Supposed to be working but could not resist challenge of new thread title!

OP posts:
stickyLFDTfingers · 02/01/2012 22:27

backwardpossom that sucks, tonsillitis is horrible. Hope it gets out your system soon.

badger I think (hope!) I just sent you a friend request on FB. Or I'll make friends with some other LT perhaps!

shred hope you have your ring holder in pride of place on your mantelpiece. You could say it was a Tracey Emin original, who would argue?

orange sounds like you're properly under the weather too, hope the new year brings you some luck.

So, unless one of my legs falls off during the night, I'm bloddy well going for a run tomorrow. And it's going to be 16 miles long! Gosh

YeahThatsTheBadger · 02/01/2012 22:46

sticky are you SG? 'Cos if so, we're already friends! Sorry if not and I've got you mixed up with someone else.

stickyLFDTfingers · 02/01/2012 22:47

no, that's Shred! I find it difficult to keep track, don't worry. I'm KT, and have a moustache.

YeahThatsTheBadger · 02/01/2012 22:54

I had just tracked you down and your friend request came up!

backwardLFDTpossom · 02/01/2012 23:19

I totally lose track of who is who on my Facebook - I have about 8 of you added as friends I think!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 03/01/2012 00:23

Good luck tomorrow ibby!

badger, are we fb friends. I get confused...

fanny, dunno how I'll do it. Would like to run whole thing but probably v slowly.

Fuck me, the cock art story just about gave me a hernia!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 03/01/2012 00:26

badger, scratch that. We are, we are, of course we are.

SonicMiddleAge · 03/01/2012 01:36

Happy NY everyone. Christmas break has been lovely and relaxing, but no real running as I found it too hot. Went out for what at the time seemed a lovely run on NYE, as it cooled off (26-27 degrees) and did 16km. Run included the sight of more stretch hummers than I thought existed (Perth is a classy place) and many many girls tarted up to the nines heding up to Kings park to watch fireworks, , accompanied by their blokes, who were still dressed in boardies, tee shirts and thongs. Also saw 4 parrots killing another parrot, and a kookaburra with a snake in its mouth. Got back just as dd was going to be so went straight from hot run into AC room. Temp difference sent my body into some kind of heat shock, spent the next hour or so alternating shivering violently, and burning up, threw up the Gatorade dh had made me drink to try and rehydrate, and collapsed into bed at 9pm... As dh said, he has seen me in that state on NUYE, but generally after drinking, and a bit later in the evening... Poor dh had bought oysters and champagne for a nice eve together so I kind of killed that one, as well as feeling terrible that night, and all the next day, when he thoughtfully took the girls to Puss in Boots to let me go back to bed. Not my best start to a year...

cestlavie · 03/01/2012 08:56

Happy new year all!

Haven't had time to catch up properly on the thread but saw ibby has an interview today so best of luck with that.

No real running for me at all over the last 10 days. Managed to fit in 5K this morning but hoping to get back into it again tomorrow... need a date for a race in the diary.

What's everyone's new year running resolutions? (Or has this already been done and I've missed it Shock)

Wheelybug · 03/01/2012 09:19

Poor you sonic. I hope you are ok now.

Hello cest . There was some discussion of resolutions but we've probably broken
Most of them by nowWink. I didn't come up with any but it think mine would be -

Keep running
Do 2 half marathons, improving on my time
Do some shorter races too
Not spend my time fretting about every ache and pain Grin.

futurity - I have ordered a belt like wot you got with some amazon vouchers, as am getting fed up of carrying
A big water bottle and am used to running with loads in my back pocket so hoping
It will work for me.

Does anyone here shop in Sweaty Betty ? Any recommendations ? I have £60 of vouchers to spend. Maybe a gym bag to replace my crappy old rucksack ....

stickyLFDTfingers · 03/01/2012 09:37

sonic hope you're feeling better now. Had to google Stretch Hummer as I had absolutely no idea what one was (even animal, vegetable or mineral!). I have furthered my education this morning. Shock at parrot behaviour. Who knew they could be so mean...

Hi cest! There has been some new year resolving, but always room for more (which I can copy). My vote for best so far is peach's "be awesome at running"!

On the pooter because have decided my planned route on the moors would be silly. OK I'm not going to blow away, but breathing might be tricky! So am doing a lower route - still at cat 5 climb according to Mapmyrun (tho I'm not sure whether that means it's a little bit of a hill or a fuck off mountain! I know most of the route, so I'd be surprised to find Everest on it, but you never know...).

See y'all later.

DebiTheScot · 03/01/2012 09:44

Good luck ibby Smile

Was thinking about running today as dh not back to work till tomorrow but it's very windy and very wet. We'll see.
Ds2 has just been dropped off at pre-schl for his first day.

