All ye fine runners who wish to get together to discuss running-related topics, or otherwise, come and join us here. We are a friendly and incredibly supportive group of runners, varying in ability, but all bonded together by a common theme of loving running, committed to squeezing it into our busy lives and wanting to improve our own PBs. So whether you are a full-time mum, part-time working mum, full-time working mum, working from home mum, mum who is studying, or even a dad Grin, add your race to the list so you can be sure of some moral support and advice along the way. And if you aren't racing, don't worry as you can enjoy the race reports and race vicariously.

cherry, oh dear, deep breaths, and maybe Wine

is it cocodamol futurity? They are nauseatastic!!

Sounds like great fun Rhet, maybe they'll have mulled wine too! DD1 won't go near Santa. Had theatre group doing pantomime at playgroup. She sat with me while all the other kids sat on mat down the front and then had to queue with her for Santa with her walking backwards towards him with her eyes shut holding her hand out. She cracks me up sometimes Grin

fannybanjo · 13/12/2011 22:50

peach GrinGrinGrin at your DD! DD3 the same. She's very antsy about Santa coming in to our house. I've told her tonight that he'll leave hers outside... My kids get the most random answers to very important questions. They're going to divorce me when they reach teenage years. My friends think its hilarious. I come out with some clangers.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 13/12/2011 22:51

Blub at baby Santa hat!!! Might have to dress K up as Xmas pudding or similar Grin

stickyLFDTfingers · 13/12/2011 23:03

ha fanny have you seen "Great lies to tell Small Kids" book? V funny. THough it's the other way round in our house - DD2 rolled her eyes at me the other day and told me "don't be silly, there's no such thing as cups". Hmm

cherry sodding washing machines. They know when you need them most, the bastards.

running your DDs sound adorable!

rhet she's not even at the age to enjoy the boxes! Hope you get a good run in.

futurity and ornge more get well vibes coming your way.

Must be off to bed since i've decided that's life's too short not to go running ...Grin

Your DD sounds lovely Running :) > Monkey, very sad about your friend, and hope they have a happier Christmas this year, that must be horribly hard. Rhet, I'm very impressed that you're getting out with such a little one. Going from one to two is tough, good to keep something for yourself :) Peach, Kate Arwen is a gorgeous name.

Went to club last night which was good. Not many of us braved the weather. We did 4.12 miles so further than before, but yay! It was a tough run and I felt like I was struggling more than normal, was very stressed before going out which probably didn't help. DH had run me a lovely bath with candles and fairy lights when I got home which was lovely and very unexpected. Woke up with a horrible headcold which might explain the running too. Still, chuffed with the distance!

orangeLFDThead · 14/12/2011 10:02

Well done on the distance Alma and getting out in the cold.

rhetorician · 14/12/2011 10:45

am shattered today and it's freezing cold and windy, so not sure whether I am going to live up to my early promises...but baby A is almost back to her birth weight (1g short), so all good

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 11:02

Well done Alma you sound really positive about your running! Envy

rhet hope you're ok, don't overdo it and stick to lower heart rate... Wink

DD2 vomited 3 times since 4.30am. Ended up with both her and DD3 in my bed. DD3 gone into pre-school upset because her big sister not going. Was supposed to be clay pigeon shooting with DH but had to cancel but that's ok, I'm clearing out kitchen cupboards.... Grin

orangeLFDThead · 14/12/2011 11:09

Hope she ok fanny, I am sure you will enjoy the cleaning just as much as clay pigeon shooting Smile
Hope you ok rhet

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 11:19

Big Xmas pre-clean peach!! Ordered loads of sale clothes from Boden for littles ones so need to clear wardrobes out too. I'm the type of person that tidies a kitchen drawer out then I'm inspired to rip bathroom out. Blush. Don't know when to wind my neck in. DD2 (mini Fanny) currently dusting with a feather duster so think she's recovering!

stickyLFDTfingers · 14/12/2011 11:24

rhet come on! It feels OK once you're running (and if you're running up a big hill, it's tropical!). You'll feel better for it. Off you go...

I only did 5 k this morning in the end; man was coming to pick up our car so window of opportunity was even smaller. But ran down to river (easy!) then back up from river (hard!) so I felt like I got a good work out.

fanny hope your DD gets better soon. Very impressed by your cupboard cleaning. You do seem to have been put on this earth to make me feel bad (must run quicker like Fanny, must do more cleaning like Fanny) Grin

peachLFDTsmuggler · 14/12/2011 11:29

Well done on running club Alma, your DH sounds like an absolute ledge!!!

