MoshiMoshi · 29/11/2011 09:04

All ye fine runners who wish to get together to discuss running-related topics, or otherwise, come and join us here. We are a friendly and incredibly supportive group of runners, varying in ability, but all bonded together by a common theme of loving running, committed to squeezing it into our busy lives and wanting to improve our own PBs. So whether you are a full-time mum, part-time working mum, full-time working mum, working from home mum, mum who is studying, or even a dad Grin, add your race to the list so you can be sure of some moral support and advice along the way. And if you aren't racing, don't worry as you can enjoy the race reports and race vicariously.

maybe should make tea and generally be nice to DP?

stickyLFDTfingers · 30/11/2011 13:00

only here to see what's happening chez rhet!!

tho rhet - having been on the other side, so to speak, I appreciated DP being there and being nice, but also going off to do his own thing (be that rest, work or play) so that I didn't feel (a) that he was hovering round me waiting for something to happen (b) that he was resenting me (in the nicest possible way, obviously!). So as long as you're not hours/miles away, I would make sure you're staying in the best possible frame of mind!

I really like strike days!! We're having such fun :)

Happy partying moshi!

ibbydibby · 30/11/2011 13:15

Rhet agree with Sticky - I was induced with DS1, and bored & listless in hospital, so suggested DH go home for a few hours and also go for a run. (Knowing he is like a bear with a sore head when confined to small places and unexercised).

So he did, and he enjoyed the opportunity to get away (escape) for a while. Luckily for both of us, DS1 born soon after he got back to hospital. Ohhhh the memories - was 15 years ago but remember it as if it was yesterday..

Wheelybug · 30/11/2011 13:28

Yes rhet squeeze in an extra long run whilst you can. You seem v. Supportive so grab your chance whilst you can. Take your mobile though just in case !!

Strike day been fine here so far. Dd1 has quite enjoyed it. Got to come for coffee with a couple of my friends which I think
She thought made her grown up. We then had a quick swim and then she watched my swimming lesson. She now seems v fidgety though. Was hoping her and dd2 would settle down to a film so I could get on with stuff but she seems to want action !

Enjoy the party moshi !

monkeyLFDTwench · 30/11/2011 13:43

Hi all, agree with everyone else rhet get out while you can and enjoy it.

Normal school day for us here so just got ds3. Thought I would try my new Six Week Six Pack dvd - sweet Jesus, I thought the Shred was bad but this is truly punishing. Much faster and very intensive for 35 minutes. I did level 2 Shred then SWSP and am now exhausted. DH is up in Lytham today so won't be home till really late, so I thought I'd go it alone for today.

Went into town to buy a plain t shirt for ds1 to wear at Tudor Day tomorrow, am helping out so have thrown a costume together for myself. Won't be posting photos anytime soon!

Wheelybug · 30/11/2011 13:53

Monkey - that's good to know re 6w6p. Ibought this a while ago, did it once then never did it again. I remember it really hurting my feet ! My shred is still in its cellophane as I rink I am worried about it being as bad as 6w6p but maybe i'll give it a go !

monkeyLFDTwench · 30/11/2011 14:05

Shred definitely more manageable, with the SWSP I could barely get up off the floor in time to start the next move let alone keep up the reps! Will try the SWSP every other day I think till I feel stronger.

rhetorician · 30/11/2011 14:33

monkey(nutter)!! I think we need before and after pics...

monkeyLFDTwench · 30/11/2011 15:00

Never gonna happen, rhet! Actually, I'll do you a deal .... if I end up with chiselled abs like Jillian after six weeks, you get your picture. But let's be honest, Jillian doesn't look like the kind of girl that eats leftover fishfingers indulges, does she?

Have exhausted myself further with a flurry of kitchen cleaning, should have known better. Am going to rest for 5 minutes now browsing for a new vacuum cleaner (with special attention to the Miele appliance porn website as recommended by cherry).

DH has made an appointment to see the teacher next week - if we get no joy can I call on the mumsnet posse to hunt these kids down and make them sorry they were born deal with the situation?!

stickyLFDTfingers · 30/11/2011 15:34

ooh SWSP sounds scary... looking forward to those pics of the abs of steel.

monkey count me and my pitchfork in. Like after the riots in the summer, I'm reminded of .

peachLFDTsmuggler · 30/11/2011 16:01

Oh come on Anne Boleyn, show us the pictures!!! Wink

Rhet, poor old DP, how frustrating. Yeah get out while you can love!

We have had a very lazy day, and are throwing caution to the wind and watching The Snowman. Couldn't hold off till tomorrow!

Did any of you lot run before your 6 week checkup? I am sure it is just adrenaline/hormones, but I feel like I could run a bit now and it seems a bit of a shame as got DP at home and K sleeping a lot during day. Other than my broken bottom I feel fine. Most of me knows this is foolhardy talk and I should be resting/recovering/building up iron stores. Just wondering what everyone else did. Please tell me if I need a slap.

stickyLFDTfingers · 30/11/2011 16:12

peach no running for me for a couple of months, but I did walk vigorously up hills to get the heart rate up instead. But then, I didn't stop bleeding for aaages, and didn't want to be dripping down the street (eeeuw!).

You must be feeling pretty good to be contemplating such things. That is good!

monkeyLFDTwench · 30/11/2011 17:00

That's great sticky I grew up on a diet of NTNOCN so all those sketches still crack me up Grin.

peach more Anne of Cleves than Anne Boleyn! Am going for the peasant look rather than being a laydee though!

No running for about 2 months after ds1 and ds3 as had a c section and it felt like my insides were falling out if I did anything vigorous. Think it was about a month for ds2, and even then it was walk/jog. Seem to remember my poor battered boobies hurting most of all .....

rhetorician · 30/11/2011 17:36

peach straight out the door the day after ...waits for other shoe to fall

DrNortherner · 30/11/2011 18:29

I am here. Marking my place. Sorry, not been around much, Lots going on, will try and catch up with you all tonight. I miss you Smile

I have been running though. 6.5 miles of intervals last night, 5min efforts, 1 min recovery. Hurt. Like. Hell. Spitting like a good un I was.

Catch you later. Oh, my headband rocks!

rhetorician · 30/11/2011 20:09

dd2 has clearly decided that November is not for her...but we are calm. Just about managed a short run this afternoon - freezing cold, biting wind, spitting rain. Nasty. Sooner or later I am going to have to try to run at 85% of heart rate - no idea how it will feel and kind of dreading it. But this was the point of the HR monitor, to give me confidence to run through when it gets tough.

backwardLFDTpossom · 30/11/2011 20:32

Hope things kick off soon, rhet

peachLFDTsmuggler · 30/11/2011 20:41

Had some bad news tonight. Dad's wife died. Can't believe it's only 6 weeks ago she was diagnosed. I really don't know how my dad is going to cope, it's just awful.

YeahThatsTheBadger · 30/11/2011 20:45

Oh peach. I am so, so sorry. :( Big hugs to you.x

fannybanjo · 30/11/2011 20:46

Oh no peach I am so so sorry. Sad

monkeyLFDTwench · 30/11/2011 20:49

peach that's so terribly sad. Really feel for you and your family. I hope the end was as peaceful as it could be for her. Sending you all big hugs Sad.

rhetorician · 30/11/2011 20:49

peach I am so so sorry to hear this - so soon. Your poor dad. Thinking of you

fannybanjo · 30/11/2011 21:01

Doesn't seem to discuss running. Sad

fannybanjo · 30/11/2011 21:02

Sorry doesn't seem right

DrNortherner · 30/11/2011 21:05

So sorry peach that was so quick. Thinking of you all xxx
