All ye fine runners who wish to get together to discuss running-related topics, or otherwise, come and join us here. We are a friendly and incredibly supportive group of runners, varying in ability, but all bonded together by a common theme of loving running, committed to squeezing it into our busy lives and wanting to improve our own PBs. So whether you are a full-time mum, part-time working mum, full-time working mum, working from home mum, mum who is studying, or even a dad Grin, add your race to the list so you can be sure of some moral support and advice along the way. And if you aren't racing, don't worry as you can enjoy the race reports and race vicariously.

sfxmum · 30/11/2011 21:13

so sorry peach much love to you all

MoshiMoshi · 30/11/2011 21:15

Blooming heck, that was incredibly quick, peach! I hope you and your family are OK. What a blow it must be for your poor dad. Reminds us all to hug our family and friends tightly as life can be so cruel and random. I hope she was not frightened or in pain. I will say a little prayer tonight.

OP posts:
runnerstipple · 30/11/2011 21:20

peach, I'm so sorry for you and your family, and am thinking of you. Sad

DebiTheScot · 30/11/2011 21:22

Sorry to hear that peach. Thinking of you and your family.

squix · 30/11/2011 21:36

peach - so sorry to read that - it does seem so very quick, thinking of you and your family

peachLFDTsmuggler · 30/11/2011 21:39

I think she was not really conscious towards the end, and in fact the last week possibly more distressing for the family visiting, as am sure she didn't particularly know they were there. My dad rang this afternoon before it happened but he could hardly speak, poor thing.

No no, fanny, please talk about running, talk about nice normal things, hoovering, ironing, rubbing, raving. Life goes on eh?

Really hoping for some lovely news from Rhet now. No pressure lovely!!!

rhetorician · 30/11/2011 21:45

peach we are telling DD2 that 1/12/2011 would be a really cool birthday...hope to have good news for you before too long

peachLFDTsmuggler · 30/11/2011 21:58

Aww that would be a very cool birthday indeed. Is she very excited now?

orangeLFDThead · 30/11/2011 22:07

I am so sorry peach hugs to you and your dad and family.

sfxmum · 30/11/2011 22:08

lovely day with the family and meeting friends, feeling and blessed to have them.
tomorrow is gym day with sergeant major trainer WendyGrin can't wait

all this running club talk is almost convincing me to join, also nice article on women's running about it, but I am just not a group personHmm

ThatVikRinA22 · 30/11/2011 22:10

just nipped in for a quick catch up, so sorry to hear your sad news peach

these threads move so fast i almost hardly pop up on them, but tonight i managed my first ever 10k. it was painfully, chronically slow and probably way more than i should have attempted, but i did it anyway! now to get it down to under an hour Grin it was that bad! running club is painful. i felt so sorry for the poor lass running with me - i think she can do 9 miles in her sleep....i kept telling her to go and catch the others up because i felt so guilty...i dont actually mind running alone.

next week the aim is to do it without walking any of it!

hope everyone else is ok. this may well be up to 1000 posts before i get back on!

stickyLFDTfingers · 30/11/2011 22:13

peach I'm so sorry. Your poor Dad must be reeling.

futurity · 30/11/2011 22:16

So sorry to hear your news peach Sad xx

orangeLFDThead · 30/11/2011 22:19

Just heard my my exh his sister, 17, has ran away from her foster carer. She is safe and now with another foster carer. It as really upset me I want to help her she was such a big part of my life at one point and I had a big part in bringng her up. Me and exh applied for custody of his two sisters but turned down as we were only 20 at the time. Sorry hope you don't mind me offloading.

rhetorician · 30/11/2011 22:23

orange of course we don't - that sounds like a tough situation. Are you still in touch with her? what a generous thing you tried to do at such a young age, I am full of admiration

sfxmum · 30/11/2011 22:25

orange please feel free, it is clearly an emotional issue, I hope she is ok

when I was 19 I took informal care of my youngest sister allowed by a judge, it was never contested thankfully, one can feel quite overwhelmed at such times

orangeLFDThead · 30/11/2011 22:26

No my biggest and probably only regret in my life not keeping in touch.

orangeLFDThead · 30/11/2011 22:28

How old was your sister sfx?

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 30/11/2011 22:28

Quickly popping on to say so sorry to hear about your dads wife peach. Orange sorry to hear of your ex sister in laws probs. Can you contact her?

stickyLFDTfingers · 30/11/2011 22:29

are you able to get back in touch orange?

sfxmum · 30/11/2011 22:33

4yrs younger than me orange my mother died when I was 15, we waited until I was 19 the other 18 and we left, I talked to a judge when the crazy loon started making noises about wanting the youngest back so I talked to the judge, he backed off, I had just got a job and a few people helped us.

sfxmum · 30/11/2011 22:35

all I can say is that it is worth reaching out, for want of a better term, it is hard work and I am aware that life is not easy for you at the moment, but I am so very grateful to the ones who were brave enough to helps and truly they needed to be.

fannybanjo · 30/11/2011 22:39

peach as long as you're sure. Hope your dad has got lots of support at home. I always feel for the ones left behind.

orange Sad this sounds like a sad situation. Very admirable of you at 20 to attempt to gain custody of his sisters. It sounds similar to how I feel over that girl I believe stole from me. I've had a number of pleading texts and phone calls from her the past week but I just can't go there. She's not family and too damaging for my DC. However you do what you feel is right but I'll be honest, put your families needs first (as I'm sure you will). I've gone out of my way to help people and a lot of the time, it comes back to haunt me. I'm becoming quite cynical now.

rhet this seems like the longest pre labour in history! Grin come on MrsFerguson - move it on!

Well, I took said 12 year old boy for session of hill sprints and fuck me, he's fast!! BlushHmm. He wellied me last 2 intervals and didn't break a sweat. He does his 2 mile cross country at 7.30m/m pace but to beat top boy needs to get to 6.30m/m pace. His parents are hoping I can help and I really want to - its like a challenge. I was thinking he needs to do some good intervals at the 6.30m/m pace to get his legs turning over but any advice greatly received. He's also good training tool for myself cos he's got unbelievable stamina. However, I've told his dad he needs a Garmin...!!!! BlushBlushBlush

orangeLFDThead · 30/11/2011 22:42

I'm sorry sfx that must of been tough. Slightly different situation ss took them of exmil, infact I had been ringing ss for about 2 years to report thier treatment and they did nothing for two years till things got really bad. Apparently I was not the only one reporting either.
Might talk to exh about seeing them.