Rhet, watch out for those winds! Great mews about A's weight!

fanny my lovely. You're getting your oranges and your peaches mixed up again!!! Sorry about the vomit, but don't pretend a day with your cupboards isn't your idea of heaven!!!

Had awesome long lie with K this morning, now have 30 mins to get out of house to park. Can it be done? Go superpeach!!!

Sounds like DP is tidying/cleaning downstairs. How odd???

liath · 14/12/2011 11:31

Well done, alma and bless your DH.

Best of luck with the move, moshi sounds very stressful.

Hope all the vomiting and lurgies affecting the thread sort themselves out - vomity sheets and broken washing machines is a bad combo.

I love Christmas but hate December - weather's awful and you know there's a good 2 or 3 months of crap weather to go, it's dark, the kids are knackered because it's such a long term (they go back mid-august here), folk are stressing about buying presents etc.

Am liking the idea of chocheted (is that how you spell it?) running hats, though Grin.

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 14/12/2011 12:07

Quick message to say guardian website has article on winter running - it's under life and style. Sorry can't link on phone!

Wheelybug · 14/12/2011 13:30

Sorry to hear about the sick bugs doing the rounds - hope everyone is better soon (and
It doesn't spread!). How's the neck futurity

Well done to dd2 and dp on her birth weight rhet. I hope their dad's visit goes ok.

Hurrah to registering your dd2 peach. I love Arwen (is it welsh for star or am I confusing it with something else ?). Mind you princess peach II would have been more amusingWink

Well done on running club alma and bonus points to dh Grin

Good luck moshi. Make sure you come back and tell us how you're getting on across the pond.

I've just finished 3 days of running in a row. 11, 3 and 5. This morning's run followed too much wine last night and I was feeling
Pretty smug for the first half that I was running at normal speed etc, hadn't struggled with the hill but 2.5 miles in I'd had enough Grin. Had done an out and back though so had to finish it and it did get better again. Now 2 rest days due to not having dd2 freetime. Had a sore knee cap after Monday's miles so was a bit worried about continuing to run without rest days but it seems to be ok...... Fingers crossed!

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 13:38

Just quickly, if anyone on here would appreciate a Gap warmest padded coat in Cream excellent condition for free, let me know. If not, i'll do an eBay clear out. Clearing out clothes and too good to bin or throw in charity bag. I have loads of 18-24 months and 2 to 3 years old girls summer clothes if anyone wants them for free.

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 13:38

Sorry coat is age 18-24 months. DD wore it age 2 though and she is quite tall however it was snug.

bonkersLFDT20 · 14/12/2011 13:39

Guardian article on winter running

YeahThatsTheBadger · 14/12/2011 15:46

Ooh fanny I'll take the age 2-3 stuff off your hands. Will obviously pay postage and will give you some money for them too.

The lurgy has been in our house for a few weeks but isn't in any hurry to leave. Although ds hasn't eaten since Monday dinnertime :( but he's happy enough in himself. Hope all the lurgified on the thread are feeling better soon.

No running for me yet this week as there is just to much going on. Hopefully Friday though.

Good luck with the big move moshi.x

YeahThatsTheBadger · 14/12/2011 15:48

Sorry, there should have been a "please" in that first sentence fanny Blush

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 16:11

Badger no problem!! Do you want the gap coat too? if your DD is under 2, it'd be perfect for now. There's also a brown with spots padded coat from Mini Mode by Boots and a white faux fur one by Mini
Mode - both age 2. The rest is summer bits, dresses mainly. Let me know what you want, I'll box up and get them sent via courier which would be about £8.

bonkersLFDT20 · 14/12/2011 16:16

Badger I thought you were offering to take Fanny's 2-3 year old off her hands and I was all Xmas Envy because my darling 2-3 year old DS2 is naughty challenging at the moment. I threw his shoes out of the front door this morning. I didn't realise it was open.

fannybanjo · 14/12/2011 16:23

Grin bonkers I wish....

Badger there's also a pair of infant 6-7 pink crocs - any use to you?

futurity · 14/12/2011 16:29

bonkers good article about winter running ..can't wait to get back out there.

Neck news..drugs were working but then last night I couldn't sleep at all and also was very bloated with stomach ache. Looked at side effect list and they were both on there! Phoned Dr this morning and he said to stay off drugs for 24 hours and try again. So am back down to nurofen which works but isn't perfect and currently leaning on an nice warm radiator as that helps. I think when I am better I am going to wrap myself in bubble wrap to prevent all injuries and illnesses as I have been like this for a few weeks now with one thing or another!
