyebrows!! Luckily I'm pale and interesting, so I have to be right up against the mirror before I realise I've turned into Dennis Healey.

shred that finishing moment is exactly what I want :)

cest that's what I should be doing. Instead I've had two alcoholic beers and a lovely curry and am stupidly staying up to watch Lee Mack. This is why I'll never be a proper affleet I fear...

peachLFDTsmuggler · 03/01/2012 22:58

Oh I'm sorry ibby, that sucks. Hopefully the experience was a useful one for you.

Rhet, am sure 12 will be fine. It's not that long since you were streaking away! Good luck at your mum's! Is This DP's first time on her own with the DDs?

Ladies, and gent, I feel I can share this with you. I had the hardest poo of my life tonight. I swear to god, it took 10 minutes and in the end I really just had to strain to get it out. Was living in fear of my farmer giles! That will teach me not to look at a fruit or vegetable for 2 weeks. Having not learned from this I have spent evening eating Celebrations and only just now a nasty white bread "ender" covered in Nutella. Disgraceful.

Ok, you may go back to your lives citizens.

futurity · 03/01/2012 23:04

Thank you peach ..my life is better for knowing about that..I can sleep soundly tonight Wink

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 03/01/2012 23:11

peach I'm crying with laughter at your Christmas poo. I'm in fear of this myself, what with cutting the carbs and increasing protein - one of my friends did the Atkins Diet a few years back and still blanches with horror at the memory of her first Atkins Poo Grin. I'm too polite to tell her that her rancid breath was far more of a problem for the rest of us!

GeekLove · 03/01/2012 23:32

Re running pants - they are worth it since I found that regular knickers often rode up and can abrade your bum crack- happened to me with the result it bled!

Meanwhile went out for a 4.8k today as had the day off and there was a decent window between squalls. Meh though as I am managed 8 km/h compared to 12 km/h which was what I was doing before ds was born. Onwards and upwards!

sfxmum · 04/01/2012 00:04

peach thanks for sharing love, that is why I took my porridge and prunes to in laws although FIL insisted on cooking a fry up everyday for breakfast

shred I can drop carbs at every meal to loose the lard but the porridge stays at least every other say or so, otherwise I think Atkins types recommend the capsules Psyllium Husks capsules, they work too and plenty of water

regarding pants I wear big granny pants from Sloggy for running, can't be doing with shifting and marathongs

sfxmum · 04/01/2012 00:06

every other day

geek (how geek are you?) you are nearly at the 5K, good going speed will come, I have been assured, do you have any races booked?

SonicMiddleAge · 04/01/2012 05:04

Ibby ? sorry to hear about the job, was it part of an ongoing job search or a speculative application for that particular role?

rhet babyjoggers are fantastic, I was lucky enough to be given ours, from a friend who had already taken it thru two kids, and it?s done both of ours really well and is in good enough nick to pass on to my brother.. DH used it a fair bit for running, though I must admit I never got into the stride, but I loved it for general use of rough terrain, bushwalks, beaches etc. I think your 12 should be fine if you?re back up to 8.. but then again I did 16km after nothing for a fortnight and gave myself heatstroke so maybe you shouldn?t look to me for advice...

Am still trying to work out how to manage exercising through the summer and avoiding getting myself in such a state again... The dreaded sensible low impact ?dull as fuck-- blah blah blah swimming might be re-entering my world.

bonkersLFDT20 · 04/01/2012 07:20

Rhet Enjoy being back at work! Your running schedule looks quite full. Remember to rest! To be able to fit in that amount of running with two small children at home is quite something.

Ibby I'm sorry about the job. It's a hard knock even if you know you weren't the best person.

Peach Thanks for that. Go eat some sprouts love!

I wear my post natal pants when running - they're made of crappy cheap cotton very fine fabric and quite loose.

DS1 is supposed to be back at school today, but DH called yesterday evening to tell me they didn't attempt to cycle (and train) back from North Norfolk due to the weather. Woops.

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 04/01/2012 07:51

Oh God - Christmas poos and bleeding bum cracks - why did I ever stop reading this thread Grin

I prefer M+S midis (black only) for all knicker eventualities. If they ever stop making them I may have to go full granny knicker.

Well done for making such a short short-list Ibby. If you didn't shine it was probably because they were the wrong people for you.

Only one more day before the kids go back to school and nursery. I am looking forward to being able to run everyday again. I think I will do a marathon this year or next before I go back to work and have no time for training properly. (I know many people manage to work full-time, have small kids and run marathons but I am not that kind of superwoman!)

Am smiling at remembering sling assisted toileting. My DD was in the sling almost permanently due to reflux so I got quite adept at cooking, eating, doing my hair, cleaning etc without waking her up.