AngeChica · 03/01/2012 10:15

Happy New Year. Sonic always best to clarify that "thongs" = flip flops in Oz! :) But hope you are feeling better. I recall going to a park in Perth near my SIL where all the parrots come down and land on you and there are some really tame kangaroos.
DS and I have just been out for a very windy dog walk where DS nearly got blown over. And that takes some doing as he is built like a tank. We were passed by a diehard runner. Hope it has died dwon by tonight so I can run without fear of slates falling on my head. One of my many irrational fears Blush.
Teacher training day today for DS school so one more day of freedom - back to work, school etc. tomorrow... :( back to reality.
Good luck ibby

futurity · 03/01/2012 10:30

Good luck ibby

Am finding the water bottle is good wheely. I haven't put much water in yet..just enough to test and it is surprising how unaware I am of them to be honest. They sit perfectly around my not so tiny waist. The spouts on the bottles are a bit tight..I really have to pull them to get it out but I am sure that will change with more use.

Am really glad I did my LSR yesterday...it would normally be today but I saw the weather was due to be bad and changed it. Yesterday was beautiful blue sky ..a lovely winter day for a run. Today is not! Just grim and awful..thankfully the kids are back at school and I am back working.

rhetorician · 03/01/2012 10:30

quick drop in to say good luck to ibby -back later :)

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 03/01/2012 10:39

Squix You are not really going to row in this are you? It is blowing a hoolie here in Angus today. DH just ventured out to the garage and has announced that none will be allowed outside today as it is too dangerous!

Sonic that sounds unpleasant. Hope you are feeling better now. My SIL moved to Perth this year and has been completely unable to run due to heat - I think she has taken up power walking instead.

Good Luck for your interview Ibby - some good advice upthread about treating it as a one hour opportunity to talk about yourself.

Get Well Soon Backwards tonsillitis is a bitch. I had its couple of years ago and felt so bad I swore at my MIL Blush.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 03/01/2012 10:51

Grr am so pissed off. Last days of hols and supposed to be going to my sisters but it's really windy and don't want to drive in little box car due to severe weather warnings. Really makes me feel mad that we live so far away. Am really upset. To make matters worse DP has gone back to bed as didn't get to sleep till 6am due to body clock being up the spout which means I will be lone parenting for fuck knows how long. Sad

fannybanjo · 03/01/2012 11:00

Quicky to see good luck to ibby!

Weather shite here too. Hill intervals planned with friend this afternoon. Hmm let's hope wind behind us.

orangeLFDThead · 03/01/2012 11:29

Good luck ibby for today.
Hope you feel better soon possom.
Did aload of lunges yesterday and now any slight movement is painful and stairs are a bugger Grin. ds2 keeping getting very concerned very time I say ouch.

ibbydibby · 03/01/2012 11:49

Well done to anyone who's been brave enough to go out. Way down south (ish) in Norfolk, weather is vile - wind and rain

Peach sorry about your cancelled trip, that's a shame

Sonic that sounds rough, hope you are ok.

Thanks for messages of support for interview. Am sitting at desk eating banana as DS1's music teacher told him once that bananas are good for nerves. This was before an exam, she had a huge bag of them and was more or less force feeding them to pupils as they came in for their exam.

With this weather I will turn up looking like a soggy doggy.

Did practice run of presentation last night and got positive feedback from DH, X-factor style comments from DS2, and the best of all from DS1 "I learnt something there mum, that's what we have been doing in Science"

Time to sign off as interview at 1.10pm, and may need to set off early in anticipation of fallen trees etc

SonicMiddleAge · 03/01/2012 11:59

Good luck ibby.

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 03/01/2012 12:11

Just quick am bout to shred with DH ..... wheely my friend has the most lovely yoga top from SB, short sleeves and a kind of gather round the neckline. Will see if I can find it later.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 03/01/2012 12:23

MIL's windscreen smashed by tile overnight so travelling a moot point today anyway.

Hope some if you can run!

squix · 03/01/2012 12:54

Rowing was cancelled - good job as we can't get anywhere today - trains either cancelled or delayed and the bridge closed - gusts of 97mph out side my house! I think it's a day for movies and chocolate......

Hope everyone else is safe, those traveling take care and if any of you do venture out for a run - you might get a wind assisted pb!

Good luck ibby

backwardLFDTpossom · 03/01/2012 12:57

Thanks for the get well wishes, I've had it for a while now but I woke up this morning feeling a lot better - throat is still in agony, but I feel a million times better! Maybe the ABs are kicking in!

I've just entered the ballot for the GNR...
